I wonder what history will say about the "sins of the distant past" in relation to the US and other western countries who are aiding and abetting this murder of a people and destruction of their land. Netanyahu may go down in history as an murderous lunatic. The rest of the world, especially those who have given bombs and weapons will go down as what? Certainly not the freedom loving democracies they claim to be.
Statement from Jan Egeland, Secretary General of the Norwegian Refugee Council: Civilian deaths in Gaza are a stain on Israel and its allies
Published 05. Dec 2023
“The pulverising of Gaza now ranks amongst the worst assaults on any civilian population in our time and age. Each day we see more dead children and new depths of suffering for the innocent people enduring this hell.
“Across the Gaza Strip, almost the entire population – 1.9 million people – have been displaced. Nearly two in three homes are now damaged or destroyed. Amid relentless air, land and sea attacks, thousands of families are forced to relocate from one perilous zone to another. Today, more than 750,000 people are crowded into just 133 shelters. Tens of thousands live on the streets of southern Gaza, where, under bombardment, they are forced to improvise basic shelters from whatever they can get hold of. The winter rains have arrived and so have infectious diseases, just as public health services have been utterly paralysed.
“Many of my own NRC staff members now live on the streets. One of them does so with her two-month-old baby.
“Our colleagues in Gaza ask themselves a simple question: how is it that these atrocities are beamed across the world for all to witness, and yet so little is done to stop them?
“Countries supporting Israel with arms must understand that these civilian deaths will be a permanent stain on their reputation. They must demand an immediate ceasefire in Israel and Gaza. Only a cessation of hostilities will allow us to ensure effective relief to the two million who now require it. Severe restrictions on aid access have aggravated the situation, leading to starvation among Gaza's population, intensifying an already dire humanitarian crisis. We have been forced to halt nearly all of our aid operations due to the bombardment, the chaos, and the panic.
“There must be accountability for those responsible for the killings, the torture, and the atrocities committed in Israel on October 7th.
“The killing of thousands of innocent children and women, the siege on an entire civilian population, and the trapping of bombarded civilians behind closed borders in Gaza are also crimes under international law. There must also be accountability for this, from political and military leaders as well as those who provided arms and support. This military campaign can in no way be described as ‘self-defense.’
“We again demand that all hostages are immediately and unconditionally released. Neither the lives of innocent children, women or men, nor the ability of aid workers to access the vulnerable, should be used as bargaining chips.
“The situation in Gaza is a total failure of our shared humanity. The killing must stop.”
Regardless of what Caitlin is talking about, Gene is replying to Lisa H. who said she was shocked by Biden's lack of compassion. Thus, Gene was pointing out Biden's other weaknesses. I would add that Biden is a demented Deep State puppet. I personally supported Trump in 2016 because Trump was anti-war. It was obvious to all of us that Biden was a warhawk. Hence Lisa's surprise is what is surprising!
Biden proposed a border bill that both sides could agree with but Dear Orange Leader ordered it blocked so he could campaign on the issue. As for Hamas, they were promoted and supported by Nethu to avoid two states. They were elected 17 years ago!!! No election since. The massacre and starvation of Palestinians is massively disproportionate and is collective punishment, both being war crimes.
In my opinion there will be no border.....ever. Why?
Large company's need cheap labour...because Americans won't do the jobs for a pittance.
Every country in the world has this 'ongoing' boring shit about immigrants.
I personally am happy having immigrants and if you look at the environment and understand that people are leaving their countries (for many reasons) you will understand that some WANT to work.
As temperatures climb/water becomes a precious resource the immigrants you have now will seem like a small drop in the Ocean.
The saddest thing of all is that the meme has arisen among the party faithful that "Biden is the most liberal president since FDR." No, I'm wrong, the saddest thing of all is that if they repeat it enough times that's the way he'll be remembered by history.
Many seem to have a need for heroes. I am not so sure that any of the stories about any of the "heroes" are ever anything but a story to make us feel less duped.
The key objective of Israel is to establish “facts on the ground” which can’t be reversed. Once all the Palestinians are either exterminated or expelled, and the threat of a Palestinian state is removed, Israelis will begin romanticising the Palestinian people and shall say “I wish our ancestors weren’t soo cruel to the poor Arabs. Oh well, it’s too late now. Let’s just build a monument to remember them so we don’t feel too bad about ourselves.”
The arrogant Jews in Israel are incapable of looking back in sorrow for anyone except themselves in the holocaust. They viciously declare there's only one genocide...theirs. They are the only victims on earth. They are the only "god-chosen," and Palestine never existed.
No, not just the Israeli Jews, but also the US and EU Jews, who via their Jewish Lobbies, have a stranglehold on the governments. The Israeli Jews could never get away with this carnage if it wasn't for the political support guaranteed by these lobbies. All of Judaism must take responsibility for this, not just so-called "Zionists." Take Germany as an example, all of (West) Germany was held responsible, not just the Nazis. If you want to see the size of these lobbies, check out the following link:
"The Israeli Jews could never get away with this carnage ..." - to follow this logic the Germans could never get away with the carnage they inflicted without support of German lobbies throughout the world.
Also, Germany was held responsible alright. What good it did to it we can observe now.
Yes, all Americans now think of those native Indians as merciless savages. Why they even have been given some Reservations.
ps: Declaration of Independence happened 248 years ago. And at the time, many Indian groups were working with Americans and even fought for them during the Revolutionary war.
I wonder Bill, when you go through a metal detector at an airport, what sets it off first, the lead in your shoes, or the shit in your brains?
Marxists would argue that change can and does happen over centuries. 76 years mentioned in your piece is nothing when we consider how the systems of slavery and feudalism have taken centuries to get to Capitalism. It is populations that can change a system. Zionism is part of the our Capitalist system and if enough world populations revolt it is possible for a better system than Capitalism. That is, of course, as Caitlin has stated, humanity could perish if environmental issues and nuclear weapons are not addressed. My understanding is that world youth is becoming agitated for change, a class change where all is one class and not just them (the wealthy and privileged) and us.
Something will need to change. Climate change is very real and is happening more quickly than many credible scientists had originally predicted.
And if a nuclear exchange does occur, the Nuclear Winter that Carl Sagan and friends first proposed decades ago - more recent, updated scientific modeling has shown the Nuclear Winter will be even more severe than originally modeled. The thousands of worldwide fires from all the nuclear detonations will cover the atmosphere with a layer of soot blocking out the sun for years. The entire worldwide economic food distribution system will collapse. The real death count of a nuclear exchange will not take place during the actual flashes of light and obliteration of millions, but will come with the billions who will die of starvation afterward.
and for sure you know, that all the fuzz about CO2 is just a global hoax (some hundred million years ago it reached even more than 7000 ppm and life was THRIVING, not actual ridiculous 443) to keep scientists and "their" institutions well funded by tax-money, precisely funneled by the profiting fear-mongers.
It is likely that Israel will succeed in the short term, but it will be for the last time. Only 36% of Americans approve of what Israel is doing, a 14 point drop in 4 months. BDS will come to America; it's only a matter of time now, and Israel cannot exist without American support.
How long? I don't know, but I'm already surprised by the rapidity of the swing in the polls. Even Donald Trump said that Israel made a "big mistake."
Israel has not only shown Americans its own true, ghoulish face, but has ripped the mask off some more of our own vampires. A reckoning is coming, which is one reason why they're trying to pin all of the blame on Netanyahu.
I appreciate your optimism. Truly, the 36% that still support this have to be the same people who don't know whether more Israelis or Palestinians have been killed. Anyone who knows what is happening and still supports it is a psychopath.
Zionists are solely responsible for perpetrating acts of such gross and depraved inhumanity that, if there is any justice at all in the world, they will see the "Jewish state" expunged and replaced with a single-state Palestine in which Palestinian Muslims, Palestinian Christians and any Palestinian Jews who wish to will live together side-by-side, with mutual respect and understanding, in peace and harmony.
This is the only sane solution.
Zionists will be offered therapy to reveal the extent of the lifetime of indoctrination to which they have regrettably been subjected, by their leaders, some rabbis and their society at large (which was similarly indoctrinated). Those who recognise they've effectively been programmed to accept mistaken beliefs and are open to change will be welcomed into the New Palestine. Those who are not will be pariahs and shunned by any and every enlightened state in the world.
There will be - there is - no place for Zionists. And no, it isn't anti-Semitic to say so.
You may say that an insane world will never implement a sane solution. But we nevertheless have to have something to aim for.
The native americans were deliberately destroyed and wiped out - replaced as labour in the settler colonial enterprise by Africans kidnapped and trafficked in on slave ships, and indentured servants from Europe.
That's the one, Caitlin. Zionists play the long & dirty game whilst we sleepwalk but they're finished once we wake up just a few more people across the world and they know it. It is israel that will fit nicely into the dustbin of history.
They've managed to confidence trick most folk with their [imaginary] money, usury, and fraudulent debt.
A similar thing has gone on with many people of the world on a very simple & extremely basic premise. Historically we have been propagandised (or perhaps it's innate in our nature) to consider that the land belongs to us. The truth of course is that it is the other way around; we belong to the land. We've been captured by words again. What is the basis of this ownership of the world that they pretend to own after using their own fraudulent debt-based [artificial] money to buy it with?
Should this question of land, and by extension also monetary reform, become viral then it's rapid curtains & dustbins for the power of these insane tricksters.
Is it not wonderful that we think we own what we have and yet in a nano-second we have to pay for something wildly impractical (expensive) in order to survive or we will be out on the street on someone else' land if we can't pay up.
Yes. Words are brilliant and co-ercive unless you have a good education.
My guess is that this is the end of Israel even though money speaks volumes at the present moment.
There will be no Palestinians left by the time we all get some sense and I agree land is not going to be a commodity which one can buy or own in the sense of 'this is mine!'
Edward Said stated three decades ago that the goal of zionism was the same as the European settlers who came to the Americas in the 18th and 19th Century, erased the indigenous civilizations, and put the survivors of the genocide on marginal land to be forgotten. Here in Canada these are called ‘reserves’ and our First Nations are still struggling to right these historical wrongs. However recent statements from the Historian Ilan Pappe claim that now we are witnessing the beginning of the end of the zionist project. Israel is a throwback to settler/colonial regimes of the 18th and 19th Centuries, and in the long term is not viable in the 21st Century. He adds that even in these are very dark times for Palestinians, there are signs that the zionist state is starting to crumble, and as defenders of Palestinian rights we must double and triple our efforts and not give up hope.
In thinking about how past sins tend to historically dissipate . . . When asked recently whether Israel had a right to exist, Miko Peled, born into that Zionist society, now a fervent anti-Zionist/pro-Palestinian, answered: "NO apartheid state has the right to exist."
By that no-apartheid standard, not only the former South Africa (recent history), but several other states (e.g., Rwanda) should not have existed. But realistically, let's include the USA until maybe the very late 20th Century -- from the perspective of African Americans; and not at all -- from the perspective of Native Americans, still basically living an apartheid existence. Look closely and you'll see how apartheid seems fundamentally woven into human societies. And AI, created by such minds, is going to save us? Not!
I think, because of the genocide they're committing and their ongoing disrespect for human lives, international law, and almost everything, it's Israel that will go down, not Palestine.
And I think the western world will be irrevocably changed, and the sooner the better.
Israel is demonstrating the lawlessness, cruelty and dishonesty the west has always been about, and more people are seeing that every day, and doing what they can to change it.
Our leaders ignore us now, but no one has faith in them anymore, and this will have huge repercussions. The lie has ben exposed.
We have only one planet and human being are one species. So what “western world” is it that you speak of?
When someone defines a “western world” what is really mean is: the racist alliance of colonialist nations that define themselves as «white» and the rest of the world as prey in some sort of jungle. And then they operate by the law of the jungle - not international law. Thugs.
Time and time again they do this. And then they move on to the next. They already spent the past 20 years in frenzy of mass killing around the middle east such as Iraq, Syria, Yemen….and all the way to Afghanistan. All where they killed more people than in Gaza. And now…they are doing it again.
As long as there is a “western world” they will practice colonialism and genocide. Lawlessly. Cruelly. And Dishonestly. As they do here. It….is…..what…..they….do.
So what you are saying actually makes no sense.
The only way this changed is for those who have defined themsleves as the “western” racist colonialist world to stop doing so - stop identifying as “western” and start identifying with the rest of humanity.
As it was well put several decades ago:
“We are all at the mercy of the European vision of the world - and that vision is obsolete” - James Baldwin (National Press Club Speech 1986)
When people stop trying to be “white” and “western” and stop trying to impose the supremacy of this artificial and gruesome identity over the rest of the planet, the carnage will stop. But that’s going to be down to self reflection on whether any of this is productive. Not horror at the carnage. Because the entire point of the “western” identity is to dehumanise and “other” the rest of the planet, and to make the carnage rationlizeable.
People like to be on the winning side and the "west" has been considered one for a long time now. "Winning" or "superior" or some other supposedly superlative term (like "democratic") - meaning "we're better than those others".
If tomorrow the "east" becomes such then people will readily switch and the US will be "eastern" just like Australia and Japan are now "western".
Those terms are meaningless. It's not where the "winning" or the "better" side is in terms of compass. It's that people will always tend to cling to those who are "better". Martians might be next.
Hey, Kudjoe, you know that this is what they do, and I know that. But I think the millions upon millions of people who are taking to the streets and realizing that this is what they do, and that's making a huge impact.
I live in the west, it's what I understand and where I can make change. I also identify as part of the rest of the world. To my view, this is less othering and more taking responsibility where I can.
If this doesn't satisfy you, what would you suggest instead?
Israel tomorrow will still be an ethno fascist theocracy with a far right for a left, extreme far right for moderates, and super extreme genocidal far right running rampage in Lebanon Syria Iraq Yemen Jordan and Egypt for their resources especially water. As these countries know Palestinians aren't going away and they too play the long game. I can just see a future yamulked Ron Desantis trying to close the border as a pretext to rampage, building cages and making it illegal to teach Critical Palestinian Theory or making Jewish students uncomfortable. Biden's genocidal intent especially with the security council vetos makes everyone more lawless and unsafe.
If Nazi's blamed the Red Cross for starvation in concentration camps I don't think it would have been accepted at Nuremburg trial so why are Zionist blaming the UN accepted?
I know, Native American Indians have been Memory Holed! Who remembers the Navajo Indians or their culture - no books on them, no books on the Apaches - nothing! And General Custer was a hero! Who knew?????
People in Arizona definitely remember the Navajos. These fabulous Native Americans own and run the scenic territory of Canyon de Chelly, where thousands of visitors envy the native culture and admire their success and resourcefulness. If you imagine I'm being patronizing or insincere, not so. Go and see for yourself. What is more, there is an impressive book about the Navajos called "The Navajo Code Talkers", describing their heroic successes during WWII in designing and using a code language to foil the enemy. The Zunis of New Mexico also possess very scenic lands and are highly respected. I don't know how the Native Americans feel in other parts of the country, but those here in the southwest have pride, freedom, and land more beautiful than most of us. When I was young and down-and-out, I wished I had a "Rez" to go back to.
Give me a fucking break. I know exactly what Bill wrote, and that you then agreed with - labeling me as incorrect. MEMORY HOLED MY ASS.
You're too much of a racist (political op in Caitlin's comment section) - to admit you're wrong. Because know-it-alls like you can never be shown wrong.
I am not sitting by and allowing it to happen. Trouble is, my resistance is not much more than a mosquito to the big dicks in power. They just swat us away.
Agree. No one around me knows what's actually happening. They read the NYT, listen to NPR and think Biden and our senator Sanders hate Bibi. The propaganda is deep.
Given the corrupt and debased state of our political apparatus, what constitutes "Opposition" at this point? The sitting President has received more money from Israel lobbyists than anyone currently in political office. His likely opponent in the general election also supports Israel. Approximately 90 percent of Congress supports Israel. This reminds me of the debates over campaign finance reform. The reason why nothing on that front has changed for the better is because true reform would have to be passed by the people whose political fortunes are financed by their corporate masters.
I hate to say it, but I think the fate of the Palestinians has been sealed, and we are left with the challenge as to how we handle the anger and shame of being made to bear witness to a crime against humanity sponsored by our government (which we believe we had a hand in creating). We have our work cut out for us.
It was very well said here last year:

I see Biden as chief enabler and I'm truly shocked that he has no compassion at all for Palestine.
His most important duty is to keep the Jews happy.
Hello Gene. I guess you are new here?
Firstly. Caitlin is talking about Israel and the atrocities it has committed on the Palestinians.
2nd. What has this to do with 'illegals' in the US?
3rd. You need to read about Hamas and Israel before you comment on here. This is not the Mainstream Media!
4th. "Patients" are usually sick people often in hospital. I think you are looking for the word patience.
5th. Your last line means nothing. Where are the rockets and weapons coming from?
Gene is not new, he's the local hasbara clown with standard brain wormed talking points that are routinely dog-walked in the comments.
Regardless of what Caitlin is talking about, Gene is replying to Lisa H. who said she was shocked by Biden's lack of compassion. Thus, Gene was pointing out Biden's other weaknesses. It's absurd and uninformed to say that "Palestinians have a nonexistent history. "
U have very little idea of what is truly going on gene

The Palestinians will be depicted as the Native Americans were in the Declaration of Independence: "merciless Indian Savages"

You're definitively talking about the global North.
hmmmmm.....
Incorrect.
why ?? with some detail, please !!
For sure you know about global wind-patterns ...

I’ll tell you what, I really hope your right and there’s an end to imperialism in this world
They already did this to thr slavs. The nkvd bokshevik ashkenazi exterminated ukraine. Then convinced ukraine that this was the fault of russia.
It is likely that Israel will succeed in the short term, but it will be for the last time. Only 36% of Americans approve of what Israel is doing, a 14 point drop in 4 months. BDS will come to America; it's only a matter of time now, and Israel cannot exist without American support.

I continue to suggest the Zionists relocate Israel to Bavaria. After WWII, Germany owes it to them.
Bavaria needs new jersey style condos. For sure.
Give Israel back to the Palestinians and let the Jews live happily alongside every other human!
Palestine can not be erased or destroyed
https://mywisdom.substack.com/p/racist-america-and-apartheid-israel
Here something someone wrote.
They thought the could bury us, but they didn’t understand we are the seeds.
Freedom, dignity, prosperity and justice for Palestine
Oh it can - look at how many indigenous peoples were destroyed in the US and replaced by immigrants.
People need to stand up today and refuse to cooperate, collaborate or acquiesce.. Otherwise it will happen.
Indigenous people were not replaced. They were displaced by colonizers.
The native americans were deliberately destroyed and wiped out - replaced as labour in the settler colonial enterprise by Africans kidnapped and trafficked in on slave ships, and indentured servants from Europe.

100% Correct.
We have well and truly been screwed.

Good point Ilan Pappe. Let’s hope.
As if the "eastern" civilization is a group of vestal virgins run by saints ....
This is u avoiding personal responsibility. When ur father js a child rapist, the response is not to say the police are run by saints
I can tell right away you're a saint!
It’s not civilization. It’s actually high-tech barbarity.
If Nazi's blamed the Red Cross for starvation in concentration camps I don't think it would have been accepted at Nuremburg trial so why are Zionist blaming the UN accepted?
..........and warmonger Biden will go down in History as the worst/brutal President in US History.
there are probably as bad or maybe even worse to come
This is why we must *never stop talking about Palestine.*
......and the Kurds. The Armenians and the Tamils in Sri Lanka.

"The genocidal atrocities against the Palestinians will be something kids learn about in history class ... "sins of the past".
Nope. They won't be portrayed as sins - if they are portrayed at all - but as acts of heroic warriors.
And there very likely will be no history books anymore - it will all be Memory Holed.
Yes there are books and I have read quite a few BUT as always who wrote the books?
Best way as I said above is to study their art and visit their lands.
I've heard rumours they've been memory holed!! God only knows!
If you study American Indian Art (which I did) you can get a pretty fair picture of their culture.
One also needs to remember that there were peaceful tribes like the Hopi and fierce tribes like the Apache and Navajo to a certain extent.
Incorrect.

History is already under daily revision on the internet.
So why are we sitting by and allowing it to happen? We should punctuate the end of the slaughter.
Yes. But I and many people have come up with ideas how to stop this.
Some people are doing things............protesting and stopping workers enetering US arms manufacturers, this does work.
And for all those voters who vote Biden ......blood is on you hands too.
Just voting is blood on our hands. We need another system to govern ourselves.
Good idea !!
Just start, may be, some of us shall follow your tracks to where they buried (in best case) or left you to be eaten by the crows ...
