If you can't peacefully express your opinion with a protest sign, you're not living in a "democracy." If you live in a system that creates more and more junk at the expense of the world's health, you're not living in a "democracy." If you're preventing a peace deal from going through so your military industrial complex can make more money, you're not promoting "democracy." Wake the hell up, neolibs--you don't live in a democracy and you're not promoting it by condoning these fascistic actions.

Since the UK had a Queen and now a King, they are a monarchy. And it looks like the monarchy can arrest anyone for speaking out against it.

I love the blank paper signs and protests. It's almost MORE powerful than slogans.

"Unprovoked invasion" can be assessed, and in this case easily proven not the case. So it is less deceitful, anomalous and obscurantist than, "provoked but unjustified." It is what less than knowledgeable people might say. But many knowledgeable and intelligent people have said the latter. Like, what the hell does it mean? To what extent should provocation be tolerated without counter-action? Yeah, strong reaction to having one NATO country in the vicinity but non adjacent, could be considered a tad touchy, but complete encirclement? A Nazified country next door when 28 million people in your country died fighting Nazism? The murder, after a coup deposing a pro-Russia president, of 14,000 ethnic Russians? Exactly when does criminal provocation become intolerable? Does the precise point involve a science? It seems to involve bias, certainly, and specifically a strong bias against Russia.

Doris "28 million" this is something that you can bet the people in the US don't know or remember. I believe you could ask the average Joe on the street who won the big one (WW2) and they would say the US won that war which is pure horseshit. I grew up with the standard indoctrination of church and military. Hell until I was 27 I never questioned the truth of the whole bullshit story. I was one of the many to say "Nuke Iran Until it Glows in the Dark"! Never once knowing what brought on the disgust of an entire nation. Now of course I am one of the ones with complete and utter disgust for the criminals who are controlling the world. We can no longer discuss these issues because of the complete control of the very minds of the mindless. They immediately call you a Russian mouth piece or when I mention Iran "They have it coming and they are the bad guys" is always the standard response. The democrats and republicans respond to buzz words 1 or 2 3 at the most because that is the depth of their understanding.

Brian Stelter will examine threats to democracy. LOL. At Harvard. LOL. He'll need to examine his entire CNN career.

Good to know they have a department of Septic Tank Science, which I guess means that tank pumping for the far-suburban/rural people is about to become neo-liberalized... or did the University of Chicago boys beat Harvard to it again.

"Spinmeisters now act like the discredited Trump-Russia collusion narrative never happened; this narrative which monopolized the news media and greatly altered public perception of Moscow on totally baseless grounds has been memory holed while its propaganda effects live on. "

Look how the War On Iraq and the War On Libya were each quietly dropped from public discussion like a couple of embarrassing but ultimately minor faux pas. In fact, the cheerleaders for the wars, in and out of government, are still hailed as Serious Thinkers and Hardheaded Foreign Policy Experts, even as every single prediction that they made regarding the wars have proven wrong.

The ruling class in the West in the past 200 years has controlled the media, education, and cultural industry to manufactured a narrative so the westerners take the oppression/exploitation as democracy/freedom. That narrative become more and more flimsy since China now offer a new reality for the West to reckon with.

The hand is invisible in the opposite way the emperor's new clothes aren't invisible. We've been told it is a law of economics by the people who benefit from that 'law' and that truth keeps us from seeing its shape. Like all crimes, follow the money and suddenly it isn't so hard to see. It isn't mindless force, it is actually the force of a heartless mindset.

Here's the george carlin skit (rant?) It's A BIG Club & You Ain't In It!

I agree with the complaints about Capitalism, and labor exploitation but disagree that when the world population grew exponentially it became a shared obligation to support all those new mouths to feed and shelter. You ignore human nature believing you have a better solution ignoring evil will not disappear when the empire falls and the alternative is more likely to be much worse. We are truly modern day Romans too busy to concern ourselves with the corruption we perpetuate while continuing to exploit the labor of others that supports our luxurious bubble. They hate you too so don’t expect to escape the purge you invite when it finally comes.

Yours is a wonderful Democratic Party talking point: "We know we're evil but the alternative could be worse!" "At least we got something! (A crumb, but it's something)"

The problem is not that the world's population grew so much, it's that a lot of arable land has been enclosed to grow monocrops, like land in Sudan being fenced off to grow flowers for the European market. The Nuer people can now longer move their cattle around to make the best use of the water resources and the grass, but it wasn't caused by the Nuer people suddenly having an explosion of babies. It was good old capitalism, which means less for the people but it makes Sudan's GDP greater.

The "overpopulation" myth was exploded in the 1960s with the book Diet For a Small Planet.

Welcome to the Star Chamber. As noted in earlier comment, "the crown" retains great powers. There exist a conceit (a fancy form of a con or self-deceit) that the crown does not exercise such rights as the Prince of Wales may have the first dibs on sexual congress with any bride on her first night because "democracy". The lords and oligarchy keep such powers in existence, if muted, for the day they decide to duke it out with their slaves.

hahahaha! Star Chamber! Ken Starr died yesterday! What a scumbag he was.

I will never forget how Starr was initially tasked with Investigating the White Water scandal, then decided by himself that the Monika Lewinsky affair would be a better case to bring forward against Clinton. Another Establishment hack doing the bidding of the Crook Class in Power.

Another great article. I agree with the conclusions regarding our Capitalist systems = ecocide & even genocide being the ultimate fate - but we do NOT actually live in a Free Market Capitalist system. There are so many recent examples of this, the Game Stop fiasco being the best and clearest. We live in a Feudal Capitalist system. Old Money is protected, new Oligarchs are allowed to create Monopolies and engage in anti-trust, anti-competitive practices. When markets dip/crash or are affected by global issues (ie. scamdemic) - the rich & powerful enjoy protectionism furnished by the working class for generations to come. Crisis Capitalism is a side benefit for these Oligarch's as they can deepen their wealth and flatten the wealth of the lower classes. All stemming from the constant chipping away at Regulation of Business Sectors (The Insurance industry the most egregious example) . It also enables the creation of Wall Street Gambling = The Entire Derivatives Market in the US is the perfect example - Wealth created that is tied to nothing physical - just the performance of another investment. There is much written about "the Wealth of Nations" and it's depiction of Free Markets having an "invisible hand" - many surmise, like myself, that the "Invisible Hand" is actually the Ruling class of Britain & Europe placing their hands on the scales of supply & demand. Some argue that the system is flawed and that Criminals are exploiting a broken system. I contend that if we all know the system is broken, then so does the Oligarchy - therefore, we have a ruling class than knowingly uses a broken system to their advantage and since they work closely with other Oligarchs and their underlings then we aren't dealing with Criminals - we are dealing with Mobsters: the difference being Criminals operate independently but Mobsters work in concert with each other to deceive & fleece the rest of us. Jimmy Carter was not a Mobster - probably why he was a 1 term President & Reagan/Bush used the Iran Hostage Crisis to win the Presidency. As for a solution? - I contend that only a hybrid system is capable of fixing our quagmire: Basic necessities are provided for & "extras" are gained by citizens who willingly participate in an actual Free Market Economy that is heavily regulated with real stiff penalties for bad faith actors including imprisonment and abolishing any differentiation between white/blue collar crime. Greater importance placed on renewables, but most importantly, we must attempt to bring developing nations forward with us and help them NOT make the same mistakes that we have. The Abolishment of Monarchies Globally would also be best. P.S. - Don't be fooled by Trump - he has played his role as intended = a WWE style "Heel" - whose Horrible Presidency of divide & conquer is being used to whitewash War Criminals like Clinton/Obama & Bush. If Trump were President now we would be in the same place. He was never an outsider and has always been a DC insider. He appointed Bloody Gina Haspel to the head of NSA. He also appointed Fauci to the Covid response. Hope everyone enjoys the next LIV Golf tourney @ a DJT course soon - funded of course by the Saudi's. I fear for what comes next - all of the checkmarks that occurred pre WW2 are also occurring now.

The reason behind everything you are saying is the rogue military who instead of protecting society has become its enemy.

It has militarized and is actively pursuing control over us to pursue its goals of imperial conquest. They have turned on us in treasonous ways.

It’s a evil sickness for humanity. It’s very difficult to react to those who profit from creating fear are your protectors in theory.

One can look at the insane samurai warriors who destroyed Japan’s civil culture leading up to their defeat in WW11 . Anyone group who takes all of humanities earned resources to literally blow it up while killing people can’t be the brightest boy on the block.

So it’s easy to point this simple view out and win the day.

Time to have a look at this mean spirited demented elephant in our space pretending to be innocent of any wrong doing as it looks on the mirror admiring itself.

Vanity is the killer motive in this murder mystery.
