It’s no surprise Israel doesn’t even bother to pretend it has a conscience. The release of the American IDF soldier who MSM claims was tortured daily and chained in a cage looks pretty healthy to me. He was checked out at a hospital and quickly released to his family. Compare that with the young Palestinian doctor who was raped to death in an Israeli prison.

This reminds me of something I watched a few years ago. An Israeli woman was taken hostage by Hamas - she lived with a family, was able to move around the house at will, the mother taught her to cook traditional Palestinian meals which she always ate with the family. She actually began to call the lady "mother" and when she was released she kept in touch secretly with the family. She told reporters how well she'd been treated but they refused to report it. She made the clip when she heard of the way Palestinian hostages were treated by Israel, trying to encourage them to show humanity. But I guess humanity just isn't part of certain peoples make up.

MastiffSal, Have you noticed how emaciated and broken the Palestinian prisoners are who were released by the Israeli regime... compared to the Israeli hostages. The Israelis seem to have been well cared for and fed - in spite of the starvation levels that the Palestinians were experiencing.

We don't expect the Western media to notice that, or write about the horror and torture and starvation the Palestinian prisoners were subjected to by the Zionists.

Interesting to note, that many of the Palestinians were also hostages, not prisoners. Many were not even charged with a crime. While many of the Israelis were taken as prisoners of war awaiting exchange, which is quite customary in prisoner of war situations. But the dominant narrative requires that Palestinians be called prisoners, and Israelis hostages regardless of the factual situation.

Briefing to the Security Council on the humanitarian situation and the protection of aid workers in Gaza by Tom Fletcher, Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator

Before starting, I ask you to reflect – for a moment – on what action we will tell future generations we each took to stop the 21st century atrocity to which we bear daily witness in Gaza.

It is a question we will hear, sometimes incredulous, sometimes furious – but always there – for the rest of our lives.

We will surely all claim to have been against it? Maybe we will say we issued a statement? Or that we trusted that private pressure might work, despite so much evidence to the contrary?

Or pretend that we thought a more brutal military offensive had more chance of bringing the hostages home than the negotiations which brought so many hostages home?

Maybe some will recall that in a transactional world we had other priorities.

Or maybe we will use those empty words: “We did all we could.”

Mr. President,

Let me start with what we see and are mandated by this Council to report.

Israel is deliberately and unashamedly imposing inhumane conditions on civilians in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

For more than 10 weeks, nothing has entered Gaza – no food, medicine, water or tents.

Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have, again, been forcibly displaced and confined into ever-shrinking spaces, as 70 per cent of Gaza’s territory is either within Israeli-militarized zones or under displacement orders.

As my colleague from the FAO will explain, every single one of the 2.1 million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip face the risk of famine. One in five face starvation.

Despite the fact that you have funded the food that could save them.

Susan, please read my comment to "The Revolution Continues," who also makes the unfortunate mistake to call the lobby who controls our government and society the "Israel Lobby." The proper, accurate term is "The Jewish Lobby." The use of the term, "Israel Lobby" is the result of a successful propaganda campaign by the Jewish Lobby.

Jim, I do understand what you are getting at. Like Davina below says maybe we can use the word "zionist Jewish lobby". In these pages together with Caitlin maybe we have been "too nice", even in the face of intense suffering meted out to the Palestinians.

I like to think that we are mindful of being respectful to one another and not cause harm or distress by using wrong speech. A sort of political correctness. Even if that sensitivity is used to weaponise "anti-semitism".

Also we should be mindful that a good number of Jewish people are against the carnage being carried out by the Zionist regime, aided and abetted by the US/West.

Indu, thanks for the discussion. Let me parse it.

"maybe we can use the word 'zionist Jewish lobby'"

That would be erroneous and misleading because not all the political objectives of the Jewish Lobby are related to Zionism. See my comment above that lists some of the concerns of this lobby that go beyond Zionism/Israel.

"we have been 'too nice', even in the face of intense suffering meted out to the Palestinians."

I wouldn't use the term "too nice" when the proper name of the Lobby in question is purposely suppressed by the Lobby in order to hide the identity of the people behind the Lobby and it helps the perpetrators conduct political action that induces profound suffering on the Palestinians, and it also severely damages our democracy, eroding our First Amendment Rights and forcing society to make expensive and unreasonable considerations uniquely for Jews at the expense of all others.

"I like to think that we are mindful of being respectful to one another and not cause harm or distress by using wrong speech."

You are saying that we should be respectful to people who intentionally lie and deceive in order to further their own wealth and power, to the immense suffering of innocent people. Should the Allies have shown such respect to the Nazis of Germany? Maybe you don't fully realize it, but Nazi Germany = Fascist Italy = Zionist Judaism. This is what we're up against. Instead of advocating respect for Jew Power, you are actually advocating that we worship Jews as superior beings. Also, your concern to "not cause harm or distress by wrong speech" is twisted logic. The correct speech is "The Jewish Lobby," and the wrong speech is that which this Lobby has brainwashed our society with.

Do a Google Ngram study on the terms, "The Jewish Lobby," and "The Israel Lobby." You'll find that in the late 1970's, the term "The Jewish Lobby" was growing in use. It peaked around 1980, but by about 1982, the term "Israel Lobby" took over and has increased to extremely large levels. I myself recall the use of the term, "The Jewish Lobby" routinely seen in the news, especially in the news that quoted what Israeli Jews were publishing. But the Jewish political leaders soon realized that people were not liking the control of our government that this Lobby was up to. These leaders put a stop to allowing the noun "Jew" to be in the same sentence that described wrongdoing. Never forget, Jews are smart; the Goyim are stupid.

"Also we should be mindful that a good number of Jewish people are against the carnage"

This is irrelevant simply because the percent of Jews who are against the carnage is negligible in their effect on the outcome. An analogy would be for you to say that, "Since there were American college students protesting the Vietnam War, you cannot say that Americans committed war crimes in Vietnam." I can think of a hundred other examples. Can you? I hope so. So it's a nonsensical defense of atrocity. There are an infinite numbe of examples that disprove such Jewish propaganda. Again, the Jewish Lobby is always a step ahead of the Goyim.

Hello Jim, Thank you. You have given me a lot to think about. I really appreciate your comments and the thoughtful arguments you present. I realise I was being rather naive and deserve to be taken to task.

The fact that we are caught up in a web of propaganda is all the more reason to be vigilant and coherent. I take all your arguments on board - the fact that we quibble about the "finer feelings" of Jewish communities -when the existential question is the survival of the Palestinian people on this day of the 77th anniversary of the Nakba.

My intention was never " a nonsensical defense of atrocity". Far from it, when our hearts and minds (for what it's worth) are with the suffering of the Palestinian people. And our righteous anger is with the Israeli regime and their backers and enablers, the US/West.

Over 200 journalists have been murdered by the world's most immoral army, the IDF. They do not want the world to see their psychopathic rampage in Gaza. They do not want anyone concluding that, not only are they pathetic soldiers who need to take down a hospital to target one man, but they are also fully aware that they are committing crimes. They need the crimes hidden from the outside world.

Should the world see what they are doing, they are then arrogantly confident that they can slap the "terrorist" label on the victims. It's wearing thin.

The brutality is so extreme they CANNOT hide it, no matter how many journalists they kill. More and more, I see them exposed.

Perhaps some of those doing this may even discover to their great horror that they have a conscience and they will never find rest from that as long as they live.

Revolution, it's very misleading to use the term, the "Israel Lobby." The more accurate and justifiable term is the "Jewish Lobby?" because the Jewish Lobby includes the Israel Lobby and is made up of the US Jewish leaders of nearly 400 US Jewish political organizations that are funded by the US Jewish community and probably also Israel to the level of billions of dollars.

The concerns of the Jewish lobby go far beyond Israel and include the legal definition and governmental/societal response to antisemitism, which incorporates the International Holocaust Alliance definition of “antisemitism” into both state and Federal law, and also incorporates legal restrictions on methods to supposedly counter antisemitism; the establishment of Federal governmental offices that are dedicated to the study of antisemitism in American society; the political and/or dominant roles played by Jews in government and society; the control of the public debate on such concerns via the formulation of a Jewish public narrative; the control of what is politically correct in such a debate; the passage of laws deemed necessary to protect Jews as a group separate from all other U.S. groups; the many funding methods used to transfer U.S. citizen monies tax free to Israel and its Jewish citizens, and many others.

The Christian Zionist movement is a minuscule part of the Israel Lobby as measured by the funding levels, the number of people involved, and effectiveness. Nobody is going to compete with Jews when it comes to ensuring that the USA government and society both unconditionally support the Jewish state. In fact, even key officials of Hagee's organization, Christians United for Israel, are Jews.

The normal way to label a lobby is to use the identity of the people who make up the lobby, not by the concerns of the lobby. For instance, there's an Arab Lobby, an Armenian Lobby, a Chinese Lobby, and African American Lobby, etc. So why would you label this lobby according to only one of its political interests?

I'm not just talking theory. The following link gives a list of some 500 Jewish political organizations, nearly 400 of which are in the USA. It also gives information on funding levels, comparing Jewish money to money from the Christian Right.

The label "Israel Lobby" is in fact a clever obfuscation perpetrated by the Jewish Lobby to keep the noun "Jew" out of political statements that indicate the reasons behind the fact that the USA is complicit with the war crimes of Israel.

Good for you. When your group succeeds in changing the behavior of Israel, and that of the Jewish political leaders both inside and outside Israel, I'll be impressed.

Until then, we must understand that the fact that some people in a group oppose the behavior of the group does not exonerate the group. Consider this example. There are protests by Americans on college campuses against the US complicity with Israel on its genocide. Does the fact of those protests mean that the US is no longer complicit?

Such an argument is thus nonsensical.

Yes, Jim. I do understand what you are saying.

But with all the faked antisemitism nonsense that has been part of the lives of this population for years and the overreactions by governments in favour of Israel, any movement showing resistance to such things with a preparedness to go public in this way is surely a positive.

As for those College campus protests, no one deserves more respect in my view than anyone who bucks the system like all of those people have done....against the odds and now being harrassed by the likes of ICE, the Stormtroopers of the current US regime.

Every bit counts. There are a lot of people to convince... perhaps over 300 million alone in the US and a lot of apathy as well. Yes. Time is against them.

What is flabbergasting is that many Americans are still supporting Trump (and hence supporting America's internal implosion and their OWN personal destruction). The only reason I can surmise for the people to choose their own destruction (unawaringly) is that they are in a CULT mindset.
