"The other day Tony Blinken posted an astonishingly obnoxious tweet fretting about how “This has been an extraordinarily dangerous year for press around the world,” as though his own administration had not directly facilitated the lion’s share of the deadly attacks on journalists in 2023. The utter gall of these freaks still surprises me sometimes."

Like a man who murdered his parents in cold blood crying about being an orphan.

They think the people are stupid, gullible, and will believe everything, and many are gullible an ill informed. Our middle eastern wars and the stupidity I've heard from politicians in regard to them and the acceptance they found, or too often the indifference of Americans, also let them get away with destroying a country and it's people.

They're right. Did not Hitler say that "what a blessing for rulers it is that humans are sheep!"?

You may find the following jail cell conversation with Hermann Goering to be most instructive:

Later in the conversation, Gilbert recorded Goering's observations that the common people can always be manipulated into supporting and fighting wars by their political leaders:

We got around to the subject of war again and I said that, contrary to his attitude, I did not think that the common people are very thankful for leaders who bring them war and destruction.

"Why, of course, the people don't want war," Goering shrugged. "Why would some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best that he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece. Naturally, the common people don't want war; neither in Russia nor in England nor in America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship or a Parliament or a Communist dictatorship."

"There is one difference," I pointed out. "In a democracy the people have some say in the matter through their elected representatives, and in the United States only Congress can declare wars."

"Oh, that is all well and good, but, voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country."

No doubt I expressed this before, but I'll repeat it again. As a kid I never knew why we portrayed Indians as bad when it was the cowboys, us, who were stealing their land and they fought to keep it. No adult no matter how many times asked gave me an answer that made any sense. I saw the light one day and realized my government just lies to me, so they had to be put aside and not trusted. Never pledged the flag as a child and said with liberty and justice for all since it was a lie. I felt better after that. The people are the country, not the government. I never supported any of our wars, in my lifetime. I can't believe there are not a whole lot of me out there. Hopefully the internet with other perspectives expressed will change things, I hope.

If you really want the truth (which your statement shows you don't) Hamas are Freedom Fighters and this was a military incursion done against the terrorist state of Israel. Those setller villages are all maned by armed guards and the people who were attacked were military. All Israeli people are soldiers. They were there to take hostages and the IDF opened fire killing everyone under the "Hannibal Directive". You can keep pulling the bullshit propaganda over your eyes or look for the truth like the gun site view from the Apache Helo when it opens fire on those party goers. You decide.

Expand full comment
bot_483's avatar

I do want the truth, not the BS socialists version, not the anti-palestinian version and not the anti-israeli version.

Hamas is on the record as stating they launched 5,000 rockets into israel. Hamas is on the record as stating 'the group’s _military operation_ is in response to all the atrocities the Palestinians have faced over the decades. “We want the international community to stop atrocities in Gaza, against Palestinian people, our holy sites like Al-Aqsa. All these things are the reason behind starting this battle,” he said.'

Hamas has stated they started a hot war with israel.

I asked and will ask again, what is the appropriate response to the escalation to a hot war? How does starting a hot war supposed to garner international support? Because it will create martyrs, apparently. I'm supposed to look at the response to the attack and side with the attackers? LOL. I'm supposed to look at a government that put the lives of 2.2M of its citizens at risk, reportedly now >20,000 are dead, and say, these are the good guys? Are you fucking crazy? Hamas is batshit insane.

Oh, and 'freedom fighters,' lolol. They are fighting for servitude. hamas doesn't offer 'freedom.'

Gaza has grown from 350,000 people in 1968 to 2.2M today. How is that possible given the reported horrible conditions?

As soon as israel was formed in 1948, egypt attacked, got the gaza strip and ran it. palestinians continually attacked israel from then until 1967. In 1987 hamas was formed from the muslim brotherhood, which itself was started in the 1930s on the boogeyman premise - a typical method used by cults - that the west wanted to get rid of muslims. It is an easy story to buy after the history of violent muslim incursion into the west. hamas has one directive, it is dedicated to Israel's destruction and restoration of Islamic rule in what it sees as occupied Palestine. Note: the ottomans, who ran the place for 500 years were not islamic rulers. hamas is asshat racists.

When hamas took control in 2006, much of the international community cut aid to the Palestinians in Hamas-controlled areas because they regarded Hamas as a terrorist organization. Which they clearly are. no one trusts the palestinians under hamas, not even other more peaceful islamic nations, like Jordan and eqypt. Their islamic jihad will not stop. so fuck them.

You're not getting a united socialist states of the middle east or whatever, sorry. So please stop the involuntary martyr of the poor saps in gaza, mkay, thnx.

Cowards like Bolton — who puff themselves up with fanatically deranged armchair visions of dying empire reconstituted by more violence — are but one example of this breed of sociopathic coward. But anyone who falls back onto religion as an excuse for modern action is a perfect example, particularly those maniacs who ply the tenets of a biblical text like the Old testament, in which the references to slaying enemies are everywhere. It's a new religion. They abandoned reality. No one is born in the wrong body.
