Excellent--so succinct. Love the line about the Democrats implementing the GOP goals better than the GOP! Have been trying to communicate this to liberals for a long time.

notBob's avatar

There is no left or right only the uniparty.

tanya marquette's avatar

Agree. The differences are in style

notBob's avatar

I always phrase it that the only difference between the two parties is marketing, its like the pepsi challenge, regardless of which glass of soda you choose Pepsi or Coke you are still left with a glass of sugar water.

tanya marquette's avatar

Your view works, too. Nice and simple and understandable. Good marketing.

Here in Australia we have the same problem, Liberal ( the Liberal Party here in Aus being right wing ) or Liberal Lite. I like to say 'Same pig, different lipstick'.

Its like a sports store that sells one teams memorabilia in the mall and across the way is a store that sells the other teams stuff. Dumbass kids come out of one and start fights with the other kids both wearing Caps and Jerseys with their teams. The same guy owns both stores. This is our political system.

Destruction of the poor family by dependency: Johnson

Normalizing deficit spending: Reagan.

"Ending welfare as we know it": Clinton

Legalizing Embryonic Stem Cell experimentation: "Christian" George Bush

Normalizing Government pressure on "Points of Light" to suppress speech that questions official government positions: Biden

Most common phrases among American "Christians" 2001-2008

1.) I wonder why President Bush did that [unChristian thing].

2.) God gave us President Bush to do Christian things.

Your articles are usually spot-on, this one exceptionally good because it's straight to the point - what does the world expect the Palestinians to do? For at least 40 years this has been a political issue, with solutions talked about, but never implemented. The U.S. clearly needs to cut funding to Israel until a viable solution has been reached. Israel has been so ghettoized with settlements that a 2-state solution doesn't seem possible.

JennyStokes's avatar

Biden won't do this because he will lose votes which is why it's essential for all Dems to vote 3rd party!

Until money is out of the US Party system nothing will change.

JennyStokes's avatar

Thank you for this reply.

I feel very strongly that Dems. (after looking at comments on WAPO) that NOTHING will happen and YOU will have 'warmonger' Biden leading the charge.

IF DEms had NOT been stupid when Bernie Sanders came onto the scene we would not be where we are now. He should have been President!

Cara MariAnna's avatar

Bernie Sanders went down the Russiagate rabbit hole. He's one hundred percent behind Biden's proxy war with Russia. He's a complete f*cking sellout. I have no use for the man and I once supported him.

Breakup Google's avatar

Agreed. Bernie Sanders is a traitor and sold out millions of people. Imagine being in a position in history twice to change things and you sell out both times. Never follow anyone of these old "reformers" who only want to repaint the same death machine. That's includes the disco preacher Cornel West. Same type of liar, no plan other name dropping people who actually did stuff in history and pretending he is one of them.

JennyStokes's avatar

He wasn't. Yes he joined the Dems and has in small increments been able to pull Dems a bit further to the left.

Kojo's avatar

Biden wont lose votes. He will lose MONEY from political action committees. And that money will be deliberately sent over to an opponent targeted at upending him. By Israelis.

But we are asked to instead believe the fiction that it is Russia meddling in US politics.

DomeLord's avatar

The U$ofA has been captured by the Money Power. The Money Power allows patently absurd but allowable levels of 'debt' provided it behaves itself & gives huge amounts of [imaginary] money to entities it approves of while leaving the citizens of the US with the barrelling usury 'debt' for future generations to pay! https://www.worldometers.info/us-debt-clock/ Israel is a Rothschild Project. Don't expect any help whatsoever for the Palestinians from the U$ofA; they'll probably be next as useful idiots have a limited shelf life.

Kojo's avatar

all the US politicians dont even run their own national policy on this matter.

On this matter, the US is rife with “foreign interference”….from Israel. AIPAC and all the rest. Israelis with US passports control all this.

And no the media wont say the truth on it either. Guess who controls that too?

Nocty1501's avatar

This may be extremely far-fetched and unfeasible given the political landscape, but I hope that the Arab world unites against Israel on the side of Palestine. From Afghanistan to Egypt, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to rid the Middle East of Zionism and - more importantly - of a major source of US influence.

If the Anglo/US/Israeli Empire vanished, the world would thrive.

Right. "Welcome the new boss; same as the old boss" surely would not pertain.

Nocty1501's avatar

It wouldn't. Not in a multipolar world.

If the principles of equality are implemented at an international scale, there will be no more hegemons.

A number of people in my US city in early 2022 who have no ties to Ukraine started proudly flying the Ukrainian flag and putting up signs - "Pray (prey in my mind) for Ukraine".

I suppose those flags will now be replaced by Israeli flags.

Its a little virtue club for them. None of those people will ever listen to any truth unless punched in the mouth first.

The answer to resolving Israel/Palestine conflict is easy but not easy to do. The entire conflict in BOTH sides is rooted in racism; Not the fake racism that the DNC uses as a political weapon, the real kind where Jews think they are ‘chosen’ by a imaginary god and are superior biologically and culturally to Palestinians AND Palestinians believe Jews are all evil and should be killed as their duty to Allah. Get rid of racists in leadership positions. Promote a generation of people that understand that we’re all one life force and all manifestations of ‘God’. Until this is admitted, there will be blood.

I fear that Iran is going to be used by the propaganda machine in the US more fully now and all the Biden wannabees will go along with it.

I've said before. The EU needs to get spine.

It's hard not to see eternal conflagrations as the world gets warmer.

So sad.

Feral Finster's avatar

Europeans are the biggest wimps on the planet. They like being slaves.

You'd have better luck getting Kermit The Frog to take charge.

JennyStokes's avatar

Feral. I agree to a certain point about Europe and I wish they would grow a spine to stop this US aggression. It's coming.

The amount of Americans leaving the US (Just in France) is 12,230 asking for residency cards.

This is just France.

Portugal is overwhelmed and it seems they are going to stop this.

We have refugees from all parts of the world.

Wait in line like other people!

What goes around comes around.

Feral Finster's avatar

Don't kid yourself.

Right now the talk is of banning AfD on any pretext, in order to prevent politicians opposed to American hegemony to power from getting elected. Germany already has gutted freedom of speech and assembly in order to squelch dissent from the war in Ukraine. The German political class didn't raise so much as a peep.

For that matter, Stoltenberg has stated that Slovakia will not be allowed to change its policies with regard to Ukraine.

Hell, the United States committed an act of war by blowing up Nordstream, and the only European response was to pretend it didn't happen. When a European is pressed, forced to admit that the US did it, they just stare at their shoes and mumble something about how they deserve it.

It might be wishful thinking BUT I am here and you are there and I doubt you read the French press.

Doris Wrench Eisler's avatar

It might be noted as well that Israel often oppresses and kills Palestinians for no reason other than as warning and discouragement - mowing the law, they call it. Or because Palestinian reaction then justifies serious counter-reaction, as is about to happen.

Feral Finster's avatar

"It would be easy for me to sit here in my armchair and say the Palestinians should either maintain the status quo or lie down, relinquish their homes and homeland and accept whatever table scraps they’re able to get, but we can see from the Palestinian perspective that that’s not reasonable."

Wasn't that the Jewish strategy during the Holocaust?.

How did that work out for them?

Doris Wrench Eisler's avatar

The "anti-semite" accusation loses a lot of its punch when upstanding anti-zionist Jews like Max Blumenthal and others are prominent and eloquent critics of Israel. What does it mean anyway? Palestinians are semites. Jews everywhere are very likely concerned, not only in human sympathy for the Gaza Palestinians who are about to be massacred, but how that reflects unjustly on Jews generally. As for Democrats - their callous support for the Ukraine proxy war against Russia is typical: they have launched far more wars than Republicans have, and are typically belligerent. As for LGBTQ and trans rights, these should not be politicized any more than brown eyes v blue, left v right- handedness, etc.

Mauro Vaiani's avatar

This is one of rare cases I don't agree.

Gaza is no more an Israel-occupied territory since almost twenty years. Hamas has the control since 2007.

Who is Hamas? She is Netanyahu's best friend, and an Iran's proxy, for start.

Many people will die because of Hamas, Netanyahu and Iran.

This is no more a Palestianian case.

Hamas does not represent the oppressed. They never did.

Glen Andersen's avatar

Technicalities technicalities…occupation takes many forms. You don’t need to be in a land to be occupying it. Some would maintain that simply by being on some random

Land because agents of history miraculously willed it to be so (with a Little terrorism on the part of the original Zionists. . Many people

Will die not because of Hamas ( though they would have assumed that) but because Israel has chosen to do what it always does, fight fire with a much larger fire

Israel never belonged in Palestine, 1948 Nakba. Both Jonathan Cook and Chris Hedges offer excellent articles on the subject. Any good human being must feel that the Palestinians have a right to defend themselves from Israel’s terrorist and illegal occupation.☮️⚖️🇵🇸

I Still say it could be a false flag. This is Israel playing 'the victim' again, and "retaliating".

Yes. I agree. It seems odd to me that suddenly the Israeli's were caught napping.

The Neocolonial Always Terror Organization and all its vassals will continue to do what colonialists do. For them it is “The West” vs “The Jungle”. And their court jesters in the media will continue to support and enable the colonial agenda, as always.

One critical part of war propaganda is to dehumanize the enemy - so when the killing begins, one can maintain a sick justification the people you are killing are not really human beings like yourself. One of the key depravities of rationalizing war.

Paul's avatar

As usual, you're on the money. I first visited Israel in 86 and have been back several times since. Since my first stay (kibbutz experience) I've read loads about this entire, rather messy, notwithstanding fascinating, subject. Spoken with Israelis and Palestinians. Attempted to truly see both perspectives. This whole situation simply bleeds with tragedy. The inability of global media and politics to acknowledge the PLIGHT of the Palestinian people and their national aspirations is a silence so deafening that it has to be the X that marks the spot where we all should be searching for the treasured elusive solution.

Cause a 1 state 2 state has left the station long ago.

Remember the clearing of settlers in Gaza? How many were there? How great was the ruckus?

Ask yourself how many "illegal" settlers are perched now on Palestinian land? Try and imagine their removal, it ain't gonna happen, ever.

You wrote well Caitlin.

I'm familiar with all that so don't need to "look it up".

What I would say to you however, it's wholly unhelpful to post these kind of comments. Your rhetoric is not conducive to learning and understanding, as much as you deeply believe that it is.

The blinkered mindset of the ultra orthodox or the rabid zionists is one thing, but most people living and working in Israel just want to live in peace. The question is how? Netanyahu has always declared his objective as "peace through strength" and therin lies the problem. Until a spirit of humanitarian unity enters into the dialogue they will forever be cursed to tread the vicious cycle of attack and retribution. Just imagine how many new terrorists have been created through the retaliation carried out by the IDF? An injustice has taken place and it needs to be called just that. Unfortunately such scenarios will have to take place in our imagination cause it sure doesn't look like happening any day soon. Politicians need to learn the language of peace. It shouldn't be hard and yet it appears to be impossible. I'll leave it there for now. Don't hate, there's already enough of that.
