I would only disagree on one point. They are definitely not “mental morons”. In fact, they are smart as hell; depraved and sociopathic, but quite smart. To say otherwise is to ignore the reality in two ways. First, they are smart and sophisticated, which is the opposite of the left. Second, they are winning and have been winning for 45 years, which is also the opposite of the left.
You've got it Jeff, they are what the text books label 'high functioning psychopaths', although I'd be reluctant to describe Trump as high functioning anything.
Michael Waltz? I think arrogant little twat more accurately describes Mr. "Waltz". Typical plump over-educated mommies boy who's never "worked"for a living or used his hands for anything other than shoveling food into his mouth.

With the help of massive injections of cash from the richest people and a constant diet of propaganda from the mainstream media...... Add some gerrymandering and screaming blue murder if they actually do lose to the mix, and you have winning for 45 years, as you describe.
I don’t doubt that you are. My point was about the left/progressive/socialist movement- not individuals. There is no need to personalize the observation. Please point to the successes those movements have had in the last 45 years.
Funny, now 39 Trillion in debt, 1.5 Trillion in a failed military, a failed war on Russia, a failed war on Iran, a failed war on Venezuela, infrastructure failing in every part of the country, bridges that can't be repaired, pretend jobs building AI data centers to reduce employment, falling population and the list goes on. You are right they are not Morons, they are idiots mainly with a few imbeciles, and I struggle to find the Morons the highest level of the mentally challenged. So you are right there are no Morons in control. BTW, it's hard to be sophisticated being either a idiot or imbecile.
I know this may sound naieve but shouldn't everyone who goes into politics be required to submit to a mandatory psychological examination to determine if they are psychopaths, sociopaths or suffer from other mental illnesses, delusions, dementia etc that may affect their integrity and performance of their duties.
I am so fed up with American and Israeli BS like this. In a sane world, their actions would be stopped and all responsible for these actions would be behind bars.
"Only the United States could bomb a country, kill its leader, massacre its children, declare the intention to destroy its military and topple its government, and then call that country’s retaliation against US military bases “unprovoked”."
That was my favorite part as well. Unbelievable. When people are so dense and entitled, it's impossible to get through to them until they get a good punch in the face. Sad but true.
Correct. All senators, congress persons, executive and judicial staff, are functioning as Israeli and World Bank operatives. They should be served specific Writs of *Quo Warranto* and arrested for Treason. None of them are serving "The People" and ALL of them should be incarcerated in maximum security prisons for the rest of their lives.
In the future when the American empire has bit the dust and the world is a more peaceful place, history scholars will ponder over why the common people living in 2026 didn't just use people power and the military or just a portion of it to simply round up all these psychos, try them for high treason and lock them up for life.
True and thanks, but it could just as well be the fact that I type with one arthritic hand; although in this case I think it was actually brain fart. Or Khomeini's ghost perhaps.

Mr. Orwell was so prescient 8 decades ago, his words prove more and more relevant to this day. Especially the words, "War is peace, freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength" It seems the powers that be have made these words their motto to subdue and mislead us lesser beings.
Those at the top never believed a word of what they said; it was always a political operation.
But the US regime is now seen for what it is. Not a word it says can be believed by people who still stand for law, truth, equity, justice, the premise of basic, human decency, etc.
Caitlin, you write, "Israel is pure cancer". I would amend that to say that BOTH Israel AND the U.S. are pure cancers - and these cancers have spread to most of the Western World.

Silly question: assuming the new Supreme Leader is in favour, what if another nuclear power within BRICS installed a few nuclear warheads on Irans soil in much the same way as NATO has been doing with some member states that are close to Russias borders ?
I understand when people say that but Iran do not wish to have a weapon that causes massive destruction to people, land, everything, they prefer to only use weapons they can have at least reasonable control over and I prefer their point of view to the countries that have them. And sadly the day will come that by a country having them it will not be the deterrent that it once was.
It's better than going against everything you believe in spiritually. That is why it has a Fatwah on it, and I guess I have more faith in their military abilities than you do.
there's a rationalisation for dumping the npt. what if there was an opportunity to sell nukes to your loyal allies like any other arms. like there'd be less shooting and gun-violence if everyone was carrying, not?
We need a name for the absurd propaganda that Western Media pumps out. Israeli propaganda is called Hasbara...
One of the things that demonstrates just how ignorant, willfully or otherwise, that people in Western media is their lack of knowledge of geo-politics. Or maybe it's just your basic "rules for thee and not for me."
Embassies and military bases that are located in a country other than that of the country of origin are by law, considered a "sovereign country within a country." That is, any USA bases located in the territory of a country "outside" of the USA operate "outside" of the confines of the country in which they are located. In other words, they are USA principalities. They are governed by the USA not the country that house them, though they are "supposedly" considered protectorates of the country in which they are located.
Thus they are more than just "representatives" of the USA, they are part of the USA. They are, in essence, USA territory, independent of the country in which they are located. Therefore, if the USA attacks a country outside of its contiguous borders, their embassies and military installations located in "other" countries are "legitimate" targets.
The USA would want to claim independence from the nations which houses their embassies and military installations when it is convenient, but ignore the International Law that describes these embassies as part of the USA, when it is not convenient.
If Iran attacks a military base owned and occupied by the USA, it is in effect, attacking the USA, and not the country that houses the base. Every country that houses the Embassy or military base of another country know this. If a country, that houses a USA military base or Embassy, claim that their "country" is under attack, then they are gaming the situation. They know full well they have no sovereignty over USA military bases, Embassies, territory and property located in their country. Any country that allows the USA to set up shop on their land have lost sovereignty over that land. If they thought that they would be protected by the USA, and perhaps they were in the past, that is not necessarily required as part of the agreement when they chose to allow the USA to have sovereign territory in their country.
I wasn't there when the countries from around the world decided to set up Embassies and military installations in other people's countries, but somebody did not read the fine print. It may have appeared to have been a friendly geopolitical and/or economic handshake between countries, but when you get right down to it, it is a form of pseudo-colonialism. And as far as the USA is concerned, with its more than 900 military bases around the globe, it's pseudo-colonialism big time.
The USA citizens, staff, military members, etc., who are hunkered down in the USA's embassies and military bases around the globe may have not gotten the memo, but if the USA decides to attack another country, then these sovereign entities located around the world are legitimate targets for retaliation. Watching the reaction of some of those folks as Iranian missiles rain down on USA military bases across the region, demonstrate that the "security" they thought they had, is a farce. And it is obvious that the Trumpster, governed by his Zionist puppeteers, could care less about putting these "Americans" in harms way when he attacked Iran and killed its Spiritual Leader, Military Leaders and the little girls in the school in southern Iran.
Nana Baakan Agyiriwah, Thank you for clearing that up. Iran has every right to defend itself and retaliate and hit the American bases in all these Arab countries. They are empire strongholds and countries that have them are vassal/ client states.
With USA having 600 or so military bases around the world what chance is there.....
When you dance with the devil, you cannot choose the tune. These vassals of the USA are finding out that the USA will not but more importantly "cannot" protect them because the do not have the military resources to do so. That so called iron dome does not stretch all over the middle east and Israel is having enough of a time protecting itself from all those missiles. It reminds me of the story of the hare and the tortoise. People tend to equate strength with speed, not strength with patience and strategy. Hobnobbing and rubbing elbows with a country that has no compunction when it comes to eliminating your neighbors is not a sustainable strategy.
I lived the comment about Iran building its country so close to all their military basis, not sure it was tongue in cheek 'cause some mericans can be truly dumb. Maybe the country, Iran, called Persia in the bible was there quite a few years before America existed by, let's say three, four thousand years?
When you carry a whole lot of supremist hubris in your veins, you tend to see the world through your lens. This supremist hubris is deficient when calculating how a country like Persia (today's Iran) would respond. The USA is a baby country comparatively speaking. It works on the auspices of "might makes right". It has no long term historical strength embedded in its DNA. It only has the history of being the world's bully because it has bigger badder bombs. Ever since WWII that has been the USA's claim to fame. It's the world's upstart, but it is not the world's leader. A bully only has short lived power. Eventually, it will meet a bigger and badder power that is not going to be intimidated by all its barking.
A lesson for israel also, still on breast milk but thinks it can bully everyone because... the are are so many because one being they believe they have America over a barrell, or drumof anyway, the others were more cautious when it came to starting wars, especially with an ancient country that understands you only too well and has a long, long history behind them that you can ever match.
This is what Israel has wanted for a long time and now their dream has come true. The old saying — “Be careful what you wish for, you might get it” — has a ring to it. Iran will decide how long this war lasts, not BiBi and Dumkopft, who have already mentioned they’re up for a return to the negotiating table. Brave, patriotic Israelis are fleeing (the rich ones already took off) as the Iron Dome turned out to be not as amazing as they thought.
Sounds like a repeat of last year during the 12 days of Iran giving Israel a light clip round the ear in warning. This time they get one hell of a spanking for not taking notice the first time.
The biggest lie that upset me was the pre-recorded message of Trump justifying the attack saying that there was an imminent threat from Iran. That is literally impossible, as in absurd.
There are two reasons for the attack:
1. To distract from the Epstein scandal which continues to narrow in on Trump and
2. As part of the larger US geopolitical effort to choke off oil for China by taking control of oil sources like Venezuela and Iran. Chinas is the great threat, as it overtakes the US in economic power and even global trust But China, until it is fully green, needs foreign oil, and just as the US sanctions that deprived Japan of oil in the 40's and drove them to attack Pearl Harbor, the efforts to block oil to China, with Iranian being a large supplier, can trigger catastrophic consequences. China is paying the waiting game and so if it can forestall the US ability to choke off its oil supply (it is now tight with Russian and building pipelines to bypass oceaning disrupton at key straits (such as Hormuz, which blocking would hurt Trump more with soaring gas prices as the November election nears) and so if it can transitioin to mostly green energy before the US is able to bomb enough countries to shrink its import of oil, it can outlast the US desperate attempt to defeat China by doing what it did to Japan 85 yrs ago.
I noted, as my most pissed moment checking in on 3 or 4 MSM tv news programs and finding their extensive reporting on the illegal (they never mentioned this) killing of the Iranian religious leader (violation of international, US and Isrraeli law) they never once mentioned the killing over over 100 young girls on the first day of the criminal war. Not a word. If one undocumented immigrant in the US kills someone (US has about 50 murders a day by US citizen, never mentioned),it is national headline news. But 160 girls killed in their elementary schools.......kind of a downer so let's just skip it and talk about the "large crowds (several hundred shown in video, most just watching a small group dancing (bty, Iranians dance at funderals)) celebrating the death of the 86 yr old religious leader in his own residence, now a martyr in a relgion built on martyrdom, and ignoring the tens of millions grieving.
3. Third reason for attack: to assert Israeli hegemony in the Middle East, as a tool of US hegemony globally.
Which is why drumpf can be arrested and convicted as being a foreign agent, and thereby forced from office. He has claimed often loudly that zionist israeli Miriam Adelson owns him, but she's not the only one, whoever holds the most Epstein files also owns him because, I'm sure, if the people of America knew the extent of his crimes against children and young girls, they would stone him to death, especially parents of traumatised raped children having seen what it did to them. He is a traitor to his country.
I just was led to this by someone here , as why he does not support the Democrats efforts to block Trump's war powers or stop shipping arms to Israel: The Democrat strategy—to allow Trump to absorb the domestic backlash for an unpopular war while Team Blue can pretend to be anti-war"
In fact, the Democrats in the Senate have all but one Democrat (braindamaged Fetterman) supporting the bill to limit Trump: Here is the reality: "Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) is so far the only Senate Democrat who publicly said he plans to vote against the current war-powers limitation resolution."
As the old adage goes, don't listen so much to what they say but what they do: so all but one Democrat is ready to vote for the bill to curb Trump's powers to wage war, and in the House, out of over 200 Democrats, from 2-5 may not support it, so roughly 98% are not just talking but acting to vote to limit Trump. In the Sente, there are 5 Republicans who will join the Democrats and in the House, practially the Repubs will refuse to vote to restrain Trump... There are two levels to this overwhelming Democratic majority to pass the bill 1) in the hope that enough Republcans will join and 2) even if that fails, to put Republicans on the record at supporting a war that only 21% of the public supports, according to the latest poll. This would help put these Republican war supporters in the back seat next year and neuter Trump both domestically and in his foreign policy ventures. Either way, if you don't support the 98% Democratic effort to curb Trump, you might as well join MAGA.
BTW, this same moron claims the Democratic Party, which now opposes the War on Gaza as well as the War on Iran, is moving to the right. That is so stupid! The leading lights today, as the older leaders fade into the dust, are Sanders, mentoring a new cadre of radical progressives and Ro Khana, who is leading the fight to reveal all the Epstein files ands stop Trump in his tracks.
"Leaders like Bill Clinton and Barack Obama exemplified that. They set the tone: don’t scare the center, appeal to independents.
Today, that dynamic is weaker. Centrists don’t control the narrative the same way:
Progressive or left-leaning voices like Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and others are major influencers within the party — beyond just fringe roles.
Policies that were once considered radical (e.g., debt relief, big climate plans, expanding Medicare) are now mainstream within Democratic platforms.
So in that sense, yes, the left-leaning faction has gained power and influence."
For example, Democratic Socialist Bernie Sanders who first talked of stopping arms to Israel 38 years ago and today has got the majority of Dems for the first time to support his bill ending arms support, is the most approved leader in the US with a +11 approval rating. AOC, whom he has mentored, another Democratic Socialist, now ranks as the 6th most approved leader, with Trump back at 1th th. And of active politicians only Harris and Warren (both with very high progressive voting records in the Senate --look it up at Progressivepunch) , AOC is third. Even Mamdami, just emerged out of nowhere to be Mayor of NYC is highly ranked nationally, 9th, much higher than people like Mark Kelley and other well-known leaders. He too is a democratic socialist...so anyone claiming the Democrats are moving to the right is either a paid troll or sadly stupid.
No, you are bitching. Dems are voting, with 98% in Senate and House voting for bill to curb Trump's war powers. If they wanted the war they would not be voting against it. You are totally clueless.
Do you prefer Trump? "In terms of actual fighting and casualties: the conflict is still very active and violent — roughly as intense as before Trump took office. There’s no clear drop in combat intensity." If you prefer Trump, I understand why you don't want Democrats to impeach him and ban shipping arms to Gaza.
US aid to Ukraine does not increase fighting but likely decreases it: "When U.S. aid slowed, fighting did not slow
In late 2023 and early 2024, U.S. aid was delayed for months due largely to Republican opposition in the House. During that period:
Russia intensified missile and drone strikes.
Ukrainian forces faced artillery shortages.
Russia made incremental territorial gains in eastern Ukraine.
The battlefield did not cool down. If anything, Russia pressed harder when Ukraine was short on ammunition.
2️⃣ War intensity depends on Moscow and Kyiv, not U.S. party politics
Combat tempo is primarily driven by:
Russian strategic decisions
Ukrainian defensive capacity
Seasonal conditions
Weapons and manpower availability
A debate in Congress doesn’t automatically translate into fewer Russian offensives." So your concern is basically irrelevant but if you want to impeach Trump and stop arming Israel, either lend a hand or get out of the way, as irrelevant issues of party positions on the Ukraine war are bassically meaningless. I support Democrats when they are right (impeach Trump, stop arming Israel) and oppose when wrong. When they are wrong, I support those Democrats who oppose the majority position (such as Sanders voting against aid to both Ukraine and Israel: "In February 2024, Sanders was one of only a handful of senators who voted “No” on a roughly $95 billion supplemental foreign aid bill that included about $60 billion for Ukraine’s defense, along with aid for Israel and other areas." I support those working to end the wars by ending funding for war.....and oppose those of either party who promote war. For instance, I support Democrat Khana and Republican Massie in their coopertion on major issues that align with progressvie values:
"Massie and Khanna
both support limiting executive war powers and want Congress to authorize military action.
They’ve worked together on civil liberties issues like surveillance reform.
They overlap in opposing unchecked corporate subsidies.
They both question endless U.S. military intervention.
If you don't understand this, it is because you have no understanding of politics and how change can be effected. It's basic morality: support what aligns with your values; oppose what does not...and don't worry about labels, just momentum and results.
Trump is dancing like Pinocchio and the 'young' bankers are pulling the strings. Their parents died, and they failed to teach their coke sniffing children the way they played the game.
Its now the clueless children who are dicking around.
Mike Waltz is auditioning for a job as a late night comedian to fill in when all the real comedians are kicked off the legacy networks in the US… the problem is, the jokes are stale rehashed shit that nobody will listen to. The reason he’s telling this joke that nobody believes is that the US and Israel got stung badly by Iran’s response… targeting command and control bases the US set up throughout the Middle East and exposing those ties to the whole world. (There is a quote from Mao tse-tung written when CCP troops were fighting the Japanese after they invaded China just prior to WWII which says “[to be attacked by the enemy is a good thing], it demonstrates that we have not only drawn a clear line of demarcation between the enemy and ourselves but achieved a great deal in our work”). I guess the US is finding out that trying to take out a 5000 year old country with a real military is harder than killing peaceful demonstrators and Israel is learning a similar lesson that war with a nation that has a real military arsenal is much harder than bombing hospitals, raping hostages, strafing tents of civilians or murdering starving people waiting in food lines.
"Only the United States could bomb a country, kill its leader, massacre its children, declare the intention to destroy its military and topple its government, and then call that country’s retaliation against US military bases “unprovoked”."
Yeah, that takes a lot of arrogance and audacity. Not positive traits at all. Not an indication of well upstairs leadership at all.
But at least Iran is helping the US shrink the number of their overseas military bases--now, that's positive!
So tired of reading about my completely fucked up country. It's amazing how much discontent there is and also how much consensus there is about the moral and economic poverty of our government. I can find common ground with anyone about that despite people sometimes lazily defaulting to partisanship where old habits die hard. Stiil, your stuff's well written, Caitlin, always a joy to read.
The Trump regime is composed of people who are totally depraved. A toxic bunch of mental morons, moral miscreants and psychopathic nitwits. Pure scum.
I would only disagree on one point. They are definitely not “mental morons”. In fact, they are smart as hell; depraved and sociopathic, but quite smart. To say otherwise is to ignore the reality in two ways. First, they are smart and sophisticated, which is the opposite of the left. Jeff there is a word for that - they are evil. An infinite satanic evil.
I would add Malignant Narcissist. That is a true accomplishment the highest level of Narcissist : )
You've got it Jeff, they are what the text books label 'high functioning psychopaths', although I'd be reluctant to describe Trump as high functioning anything.
It is always a mistake to underestimate your opponent.
True, but I like the one that says 'Never interrupt your opponent when he's making a mistake'.
Michael Waltz? I think arrogant little twat more accurately describes Mr. "Waltz". Typical plump over-educated mommies boy who's never "worked"for a living or used his hands for anything other than shoveling food into his mouth.

Hypocrisy, double standards, lying, corruption, is the essence of the USA society. It was obvious 30+ years ago.
...obvious ~250 years ago...
Your Establishment inherited their way of doing things from our UK Establishment. They learned very well indeed.
My thoughts exactly.
I am not that old 😄
That was my favorite part as well. Unbelievable. When people are so dense and entitled, it's impossible to get through to them until they get a good punch in the face. Sad but true.
Unprovoked.......is this the ONLY word in their vocabulary. I suggest all senators/congress people be relieved of their posts. Then regime change.
Correct. All senators, congress persons, executive and judicial staff, are functioning as Israeli and World Bank operatives. At least this is getting my mind off private equity's exploitation of American Working folks for a few days I guess
Its blunt like bankrobbers.
You've been had Trump. You lost this the moment you allowed Khomeini to choose martyrdom and stiffen that society's spine and its resolve. Gotcha!
While Netanyahu took a private jet to Berlin while his people felt Iran’s wrath. The perfect encapsulation of cowardice.
I would not have expected any other behavior from Mr. Mileikowsky
Any relation to, y'know ..... Milei?? Jusst wondering.
What did you expect from chosenites
well said Mr. Douglas. To expect anything else from their ilk is to delude oneself

Aerial bombardment for thee but not for me.
Just what Scott Ritter said in his dialogue today with Danny Haiphong (well worth finding it!)
Did see it, thanks.
I think you mean Khameinei. Khomeini has been dead for decades.
True and thanks, but it could just as well be the fact that I type with one arthritic hand; although in this case I think it was actually brain fart. Or Khomeini's ghost perhaps.

The US and Israel killed the main stop for Iran to produce a nuclear weapon. The next Supreme Leader maybe willing to cancel the fatwa against nuclear weapons. Good job cretins!
Too late for Iran. They were foolish not to have gotten The Bomb when they could have.
I am not sure it is too late. After giving a good beating to US and Israel, it will Iran that impose conditions.
Let's wait before taking a victory lap, much as I'd love to be wrong.

I get that they don't want it. The moral high ground won't do them any good.
As you said, wait before doing a victory lap. That applies to all sides. Could be their " moral" high ground will be justified.
Hope is hardly a strategy.
Iran's enemies already are carrying and will not stop carrying. Nor will they hesitate to use their weapons.
So either respond in kind or get nuked.

Daniel Davis lays it out quite clearly in this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaZPvPlIOe8&t=2747s
Anyone looking for a reason to charge Trump with something has a galaxy of crimes to choose from.
So, who is going to do it?
the people of america can be easily manipulated not to stone any pedophile, imo.
When you're right, you're right.
It would take a massive Democratic victory in November to create the power to impeach and convict Trump. Lend a hand or get out of the way.
So we can get war on Russia.
Rich that you expect so much out of the same democrats that can't seem to go on the record whether or not they support this war.
Democrats bitching about process, not the war itself.
Basically, Team D wants the war, but want to blame Trump if things go wrong.
The United States isn't interested in decreasing fighting in Ukraine, regardless who is in charge and Team D cannot take a stand on The War On Iran.

"If you don't understand this, it is because you have no understanding of politics and how change can be effected"
That's rich, as Team D has changed, shifting further to the right - but with pronouns.
🤮
What a joke, then what does he call the joint strikes on Iran?
Rubio said it was self defense.
Imperialists consistently claim innocent victimhood so as to justify their aggression. This is seen throughout modern political history.
His comment would have been hilarious, if it wasn't such a serious matter.
Yes, there is indeed a common disgust among many US people, but there is yet no GPS out of the sewer.
Let Iran go to stage 2 of their plan, ALL BASES and Israel needs wiped off the region.
Iran has the right to defend himself, as does Lebanon, Yemen and Palestine!
