I’m not a biblical scholar but I have read the whole book. One belief (I guess you would call it that) is absolutely the ancient nomadic tribe of Israel was promised the land we know as Palestine and God likes them best and they can do whatever they want to hang on to what they want. This probably worked out well for them several thousand years ago — I imagine life was plenty brutal and it was handy to have a brutal God backing you up — but it’s time to update to reality.
There is more than the written artefacts. There is the study of its long series of writing and editing and its hindsight narration from very long time. It has grown to accumulate enough verifiable or criticable data to paint a ruling classes attempt at syncretizing many existing nearby beliefs and stories of devierse organism and diverse branching.
