Society in general can't see this dystopian onslaught, either suffering from willful blindness or self-induced dystopia myopia.

Sadly, you are so right.😭

I think lots of people do see this ever creeping dystopia approaching, especially older generation of which I’m one. Most younger peoples energy is taken up in just surviving neoliberalism - working in evermore insecure jobs to put a roof over their/their families heads which in itself is increasingly difficult here in Oz …..

Germany had an extraordinary welfare state from the 1970s through the mid-1990s, especially for political refugees. If you needed support, there was no arbitrary time limit on unemployment benefits. Families received Kleidergeld (a clothing allowance every six months), Kindergeld (monthly payments for each child until adulthood), assistance for school supplies, funding for official school trips, and utilities were often paid directly to the providers.

There was even something called Urlaubsgeld which was vacation assistance. It wasn't a luxury holiday abroad; the idea was that rest and mental well-being mattered. Families could take an affordable trip within Germany by train or car and stay somewhere simple, like a bed-and-breakfast or a farm. That's how many families, despite having very little, were able to spend time on a farm or visit the Baltic Sea one summer. Those experiences would have been impossible otherwise.

Then, after the fall of the Sovie Union, and therefore nothing there to challenge the predatory capitalist system, America's neoliberalism begun infesting the nation. By the end mid to the end of 90s, the Deutsche Post was being privatized, and it's been downhill ever since. Many of those programs were slashed or replaced with vouchers, adopting one of America's worst habits: means-tested assistance instead of universal benefits.

Germany never had a housing voucher system like America's Section 8. If you qualified for assistance, you could live wherever you wanted within reasonable limits, and the state paid the rent. That has become increasingly restrictive as well.

Now Germany has a former BlackRock executive as chancellor and is dismantling what's left of its social safety net while funneling more money toward corporations and the military-industrial complex through NATO. It is very sad to see what future generations and children looking to have a life of dignity will never have and are deprived of. Germany's safety net allowed me to have a safe childhood where i could focus on school and studies.

The virus of capitalism and militarism is taking the world down. The policies that once made life secure and dignified are being dismantled to feed NATO and this is only the beginning.

You are so right, dear Caitlin. Cop City in Atlanta here in the USA is designed to train police in urban warfare. Who do you think are the targets? Us.

Dog-cannons are the worst. I picture a small child walking up to one thinking, happily, "Robot puppy!" And then: BLAM.

Earlier in another comment section, I was bemoaning the fact that I ever went online when I did, caught now in the web they set up for our surveillance and control. I could get off, but it would take great effort. But maybe if this keeps up.....

And as with much of their tactics, we see the usual justification that "it's for the children". Yeah, sure. Liars!

Thank you💐

These mass surveillance laws are always framed as “protecting the children” but these same politicians don’t seem to have the same enthusiasm for protecting children from hunger (I mean “food insecurity”), polluted drinking water, junk food commercials aimed at kids and violence on TV. Our governor, Greg Abbot, announced there would be no free food for poor kids over the summer. Christianity in action.

The robotic attack dog-looking things will be replaced with humanoid-looking things as soon as Elon has mastered it. They’ll be able to spray crowds with teargas as well as bullets so multipurpose killing machines! I can’t figure out what kind of a world they think they’re creating.

I believe the main lesson our oligarchic overlords learned from the pandemic was: Don't dish out a full turd pie. Dish out lots of turd amuses-bouches.

They don't presecute the Epstein class, they watch the genocide of children in Gaza, they allow children to starve, they are polluting our waters, skies and soil, they allow children mining uranium, they allow mllions of children to live below the poverty line but are happy to use the excuse of protecting them to mass survey all of us, to take away internet freedom, to watch and monitor everything we say and arrest us for thought crimes before we do anything. They arrest us as terrorists when we protest. We need to organise, educate and resist!

"The longer we wait for revolution, the more weapons they’ll have in place to stop us."

We can't wait any longer--the time has come. We don't want to be overwhelmed with robot dogs armed to the "teeth." Get your paintball guns out now--aim at their sensors! Take out your local the Flock cameras with a green laser... We can fight back and we are fighting back and we WILL win!

Caitlin, your dispatches from the edge of dystopia are spot on, but diagnosing the terminal illness is no longer enough. If we continue on this trajectory, humanity will not survive the existential threats racing toward us.

Steering a system as massive as our global civilization in a better direction requires engaging directly with the political process—but we cannot do that without a completely new blueprint for global alignment and governance. I’ve spent years developing a structured framework to address this, and I've laid out the entire thesis in two concise, hard-hitting short films.

If you want the actionable path out of the abyss, go to YouTube and search for my channel: @kevinflynn2639. Watch the 19-minute film and the 9-minute film. The solutions are fully figured out; the only hurdle left is breaking through the collective noise to implement them.

Today in dystopia we are reading scores of articles that tell us how imprisoned we are and feeling outraged while basically doing nothing about it, as we are programmed to do.
