Members of the Biden administration should be charged with 18 U.S. Code § 1091, the law that brought the genocide convention into US law. Put this statute in their faces, up front and center at every protest at every meeting, press conference, briefing, and trips home and abroad.

They may feel they are immune now, but let's get them considering what is possible when they leave office, given they have set the precedent of charging former presidents. Here's the best news of all, "an offense under this section, an indictment may be found, or information instituted, at any time without limitation."They should have visions of prison all the days of their lives.

The propagandists in the Mainstream Media need to be charged as well.

Let us find the way!

Joy, I'm probably older than you and I had similar hopes that George Bush would also meet with justice. It never happened. But we can hope.

Expand full comment

Maybe, but I'm 79. Not much room at the top of that! But good on you, regardless. As for being charged, it shoulda happened to LBJ, and Reagan as well.

I'm 47 and have yet to see either Bush or Cheney served (thanks for NOTHING, Nobama!), but I would like to see every president since Reagan (dig up his rotting corpse) in handcuffs.

Before the only one trial rule; they used to do just that to what was once a person if more charges were found later.

LBJ particularly, Joy, when his cowardly call back of the US Air Force taking off to save the USS Liberty from Israel's attack was implemented.

The Israelis knew then that the US was able to be controlled and how right they have been. They have never looked back since..

Yes, it was 1967, 57 years ago, but their skullduggery commenced then.

Even in today's climate of murder and deaths by the thousands, we still see Germany, France, the UK, the little Pacific based White Anglos and countless others all tolerating a genocide by Israel, planned as far back as 1967, I'll wager.

It shows a weakness of character in all those corrupted countries from which few will recover as decent respected countries any more, all chomping at the bit to go one step further by attacking Russia as pathetic US proxies on the word of a demented US President, a puppet to the most hated regime in history.

ISRAEL, with millions of their supportive spies walking the streets of every city in America, free as a breeze, so many acting on behalf a foreign state.

Hitler's Third Reich now superseded as the world's criminal #1.

Is that all? What him being involved in Kennedy's murder? That doesn't count? Of course not, because nobody gives a damn. And, for some reason you don't think that you're better off dead? When if ever were you planning on standing up strong and doing something about it? Don't tell me; you live in Russia and it's none of your concern.

The NY Times story includes a video. After showing the atrocity, the video shows a small maybe 2 foot wide hole in the corner of a tiled roof and a caption then states that the atrocity came AFTER Hamas fired rockets on Israel.

The clear implication is that The NY Times justified the Rafah atrocity as retaliation by Israel for a Hamas rocket "strike".

The NYT should be boycotted. They’re playing a huge party in all these atrocities.

Excellent words. This conflict has affected me greatly, but our so called leaders seem to be indifferent to the plight of the Palestinians. ‘Apathy is at fever pitch!’

In response to your new, and powerful words, I can only repeat what I have been saying, with little new, since I found my voice last October.

There must be an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Pope Francis has said what is needed, now he must do what is needed by going to Gaza and standing for peace, justice and freedom.

Please sign the petition and share widely.

Also we can all support the brave doctors who have gone to Gaza: https://palestinian-ama.networkforgood.com/projects/206145-gaza-medical-supplies-oct-2023

Let us make our donations to honor Aaron Bushnell, or in memory of Hind Rajab.

The Vatican is controlled by Israel, the Pope is treated like an uninvited Guest, despized by many who work there, many of the Church's Bishops are obvious fascist. After 1503, the Church became a shell of its former self. Its only real function now is to wait for the Messiah; which is part of the reason for the whole Gaza thingy(an intentional salute to Judaism) If a Messiah were to actually show up, it would probably be the death of us all for having allowed all these genocides, etcetera to have gone on for so long unabated.

Gaza teaches us about the evils in our world and the work we need to do. Best moments are during protests when we all join to the beat of the drums and kind of dance through the streets thinking of our fellow human beings in Palestine and elsewhere.

So true and so sad Caitlin! Though absolutely beautiful written.

The Western Capitalist Countries and there Allies seem to have lost all sense of any Normal Moral Compass in there overall pursuit of Power whilst they try and protect, control and secure the dwindling Earth's resources for themselves which becomes more critical every day as a result of Climate Change and Population Growth.

What is the answer.

It's certainly not easy.

Maybe it's all just part of the Matrix Game that Civilisation is currently in and that the present Capitalist Masters have clearly demonstrated they don't have the Moral Acuity and Compassionate Ability to deal with successfully.

Certainly at this rate anyway, it won't be long before we face a complete Civilization Collapse.

Maybe the coming generations when they pick up the pieces from Civilisations Collapse and start the game again under the watchful eye of the Games Originator will do better.

Or maybe not.

Thank you Caitlin for justly assembling these graphic and shocking words on the page. May those in power and all the world wake up to the horrors and stark reality of genocide. To those responsible : Stop the bloody violence. Violence is NEVER the solution . Violence breeds violence.

I don't know if our ruling class actually made any decision at all. They seem to me to be more like a small child having a temper tantrum, flinging themselves about and screaming without hearing any words of reason. The ruling class is desperate to have power and they will do whatever it takes to get it. Or at least the appearance of power.

Expand full comment

They already have it, and they will maintain this power by escalating as much as necessary to keep it. They will use whatever is at their disposal and destroy as much as they need to.

This is human nature at work, and it's inside all of us. If you want to understand what causes wars, look within. That's why I believe nuclear war is more likely than not.

Expand full comment

I absolutely disagree that this is human nature. Babies are not this way. Probably not even the babies of the powerful. People learn to think that power and money are the most important things they could achieve. They are not born that way.

Here's my LTE to NY Times in response to the "Chill" over Jewish writers Oped:

Dear Editor:

Re: A Chill Has Fallen Over Jews in Publishing (5/27/24)

I just read the subject piece after watching videos of Rafah burning & beheaded babies. Should I title this reply "A Heat Has Fallen Over Palestinians Living In Tents In Gaza"?

Based on an extraordinarily well documented complaint filed by South Africa, the International Court of Justice found a "plausible" basis for the legal charge of genocide and issued 3 sets of Orders to stop the murder that Israel has violated with impunity.

The prosecutor for the International Criminal Court just requested arrest warrants for Netanyahu for, among other things, mass murder and using starvation as a weapon of war, a crime against humanity.

All these "facts on the ground" are not, as your Op-Ed author wrote, "political fashion statement(s), a bauble one parades around in order to signify being on the right team."

Not only were the arguments made in that piece knowingly factually false, the author smeared people of conscience throughout the world that are appalled by Israel's genocidal ethnic cleansing.
