I'm re-reading John Toland's "Adolf Hitler" presently who often is painted as this caricature figure somehow detached from reality. The algorithms monitoring my access to information on the Internet keep restricting what I see more and more all the time. It's difficult to find any followup on news stories. I want to hear the speeches leaders give from other countries...Putin's have been on point IMO. Many American journalists have turned to RT over the years where they have been allowed to speak uncensored. So as with any news source, I would rather use my critical thinking skills to discern what is truth ( as far as we can know) and what is propaganda. Zelensky always capitalized on his acting career - that's what it takes these days. He just thought he was better at it, and smarter. So good at his trade and so smart that he could pass cowardice off as bravery, the impossible as viable, and gross injustice as fair and acceptable. He had a chance to implement Minsk I and II, and was elected to do just that. But he went for personal safety and big bucks - which usually brings safety. But looming starvation, severe austerity, economic disaster as the menu for the peripheral, shadow actors is unacceptable, and can't be pretended away as easily as war, death and destruction usually are. He acted himself into a corner. He's no longer safe, so, like a coward, he's pushing the family man/values button. But that movie is passe, it's downright boring these days, even if you don't remember the guy's a brutal killer.

My guess is that Mr. Z originally thought running for president was a goof or publicity stunt, but then he won. His ostensible positions in the previous electoral campaign would be written off as humor. Is he a faker? Of course; that's his profession.
