Israeli Hasbara machine at work. No decent human being respects Israel. It has no integrity. Nor does the USA.

Very true and as I keep saying this will raise anti-Semitism to unbearable heights. How ironic first it was the civil rights movement that got set back 50 years after Obama and then you had the same thing happen to the gay rights movement after all this transgender bullshit!

I'd like to think that people are a little more sophisticated in their thinking than that (antisemitism); but I could be quite wrong.

To an extent it depends what you mean by "antisemitism". If I remember correctly, the word was first coined to mean specifically "opposition to Jews AS A RACE". This was at a time when everyone was thinking in terms of "the British race", the German race". I don't think any of those three examples is a race, in biological terms.

Most people use it to mean "prejudice against Jews", and I think there's MUCH less of that around than Jews are brought up to believe. (But my experience may not be representative).

However the ADL and politians like to use it (deceptively) to mean "opposition to Israel" or "opposition to Zionists". If you accept THEIR meaning then it's ubiquitous! Opposition to Israeli treatment of Palestinians, or the attitude that killing a non-Jew is a lesser crime than killing a Jew, is roughly proportional to how well-informed people are about the situation in Palestine.

Yes, I think they have miscalculated our sophistication in regards to the condemnation of brutal and illegal treatment of Palestine in retaliation for oct 7th.

Yes if anti semitic is opposition to apartheid and murder then count me in.

I suspect that might be a common reaction!

So if I am opposed to Nazi Germany, does that make me "anti-German"?

Feral! There you are! I’ve missed you!

Expand full comment

That seems unlikely (depending on how you define your terms). Why do you ask?

Expand full comment

Since plenty of people conflate opposition to Israel as it is currently constituted with anti-Semitism. In many cases, the conflation is intentional.

Why should such logic apply solely to Israel? If I am opposed to policies of the government of India, that doesn't mean that I hate Indian people, does it?

Expand full comment

Quite so. That sounds like the sort of argument I was trying to put.

You are completely correct and I commend you.

Unfortunately, you're right. Zionist assholism and insistence on special pleading has done more to fuel antisemitism than all the morons ever to post on the internet.

The BBC is also implying that pro peace in Palestine is contributing to anti-Semitism which Sunak is very worried about so has visited some Jewish schools. I think they are creating anti anti-semitism (as in Jew hating; Arabs are also semites) ie Islamophobia. No one in MSM has mentioned any hate crime against Moslem's, a sizeable population in the UK, though I know there has been some.

Expand full comment

Well, actually, in strict terms most Jews are not demites. They are east European in origin. That's unless one believes that someone can have a quick (if painful) medical procedure, spend half and hour with a Rabbi and bingo:be suddenly, magically transformed into a semite!

There is so much more to all this than any of us can possibly imagine! Perhaps it really is about One World Order. We are now on the cusp of WWIII and civil unrest throughout the entire world. It appears as though they are deliberating starting fires everywhere and inflaming everyone.

Expand full comment

Yes, you are right. I don't think it's one world. I think it's the dying empire, they hate (because they fear) women, gay people, black and brown people (they allow a few in high places as long as they are worse than the are) and need to create major war to make them feel they are still relevant.

Bring on BRICS.

Expand full comment

Yes. This is all deliberate. Right wing governments fund Stonewall and BLM to create division (and take all the joy out of gay pride and destroy women's sport into the bargain, though I think the pendulum is already swinging back on this).

I see much Islamophobia on Matt Taibbi's substack. Supporting peace is apparently anti-semitic because Palestinians mean 'kill all Jews' when they say 'free Palestine'.

Don't confuse antisemitism with Anti-Zionism.

Very true, to be honest I have lapsed into some antisemitic comments this week in my anger which is shameful. But I know in my heart many Jewish people do resist these Zionist butchers. I will strive to do better.

Thank you, this needs to be front page news everywhere in the world! Sadly the media is doing the exact opposite and inflaming the situation

Look at this:

Anti-Hamas Message On Electronic Billboard Over Route 80 Prompts Hundreds Of Calls To Police

An anti-Hamas message on a billboard overlooking Route 80 triggered hundreds of phone calls to a local police department due to a social media suggestion.

"Oh, don't be naive," the horizontal electronic message board read. "Hamas would chop your head off too."

It was signed "jewbelong."

Bogota police fielded more than 100 complaints from callers, Bogota Police Sgt. Geoffrey Cole said late Tuesday, Oct. 17.

Some were from people who felt threatened by the message, while others expressed fears over possible violence -- not to mention general outrage from those who felt targeted, the sergeant said.

What upsets me is the Jewish community throughout the world has the power to rise up and say this is not what we condone! Instead, they remain silent and people are being arrested for supporting Palestine. Where all this winds up and how it ends is beyond terrifying.

I do however see all of the events of the past 2-3 years as somehow being related. The one thing they all seem to share in common is killing murder and death and eradicating select people. I beleive all of this is much greater than any one of us can possibly fathom. There is clearly a common denominator and a plan in place.

Many Jewish kids are brought up to believe that what the State of Israel does is right because Israel is the promised land. Just like Christians are brought up with a lot of false beliefs. This never excuses the atrocities that are perpetuated to support these faulty beliefs, but it is a start to try to understand why these things are happening. First we have to understand, then we have to correct the faulty thinking. It will take a while.

I will never forget human beings who are victims of collective punishment. Nor will I never forget the victims of state sponsored genocide.

I will never forget the oppressed Palestinians, the hundreds who just lost their lives to a lying, genocidal Israel government. Nor will I forget the 1000 Palestinian children who have been crushed to death in their beds by Israel bombs (made in the US) dropped on them in these last few ethnic cleansing days.

I will never forget.

Hmm... I think I could do better for the Israelis:

Bloke 1: Oh, dear me! It appears that we might have dropped something explosive on ourselves--a building filled with doctors.

Bloke 2: You mean a hospital? Yeah, we would actually blow up a place that had bandages. And kill all our people.

Bloke 1: Yes, that would be us, the terrorists. Not the Israelis. They never blow up hospitals with children and doctors and such...

Now all I need is two very poor Arabic speakers to record it and sell it to all the mainstream media outlets. Success for the military-industrial complex!

Right! The vaunted Israeli intelligence (a.k.a child-murdering bastards) have been hiding behind CNN for so long that they're not used to having their asses hauled out into the light. I wonder how much recycled debt they are going to spread around Congress this time to get a pass on cold-blooded murder?

Hamas simply doesn't have this type of rockets - if they did - they would point it in another direction instead of destroying their own hospital.

When an empire begins to crumble there are multiple incidents that put us into a fog where more and more of the people are told to believe lies that are less and less credible. We are at a point where anybody who has ever heard of Israel probably knows that its national calling card is murder.

The Zionist militant faction, Irgun that fought to secure statehood for the world’s dispossessed Jews, had declared war on the British administrators and police who were tasked with apportioning land to both Jews and Palestinians, following WWII. There was no plan to award statehood to the Jews.

Irgun had no qualms about killing noncombatant Jews, children, rabbis and elderly, in the same way that they had murdered unarmed, unsuspecting Brits, all in the name of casting the Arabs in a guilty light, and winning the sympathy and support of British military police and American and European elites whose votes would be crucial in the quest for statehood. Who would believe that Jews would murder Jews? It had to be the evil Arabs.

I had a conversation with a liberal and naive Israeli woman around the time that the Egyptian President, Anwar Sadat visited Israel to make a peace pact with the Israeli government that was led by the founder of Irgun and the right-wing Likud Party. She lamented the likely prospect that the enemy Arabs inside and outside of Israel would procreate at a much faster clip than the Jews, and undo the Jewish state. Both she and I were unaware that the Zionist commitment to statehood was also an ongoing mandate to permanency.

The Likud has presided over the full-on occupation of Palestinian Territories, that they (the Israelis) had agreed to respect. The Likud has kindled fear in its own population as it has violated the territorial and human rights of their neighbors.

Israel was instrumental in the formation of Hamas, because it wanted to weaken the PLO and Yassir Ararfat. And so it goes.

The Israel handlers have realised a ground invasion is really bad optics so are pretending to get them to limit the butchery and humanitarian crisis. They can kill Arabs but slowly and quietly.

I think they may have miscalculated the strength of the pro-peace response from the world. They haven't been able to whip us up into war fever aganst Gaza despite Oct 7th, it's had the opposite effect of introducing us to cruel apartheid, open air prisons containing children who've spent their whole lives there and to the few who've hijacked the memory of the holocaust for political gain.

I don't think that is it at all. Rather, assaulting a dug in enemy in an urban environment is hard.

See, e.g. Fallujah or, for that matter, Mosul, where a few ISIS snipers held off a huge attacking force for months.
