Exactly correct. We’re sh**ing in our own nest. Those at the very top apparently “think that the human race will inhabit the Moon and other Planets” This is after we have completely destroyed our own planet it is of course a dream !
In the meantime, as we destroy our planet, killing people with arms and bombs all in the name of enriching a few. Corporate Greed has consumed our so called leaders as well. One of the biggest misguided beliefs is that we need “Economic Development”. In actual cast we don’t.
Stop using the royal ‘we.’ WE are as responsible for this as the chickens in a factory farm.
The use of the royal ‘we’ (we bombed Iran, we are destroying the ecosystem, etc) is a rhetorical psyop that makes the mass of exploited humanity guilty for the crimes of our ‘masters,’ and therefore, there really is nothing to be done; if we are all guilty, then no one is.
There is an US and there is a THEM. And until we stop pretending to be a classless society, there won’t be anything we can do to stop the predators who are destroying the world.

I understand saying the Royal WE is a problem. Because in truth the majority of the public does not support the oligarchs and their actions at the top. Our Elites have failed us, they are not morally Elite. Our Elites are spineless, the contort themselves into the nooks and crannies that disrupt a fruitful society. In truth, by disrupting society and attempting to create norms out of the disrupted conditions - the public has no choice left but to rally in a grassroots decentralized form. We have to take on the local issues as they stand and bring them back to morality. We have to become our Brother's Keeper. We have to bring ethical complaints against the self-serving and illegitimate activities. No more misguided, misogynist, misunderstood - let's steer toward better for everyone. There are actions & listening we can do, complacency is not desirable. It doesn't move anything in the morass to flail your arms around and shout without doing something to clean up what's immediately around you.
So how do we mobilize against the WE, because these norms we hold are a problem. I dare to say it takes radical thought, radical action, and resilience and continuing to repeat things that the Norms find offensive. We have to consider that normalizing brings it into yourself, you feel comfort because it's self-identifying. Adopting the indoctrinated propaganda of recurrent norms needs to be unraveled, we need to question everything from where it came to exist and why does it continue to exist and what are we doing to tear it down - correction is the future. We could use discomfort as a sign of progress showing that change is happening.
Find your tribe - people who want the standardized radical thought that love conquers fear. People that want to reach out and touch and hold and talk about the many facets of why they love working together. Love is a force multiplier, hatred divides and our norms multiply that. We live in a world that was founded on the word now because it was the first word we ever learned. And why do we learn that as the first word, it was to protect us because the world is a dangerous place that's going to kill you. So we find comfort in the word no because of our norms; however we always hope for the word yes, because nestled in the word yes is love.

Caitlin, I agree with you. I once wrote another comment saying that there is a 1% that acts as superhumans, because they control over 50% of the wealth. The remaining 99% of people are considered by this class a tool to further exploit the earth and dispose of them any time their use is not needed anymore. What I cannot fathom is how this can be. Marxism has shown a possible way, but the implementation is often contradictory. It seems that this 99% of “subhumans” just live with the illusion one day they can become part of this 1%. In the west where the Anglo-Saxon culture is so deeply imbedded and has colonised our subconscious it is extremely difficult to break the chains. It begins already with the language. I speak quite a few even though I am not a scholar, but I am not aware of any other language that pursues individuality and dominance over others, like English. In English the word “I” is always written in capital letters. So it is in a natural contraposition to “you”. “I” vs “you”. In English there is no courtesy form, respect form, like in other languages such as most “Latin” languages, German or Chinese. You address a stranger always with “you” from your higher position of “I”. So if you are exposed to this framing since you are a baby, how can you wrestle yourself out of it? How can you develop a framing where the common good has the priority? My hope is that other cultures in the east and south, by evading the cultural colonisation of the West (Capitalism), can develop sustainable alternatives. I would like to hear about them if they exist and how we can unite the majority of humans and break free from the chains of Capital and exploitation.
Interesting ideas. I have always thought the opposite, in that each and every one of us speaks from that singular perspective, which makes us all unequivocally equal.
"We’re not living with purpose. We’re not working together to build a better world and a better future..."
So, that's what we gotta do. We gotta work together and build that better world and better future. It would give us all purpose and create the happiness we all yearn for. And any billionaire/capitalist who gets in our way? We gotta work together to make them pay their fair share so all can benefit from their labors and not just the moneyed few. Power to the people!
Makes me wonder about Musk. I wish I could corner him and ask this one simple question: “Elon you said that you think humanity should have more kids because the population is losing steam.” Yet out of the same breath you claim AI and/or robotic workers will replace the species in the workforce.
Oh haven't you heard his latest cure/lie for that? According to him and that other sociopath over at open ai, we're all going to have a beautiful life with all our needs met with a "basic universal income". I can't imagine what they'd claim is an income we can live on. The lies never cease.
It's a bold faced lie. None of them have any interest in letting us underlings have even our most basic needs met. If they refuse to pay a living wage, they certainly won't pay an income we can survive on. Keep in mind they've said it will be very "basic" and those that want more can go to work. They're all sociopaths hoping we're buying the shit they're selling. No one is, but no one is willing to stop them either. The Democrats make me want to scream! We have no one anywhere that is willing to fight for the masses.
Am with you 💯. Hell we are a problem in the here and now. Just imagine if they can replace us. These people who think they will just let us sit around and create art need smacked upside the head lol
However, if it were to come about, it probably would need to be enough for the wheels of commerce to continue. But where is this UBI to come from? The government no doubt. The circular financing could not be more clear. At some point we, the people, should realize how pointless this charade really is.
I just read Starlink is increasing its cost for rural users by $500/yr making it $150/month with no competition in sight.
Three days ago I was on I35 going north out of Dallas and there was a huge, all white semi with no logos OR a driver. This is a very busy, dangerous highway and there was the driverless semi. The future the Elons, Marks, Alexes, Sams, and Peters have mapped out for us is a basic income to buy trash food, cheap housing and awful medical care. And the government that makes it all possible works for them — not us.
In China they also have driverless truck technology - but they have built separate lanes for these trucks. In the US, given regulatory capture - and how cheap the life of ordinary Americans has now become - they'll just let the driverless trucks run along with the rest of us. If a few die, that's just their bad luck (apparently).
Until you wake up in damp clothes and with a sore back. Then you might learn how the African people feel when walking 8 miles to carry fresh water home for the day. Can you balance 2 gallons on your head and keep a regal walking motion?
Lol. I'm trained to live in this manner, under a roof, and in my cozy bed. And I can't balance 1 empty container on my head, forget about walking regally while I do. 😂
Luke, Musk is an Afrikaner racist born and bred. What he means by "humanity" is white humanity. He believes in something called great replacement theory. More kids means only white kids. He is promoting oligarchs to take over global south countries and goes around Europe 'feeding' Nazis.
The Tech oligarchs' AI will replace workers whom they can just discard. I don't know much about AI , but it will never create a just society for the masses. How can it if it cannot have kindness, empathy and heart.
He still needs consumers. The fundamental contradiction of capitalism. Get rid of your workers, or pay them the minimum necessary to sustain life, while hoping that masses of affluent consumers will somehow appear out of nowhere.
Par excellence Caitlin & Tim.Thank you! While knowing for a long while all you have stated here, we are grateful that you are getting us to sit up and think seriously about the mess humanity is wallowing in. We let capitalist dogma and its degenerate neo-liberal version to develop and overtake us. There are so many insane, shocking things happening at any given moment of Trump’s second term that it is time for resistance.
According to Rob Urie "China demonstrated that every single word of neoliberal economics is cynical garbage". And now they are hoisting us with Muskism.
Maybe we could start with our children, instead of expensive toys that they soon tire of, or the latest tablet. Play games that do not cost any money. As children, in my time-I'm 86, we skipped rope, played ball games, or played peever, that you now call hopscotch. Of course our peever was a shaped piece of marble, or tins weighted with earth. Hide and seek didn't cost anything either, as we got older bicycles were the rage because we could get together and cycle the three lochs, pick berries from the roadside, and drank clean water from running streams. We made our own fun, parents hardly ever saw us during the day.
Now it's all supporting the tech companies because junior needs the latest computer or computer game, and on and on it goes. All that money keeping those billionaires in new yachts and houses.
Whose fault is it, really? Parents work such long hours, and bring more work home with them while claiming that's why they're paid the big bucks - but are they, really? They are like slaves who work to build the wealth of people that stopped needing any more years ago, but the greedy B's keep wanting more, and more, and more... and it's not a badge of honour to be so wealthy you can't spend it if you lived ten lifetimes. It is pure unadulterated greed, when it's the people,e who work for these companies do all the hard work while the "boss" has a four month lunch.
And yet, when we were young, the playing outside was safer. There was more chance you'd be living in a rural area or small village. Human population was less than HALF what it is today.
You are telling me that you are honest? If you got a threat against your children? What are you going to do? AIPAC can fund others to make your life miserable.
The only way out is to take the money out of politics.
At its root is the debt-based (usury) monetary system that the whole thing runs on, concentrating wealth and the power to decide to the few... and they stupid evil. They enforce the rule that profits must be maximized with extreme violence.
"There are two ways to conquer and enslave a nation. One is by the sword. The other is by debt."
-John Adams (1826)

"The powers of financial capitalism had another far-reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalistic fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent meetings and conferences. The apex of the systems was to be the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland, a private bank owned and controlled by the worlds central banks which were themselves private corporations. Each central bank...sought to dominate its government by its ability to control Treasury loans, to manipulate foreign exchanges, to influence the level of economic activity in the country, and to influence co-operative politicians by subsequent economic rewards in the business world."
-Carroll Quigley, Tragedy and Hope: A History of the World in Our Time, 1966
We don't need to buy into this. Sure, we have to work for a living, but we can put relationships first, connect with others in meaningful ways, do things that make the world a better place, and not get sucked into this monetizing cookie cutter. It's so degrading, and we need to take every opportunity to be authentically human.
Well, yes, but in some tiny corner of the "global south" i exist alíen to that corporate machine in all my strengh. Now retired & reading my books. Now i'm reading the Ashtavakra gita, which is one of the ancient scriptures of Advaita vedanta, after having lunch which my wife prepared with a glass of red wine produced here. No claims at all. I'm very happy.
The perverse reality is, however, that should someone from the global north (ie me) with very limited means, wish to go and live a simple life in the global south away from the rat race, I can't. Even the poorest nations require I have savings or income to gain permission to stay. You must have accrued a certain level of wealth to have been 'allowed in' in the first place. It feels like there is no escape for me...

Ancestors’ White Owl Wind Song
White Owl Wind
**
Uprisen, set to soar o’er rugged uplands,
Howling end-to-end rugged uplands.
Twilit wing-whipt blue shadows broke,
Rolled in whirling billows to & fro...
I.
In illo tempore,
when wooly mammoths,
tarpan and humpback giants
grazed tundra and vast plateaux;
when saber-tooth, dire wolf
and swift bulldog bear ranged
pristine birch/beech forests
and wild river gorges,
stalking tapir, ibex,
elk and deer.
When viburnum
fruited ruby-red, sumac
berries ripened maroon
and ginkgo leaf fans blazed
saffron, adorning summer’s end
unease and falter in autumn
lustre, nomadic bands sojourned
in sheltering glen and gathered
in tribe to become ONE MIND
attuned to deep resonance
of kinship and natural
affinities.
Gathered
to feast on fresh kill
and wild edibles, to gift
and be gifted; to eclipse
ego boundaries and orgy plied
with magic fungi, to dance
round raven trophies hung
upon poles, hearts inflamed
with mana power; risen voices
sounding keynote of reunion
with one’s divinity one’s
original blessings, kosmic
lot and scope in
all-embracing
NOW
Ah! tenor
of days spent bivouacked
near on founts of endless rivers
of no return, coursing swollen
to torrent in chain of cascades
over treacherous crags
and chasms.
Brisk days immediate,
and cryptic nights strung taut;
moon spun, in flash inklings
unraveled; undone as wolf howl,
tiger roar and nightjar bubbly trills
resounded in ferine concert
with insistent thunder roll
of slit drums across
upland asylums.
As bonfires
flared spraying fiery
embers upon celebrants
circling side to side, striking
breasts, chanting, singing, feather
headdresses tossing to and fro;
furious dust devils fleeing
underfoot; ghostly blue
mountains
pulsating, pulsating....
When rough
sunset gusts howled
and veered lashing forest
canopy, underbrush and rawhide
lean-tos Uprose!
White Owl Wind!
wind poet, potentate
of desires. Uprose! conveying
revellers to outmost wilds
of an ever unfurling awareness.
Uprose! summoning
reverence.
**
White Owl Wind beset us round;
White Owl Wind beset us round.
Beset and jostled to totter and sway.
Beset with thunderous sunset play...
II.
Many
moons, many generations
foregone, no longer lusty,
hard-bitten trailblazers; mazed;
gone astray. Nemesis NOW
dead-enders headlong on
blind rush across defiled
angry lands sown with toxins,
subterfuge, bloodguilt, gall,
corrosive spite—panic
rampant below, seething
in gnarled, snarly
rootage.
Priceless
original blessings
undercut; offered up
piecemeal to highest bidders.
ONE MIND blunted by
cold chop logic, its vital fabric
torn, full splendor dulled.
Natural course supplanted,
circular causality and account
forsworn; earth-wise
truths cast aside.
Owned NOW
instead by what one
owns—what one is told
one owns. No longer one
on one on equal terms. Peons
NOW mere hirelings strapt
by unforgivable debts to
hereditary looters and
polluters, who never
relent.
Trapt NOW
in a played out stop-loss
burlesque; ever at ready to toe
lines to secure overlords’ sordid
seals of approval—most
willing even to pay
ultimate prices.
So much LOST.
Little by little little bitter
bits LOST!
No longer
revellers on sunset spree,
holding each other close; singing
sacred sunset songs in unison
with sundry spirits;
exalting
White Owl Wind!
So enfeebled
NOW afflicted with anemic
resolve to aspire, to strive centered
in churning core of livingness.
OBLIVIOUS! spun out forsaken
spawn of victim dramas
and manifest follies.
No longer choristers
in ceremonies of innocence
—impious chants burnt
offerings of bloodless,
spent passions.
OBLIVIOUS!
So ruinously
bereft of bodily sense,
presence and destiny. Cocooned
in reified totality; every-thing
other, alien—NOT ME!
Ecstatic merger with
unspoilt nature no
longer realistic.
**
O how unfortunate; O how
Unfortunate! Not to know
Songs to sing; sacred sunset songs
To sing with sunset celebrants
And jaunty shadows all aglow; joyfully
Chanting, dancing to and fro...
III.
Woebegone
refugees on laborious
slog, advancing in leg irons;
seeking never finding ends
to justify means. Who only come
to halt to skulk and loiter
awestruck among opulent shrines,
eons risen by minions to hem
death in and sanctify noble lies
of aloof altruists; who deem themselves
saviors; do-gooders who torment
in “good” conscience.
Whose perfidy
preserves in colossal
facade mastery of the
predator class.
**
O sunsets now ever silent and still;
Shrouded in awful nostalgia.
Trespassers, barren of inborn alliances,
Our heartsick pleas go unheeded
Across abysmal breach. On twilit tarn
We gaze upon, no reflections mirror;
Our souls engulfed in turbid undertow.
IV.
You
blasphemers
of the gift eternal
who sought deliverance
from mortal agonies among
tombs, and settled for ignominy.
Suffer no more jeers
of surrogate man-gods
and grief of false
hopes.
Purge as one
of so gross a stigma
and injury. Dare! to begin
anew—beginning anew
puts an end to
tyranny.
**
Night fringes horizon; autumn leaves
Rustle, silvern ripples scurry across
Tarn’s murky waters in ever widening
Circles. Kosmic whisperings ensue.
Borne on spur of impulse, we don our
Headdresses and raise our rattles.
Sh-h-h!
Listen...On blusterous
upland drafts, an avian
elemental draws-up
plumage ruffling; soaring
on translucent
wings....

Makes me wonder about Musk. I wish I could corner him and ask this one simple question: “Elon you said that you think humanity should have more kids because the population is losing steam.” Yet out of the same breath you claim AI and/or robotic workers will replace the species in the workforce.
“How does one reconcile those two ideas?”
Oh haven't you heard his latest cure/lie for that? According to him and that other sociopath over at open ai, we're all going to have a beautiful life with all our needs met with a "basic universal income". I can't imagine what they'd claim is an income we can live on. The lies never cease.
I certainly don’t trust it. Like they are going to let us all sit around and chill. They have ZERO intention in letting that happen.
Nope, we'll be living in tents in the woods. Housing is not something they have any plans of providing.
I envision that their plans for us are living in pods in skyscrapers
that go on and on as far as the eye can see. Vertical prisons, ie China
(I couldn't do it, but tents sound rather romantic.)
Uh oh. you haven't seen actual tent cities? Ignorance really is bliss!
Smiles…. I shall see you there. Fuck pod life ☺️
🙂
Until you wake up in damp clothes and with a sore back. Then you might learn how the African people feel when walking 8 miles to carry fresh water home for the day. Can you balance 2 gallons on your head and keep a regal walking motion?
Lol. I'm trained to live in this manner, under a roof, and in my cozy bed. And I can't balance 1 empty container on my head, forget about walking regally while I do. 😂
Woods are privatized by then totally. No entrance for the deplorable or you pay a daily fee.
I've been reading/seeing about how they're clamping down on that more and more. It's OUR lands.
And also how that many cities, towns, and sttates are making it illegal to park (overnight) in various places.
They continue to chain us with their crap till we're imprisoned for life. 😡
Good point, Starlink could be lowering the cost playing the long game. Once the competition is gone….BOOM!
I know about this biz. It’s very expensive for a company to run infrastructure.
Of course. The long game.
Then we're trapped like animals.
They're all beyond disgusting. 🤮
>>Then we're trapped like animals.<< Then? You are already or you'd do something about it one would presume.
Maybe he was referring to himself having the kids. 🤨
He has certainly waked the walk in that regard. That being said I don’t think he was referring to his own kids at all
I was half joking.
Elon has no idea. He only thinks he does because he can add one plus one and get two.
🎯😂😂
Yes but Karl Marx is outdated or so I've heard from dumbed down people who would know. ;-)
We are literally living in the Matrix.
Well said and quite true
Happy days are here again. I am now a candidate for the US Senate.
No foreign donations please!
Hi! I'm from AIPAC - how much do you need?
This!
And yet, when we were young, the playing outside was safer. There was more chance you'd be living in a rural area or small village. Human population was less than HALF what it is today.
Yet nobody is talking about overpopulation.
And the world population was about 1/3 what it is now. We need a simpler life. https://kathleenmccroskey.substack.com/p/limits-to-progress
Where are you running?
New Hampshire.
I guess I can take AIPAC's money, but they're unlikely to give it to me, as there's little chance of them getting a quo for the quid pro.
You are telling me that you are honest? If you got a threat against your children? What are you going to do? AIPAC can fund others to make your life miserable.
The only way out is to take the money out of politics.
Money does seem to be our species' undoing.
We are being factory farmed.
"In the Grail legends, the land of people doing what they ought to do or have to do is the wasteland." ~Joseph Campbell

-Carroll Quigley, Tragedy and Hope: A History of the World in Our Time, 1966
"The private control of credit is the modern form of slavery."
- Upton Sinclair
You two are blessed!
Yes, i guess.. I'65, Mónica is 55 ex- teacher, now we are both retired and healthy. Those problems happen in the 'developed world', not here. 💜
Good to hear! 🎉🎉
Here in Amerikka, we have become passive, beaten down. Made physically ill by our prison guards who we waste our lives working for.
It feels like there is no escape for me...
you see to have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo, though?
