Trump was more forthcoming about some of his thinking than the other liars. He talked about grabbing women by the pussy and openly said lots of ignorant things like that about women he didn't like. He also was openly racist. The other presidents pretended they weren't any of those things. Maybe they weren't maybe they were. Who knows. The Empire has been governed by greedy, lying, racist, misogynists for a lot time. Even Obama, although his skin gave people the impression that they had done something revolutionary, he was just another greedy power monger.
Thanks for your continual truth telling commentaries on the U.S. national election. I and a friend collected 240 signatures to get Stein and Ware on the Virginia ballot, which was a success. In Nevada this pass week the state Supreme Court denied Green Party ballot access on a technicality -- the state had given them the wrong petitions, even tho they succeeded in getting three times the number of signatures needed to quality. The duopoly wants no competition. The whole process is corrupt, also corrupted by the huge sums of money donated by AIPAC and corporate PACs. It's disgusting.
In most states in the u.s. you have to submit a form telling the state you are a write-in candidate. Write-in votes feel good however they are not counted. Nevada was an opportunity to change the election. The last time a third party candidate in the u.s. won was Lincoln in the newly formed Republicant party.
"The first step to escaping from a burning building is to stop pushing on the fake fire exit that’s been painted on the wall. These fake elections are there to keep you trapped in the burning building. The real exit lies elsewhere". Beautifully said by Caitlin.
Caitlin, I have said this before, but here goes: Your analogy of escaping from a burning building is exactly what Bertolt Brecht ( in another time and place), said in his poem " Buddha's Parable of the Burning House ". Brecht's rationale was the same. Great minds....
"Can’t wait til things calm down in the middle east so I can stop getting accused of being an antisemite and go back to the old wholesome accusations of being a Russian agent."
10 points!
Actually, I like to point out to people that Palestinians are a Semetic people, so there's no way supporting Palestinians can be anti - semetic.
Of course, nobody should be killed for no reason as is happening in Gaza.
But I'm hearing estimates that more than 50% of the regular population actually makes their living supporting Hamas or in some way takes actions often that supports the terror group.
If that's true, it casts things in a different light.
And in that new light does the mass murder of thousands of innocent women and children, the bombing of schools, universities, the bombing of hospitals and murder of doctors and nurses look acceptable to you?
Does Genocide look acceptable to you?
The people of Palestine voted for Hamas as a civilian govt. and as such Hamas worked to provide people with housing, health care access to food and wages to buy it, but the Israeli govt and military have worked to prevent that since 1948 so a militant resistance group arose to fight back.
Ignorants are often unaware that Hamas is a POLITICAL entity that happens to have an armed wing ( much like IRA/Sinn Fein) and the the vast majority of the world’s nations do NOT consider Hamas to be a “terror group”.
If there was ever an election in which voting for a third-party candidate was the best possible choice, this is it. Only if you are chain smoking fatal doses of hopium can you believe that either Harris or Trump will actually do anything like the right or wise thing on either of the burning life and death issues facing the country over which presidents exercise direct and decisive power - Ukraine and Israel. They may have differences over abortion, immigration, trans rights, supreme court nominations and the like, but they don't have decisive power over these matters as they do in matters of war and peace. Those other issues, important as they may be, will be decided through a political process in which the president's preferences are thwarted more often than not.
All this is to say that the two-party duopoly under which we live has conspired to deny voters any meaningful say on the starkest moral and most dangerous political choices facing our nation. For that reason, the only sane and moral thing to do to express our frustration, disgust and contempt is to opt out and vote for a candidate who we believe is right on the most important and decisive issues, even if that candidate has no chance of winning under this corrupted electoral system.
A vote like this means we know our vote has already been "thrown away," not by us but by the two parties that have conspired to steal our electoral system for their own corrupt purposes. By voting against the duopoly, we declare that we care enough about our country to take our democratic act of voting seriously even if our degraded election system no longer does. If this somehow wasn't clear before 2024, it should be now.
Absolutely! And we also send a message of just how many we are. Something the MSN has done everything to suppress. We surely don’t need to assist them.
The mistake people make is in thinking that one person, a president or whatever, decides what actions the U.S. takes . The figurehead gives us all someone to blame and rage against and have their face on a screen to like or not. Multi trillion dollar operations are run a bit tighter than that.
EXACTLY! Most of the structural and system changes go unnoticed while the Red and Blue teams fight it out amongst each other, continuously being distracted while the power elite change laws (and interpretation of laws) surreptitious, eroding any freedoms, rights, or anything else - thus making the Constitution seemingly irrelevant (with their odously subjective interpretations of it that they enforce through the judicial system and the various "enforcement" organizations).
"Any political worldview that’s worth a damn necessarily includes a deep and visceral hatred of Dick Cheney, and an abhorrence toward any ideology which sympathizes with him."
Succinctly said! If you support the warmonger-of-the-century Dick Cheney, then you're not a supporter of "democracy." You're a supporter of authoritarianism and endless bloodshed, but you're not a supporter of anything good, just or fair to humanity. Harris likes Cheney's endorsement because she's looking forward to maintaining the genocide her boss Butcher Biden started by arming the IDF. Bloodthirsty types attract like.
Yes you did, sadly I will have to wait to piss on his grave. I have a tour I make pissing on the monsters graves. Reagan was fun, looking forward to Clinton : )
"Mark my words: the same people telling you Harris is the better vote to save Gaza will make all kinds of excuses for her when she becomes president and you point out that she isn’t saving Gaza. Happened with Trump, happened with Obama. Same schtick over and over again."
100% facts, sadly.
"A new poll says 70 percent of Jewish Israelis think it should be forbidden to express any sympathy for civilians in Gaza on social media platforms. "
They are complete monsters; may karma bite them tenfold. And we are supposed to believe that Israel is the promised land and its people? I don't think so.
Maybe Dante wrote "lasciate ogni speranza" -- abandon all hope -- not only because of the finality of l'inferno, hell, but also the finality that justice denied in life would only be available upon life's extinction.
A third party gaining a significant number of votes is an observable indication of the numbers of people dissatisfied in specific ways with the two-party system. Too valuable an opportunity to let people get away with spurious claims of “it won’t matter.”
Caitlin Johnstone's main point that the coming US elections DOES NOT MATTER should not be distracted from. I agree completely with her that whether on Gaza, on Iran, on China, on continued destabilization around the World, Harris or Trump will only differ in style but not substance.
But there is one pertinent difference. Kamala Harris' (it's really not her, but the Democractic Party establishment) enthusiastic embrace of Dick Cheney's endorsement does show one thing very clearly, the Democrats are scared sh*tless of a Trump win. The way I interpret it is; different people have different priorities. The Democrats are more aligned with the Globalist agenda. A Trump Administration may required some 'steering'. So the Democrats will everything (I mean everything) to win in Nov. Trump is like the back-up plan. You win some, you lose some. Border walls will go up, migrants will be deported, maybe some North-South Korea arrangement will come about in Ukraine. White supremacy will get a boost. Visible differences, enough to sate the MAGA crowd that Trump is different. But Wall Street, the MIC, Big Pharma, Big Oil, the Tech Oligarchs, will not be derailed in their plans and profits. Also crucially, the Neo-Cons will get their wars. Trump is no bulwark against continuing US hegemony. The exploitation and suffering around the world will not decrease with Trump. As such, the US elections is of consequence more for the Democrats than for the Rest-of-the-World. The dismantling of the US Empire remains the goal for the betterment of humanity.
Putin would be a fool to allow a North/South Korean type settlement in Ukraine. He has already won this war and his patience will probably be the downfall of NATO. Don't underestimate his intelligence. If we had politicians over here with his level of intelligence we would have achieved world peace years ago.
Putin has a somewhat difficult choice. The full conquest of the vast territory of Western Ukraine will be a long drawn-out thing. And even after it is accomplished, the security of conquered lands remain problematic, and a large military presence. Arguably, apart from Blackrock & JP Morgan, NATO may not be too disappointed with a long-term low-grade terrorist campaign undertaken by Azov-types from around Lvov. Stopping at the Dneiper, and installing a neutral and de-militarized regime in Kiev may be a preferable, if equally difficult, outcome. What I wrote above is just speculation of what Trump might propose if he wins. Not necessary that it'll be the resolution to the Ukraine problem. My point being, Trump may end the war, something markedly different than if Harris wins.
You are assuming that the people in Donbas are opposed to Putin when in fact he is there to stop NATO's advance and to aid the Donbas in their fight for independence. It will be interesting to see when Russia Drives Ukraine out of the areas if he allows them their independence. Personally, I think he will as it would be a win win for Russia and the Donbas.
I am aware of that but still the Russian Military is in there and while you and I assume they will leave they are a super power albeit a far more civilized appearing power than what we deal with.
Your comments on Cheney are so relevant. I believe he has a daughter who is carrying on his good work. His contribution to the crimes in Iraq seem to be long forgotten, but not by the people of Iraq.
The less said about Trump and his type, the better. Just being aware of his history, his stated fantasy plans for "Making America Great again” would warrant a full scale Walt Disney production, naturally in the form of a comedy….if it wasn’t so serious. A disgraceful human being.
But Ms Harris I fear, will be a well controlled giggling figurehead, attired in the latest fashions, no better in any way to the murdering character she could replace in January 2025, the current demented US leader. He is a man who deserves to be strung up as a example to the world of what we do not want to ever see again, in any country, with his affection for the Israeli Netanyahu (that should be subservience to) the criminal whose "back" he protects, being the single reason for all the genocidal crimes in Gaza, Rafah and now, the West Bank.
There's your greatest criminal, ever. BIDEN. One word from this man and it could have all been over, Netanyahu sent back into his cage and the world on the way to peaceful coexistence and with those pathetic example of humans, the Western World leaders, forced by the UN (sorry, a useless bunch), instead someone in authority (name / role as yet unknown) deciding that all the criminal nations will be forced to accept the responsibility of rebuilding Palestine as it was, every person in the world required to make a contribution, with serious contributions from all the media owners.
My motivation is to see both Biden and Netanyahu along with all their henchmen and sycophants in a public place in Palestine, shackled on full display as if to be “stoned", which in different circumstances should have appealed to Netanyahu as, according to the Torah, this was a common Jewish practice in a public place. But this time actioned by the family of any Palestinian that has been killed by their hateful actions. A hell of a list, realistically the families of up to 200,000 people. This was used in ancient times for adultery, prostitution, murder and blasphemy, perhaps justified in those days but all being crimes which pale when compared to the crimes of Biden and Netanyahu. Genocide.
No worse crime has occurred, in my reckoning, than this anti- Palestine butchery, women and little kids, planned starvation and generated disease still occurring today. The crime of the Century, without question. AND the Western World looked on.
This does not include the highly respected, gutsy students from around the world. One and all. Their hearts on their sleeves.
I share the outrage, but I also know we, as a species, have to get past retribution, if we want to survive.
However, I’m not adverse to charging Biden, and his entire foreign policy administration under 18 U.S. Code § 1091, the US law that incorporates the Genocide Convention. Let's find a way to charge them. May they have visions of prison all the days of their lives.
It is a pity that Pope Francis, while enjoying all his S E Asian visits as a welcome guest ,couldn't detour slightly to visit Palestine to make a valid point as well. While thousands in East Timorese have welcomed his visit, influencing one of his parishioners in Delaware, a mass murderer named Biden, a Roman Catholic but a failed Christian by any measure, to stop the slaughter would have had some serious instant benefit as well.
Thousands of Palestinians may have also benefitted by remaining alive, as a result.
May happen one day. Hope it is not too late before Netanyahu and his murderers bomb the last buildings and kill the last Palestinians in the West Bank, Gaza and Rafah.

Great piece of writing. You said it all, elegantly and without a wasted word.
May I add only, vote Jill Stein!
Suggested slogan: Don't fall in line. VOTE JILL STEIN.
May I add (to your final sentence) only, . . . or any other third party candidate who is against the genocide.
Thanks for your continual truth telling commentaries on the U.S. national election. I and a friend collected 240 signatures to get Stein and Ware on the Virginia ballot, which was a success. Actually - the whole question of ballot access in the USA is a huge issue.
Getting ballot access in the UK is very simple. So why is it so hard in the USA???
Could it be that they don't trust the voters???
Could it be that they fear democracy???
I'm gonna give you a little honesty you might not find in a forum of America haters here in America.
Ballot access IS too hard.
Younger, local politicians willing to change things usually lose heart after a few terms in office here, too.
But Trump isn't a dictator, and Kamala isn't a saviour and neither would be Jill Stein.
At least, I trust, a write-in, campaign is under way.
In most states in the u.s. you have to submit a form telling the state you are a write-in candidate. Write-in votes feel good however they are not counted. Nevada was an opportunity to change the election. The last time a third party candidate in the u.s. won was Lincoln in the newly formed Republicant party.
I have a feeling many states will end up counting up all the "uncommited" write-ins

Agree 💯

As I recall,Dick Cheney, like Snoop Dog passed on to their just reward several years ago.
Did I wake up in some parallel universe?
Yes you did, sadly I will have to wait to piss on his grave. I have a tour I make pissing on the monsters graves. Reagan was fun, looking forward to Clinton : )
😂👍
As a woman, I wish I were capable of such exploits!!
Thanks for that.
Wishful thinking can pull the most outrageous tricks on you.
That's too bad,I'm glad you set the record straight 👌
You got Mandelaed.
Too much time in lockdown....
Thanks Wizard.
Accepting an endorsement from Dick Cheney is a five square acre red flag. You have lost your minds Dems.

USA elections = false choice.
Therefore the candidates on offer will be chosen to ensure that it’s always a false choice. The system is rigged.
Don’t keep putting your quarters in the machine. Pull the plug if you want a different result.
A third party gaining a significant number of votes is an observable indication of the numbers of people dissatisfied in specific ways with the two-party system. Too valuable an opportunity to let people get away with spurious claims of “it won’t matter.”
That is so true. I have spoken with very bright friends that still don't understand how to use power. A single photon has little energy : )
Kamala might as well just have accepted an endorsement from Hitler's grave.

My apologies. I misconstrued part of what you were saying.
