Yes, wars in those olden days were frequent as empires rose and empires fell. It was the way of the world. But nowhere did we see 750 military bases scattered over all the world.
The closest has been the British Empire who exploited half the world for their own benefit, most countries forming part of their hegemonic exploits now have almost shed the influences that resulted from that period of British superiority. Some are still too weak to have shed their final connection to the so called Empire and still curtsy and bow to a couple of old British 'royalty', all white and all Western.
But hegemony, now the realm of the USA every day, is such an inhumane objective as is the ability in a country like the same USA (assisted by Zionists), to be able to buy politicians by the bucketload, own them, control their opinions using bribery and corruption as the order of the day.
This development came about with the assistance of weak geriatric President, a human disgrace, assisted by a parasitic country of 9.5 million people who now own and control a developed warlike country of 360 million, known as the host for the parasites. All through blackmail (Epstein and his buddies), corruption, ( Adelson and Musk), ongoing bribery (the daily activities in elected politicians offices, 86% at least) and hidden from view by a media, the likes of which are an absolute disgrace, deserving of legal action for lies , lies and more lies over a very long period.

Right in front of everyone for all to see using Las Vegas gambling profits to corrupt and buy political power with no action from government for their crimes.
The beginning of the end for the USA....... thanks to the US parasitical enemies from within.
The majority of Americans are divorced from any reality other than what they have to deal with daily. Most people I know don’t really care to think about the genocide in Gaza and insist it’s a religious and “clash of civilizations” sort of thing and don’t want to be bothered with it. A recent poll showed high support for bombing Iran that’s not too surprising given the decades of propaganda. Who can forget McCain singing Bomb, bomb, bomb — bomb Iran?
Not really. The IDF is a small institution. Even if it dies, its impact is limited. The LARGER and more important institution that needs to die is the U.S. Empire and the system of Capitalism. What's more likely to happen is that if/when the IDF dies, if the U.S. Empire is still on its current trajectory of global hegemony, it will simply create 'other institutions' to replace the IDF.
You mean the U.S. Empire is the most likely institution in the world to start a nuclear war. Without the backing of the U.S. Empire, Israel does not have the guts (or the resources) to do much on its own.
That's why I corrected you. Without the U.S. Empire and the Western Nations, Israel would not even be existing right now (or if it somehow were, it would be in a very different form) and there would be no Genocide of Palestinians. Israel is ONE of MANY symptoms of the U.S. Empire. The buck stops with the U.S. Empire.
Hence, I suggest going to the ROOT of the problem - the U.S. Empire and the system of Capitalism (of which colonialism, imperialism, etc. is a part).
I think a lot of self-described progressives or leftists can’t imagine a post capitalist U.S. There’s a residual indoctrinated “truth” that if only the leaders were moral there’d be no need for a revolution because it’s just a corruption problem.
I believe that the mindset that normalizes aggression is the societal contagion that will prove to be the most difficult to kill. There are a slew of unconscious Zionists in our midst.
Perhaps some Americans were pleased at the sight of Israel’s infrastructure crumbling at the Iranian response to Israeli aggression. It can be provocative, even exhilarating to see a criminal enterprise be shut down, but the American war machine isn’t going to willingly put itself on life support. As the American pie gets smaller, the domestic temperature will rise. The injustice that the regime had meted routinely beyond its borders, with scant opposition, will be ramped up on unruly citizens. I think that has to happen to strip the unconscious Zionists of their liberal naïveté.
>>"The injustice that the regime had meted routinely beyond its borders, with scant opposition, will be ramped up on unruly citizens."
💯 Yes, it's only a matter of time. Most people don't realize how the 'outside evils' of the Empire will come home to roost and become the 'inside evils' of the Empire.
The "City of London" metastazized to New York and some other places, but it may still be the publicity shy old-money at work running "global financial capitalism", might it not? BlackRock seems to be a marker to watch, but it doesn't say whose money it manages.
When bourgeois music festivals airing on national broadcasting are more democratic and representative of public opinion than the bourgeois congress/parliament then you know the western so-called "free world" institutions are in trouble.
From what I read elsewhere Israel in its short war with Iran had significant damage at multiple essential sites from Iranian ballistic missiles to the point that Israel was days away from further destruction and losing the war. The U.S. backed off of deeper involvement and Trump interceded for a cease fire. The iron dome was inadequate to stop the missiles. Israel has asked journalists to leave country to avoid factual reporting of this event.
Israel has almost no support from other nations other than U.S. The genocide and especially the shooting of starving unarmed people standing in line for food has turned almost everyone against them .
My use of the word support needs clarification as you so note. You are correct that US and Western Europe strongly supported Israel’s right to defend itself and have supplied weapons to Israel after/since the Oct Hamas attack. However, public opinion in these countries is shifting, particularly among younger generations, with more calling for ceasefires and accountability.
The election in the Democratic primary for mayor of NYC by a Muslin candidate against severe prejudicial attacks is an indication the tide is turning even in the U.S. It is difficult to gauge this shift but it is palpable.
Both sea ports, both refineries, electrical grid, water systems, all the military u.s. contractor buildings and labs. People managed to report with photos as well as satellite imaging. israel cried on it's knees for ceasefire. Sadly we know the story of israel and the Daddy Genocide Don, the war is not over. I wanted to know why Iran stopped the war and looked to the Koran with help from some friends. Iran is not BSing when it said they will not attack someone who is stopped attacking them. It is not the chess game I thought. Iran will never end them. The end will come from China as we attack them now. Yep we never learn at Hypersonic speeds : (
Extremely deep thought from Indu though I suggest Caitlin shouldn't feel surrounded by all that rallying.
Indu - organize so the crowd is kept semi-circled behind her. Anticipate where she's going. Maneuver. Talk amongst yourselves. Discuss. Stay out of the way. Strictly follow. Stay safe and don't get trampled underfoot.
Another masterpiece Caitlin, thank you. I especially appreciate the helpful guides/ideas you list to help people WAKE UP and see the TRUTH about the U.S. Empire and its hegemony.
These WESTERN narratives MUST be dismantled, and every one doing their little part helps.
One thing I would like to add to your article is -> People MUST similarly WAKE UP to the cannibalistic and annihilistic system that is CAPITALISM. People MUST de-indoctrinate themselves from the narratives and gaslighting of Capitalism. Unless this happens, the problems we humans (and the planet and its species) face will NOT go away but simply morph into other kinds of problems that we will continue to face in the future. Kicking the can down the road only works for so long. Once the end of the road is reached, it might be too late...
The same things happen under other forms of totalitarianism, as Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot and Adolph were able to demonstrate. Managing very large groups of humans comes down to severe, brutal harshness in the hands of our "owners" from time to time, that 80 year generational cycle thing, or "Kondratiev Cycle", which Comrade Stalin had explained, did not like, and for which Comrade Condratiev went to a gulag, then death.
John Day, your solution is not only counter-productive, but is actually HARMFUL. Think big picture (not only just about yourself).
Everyone growing their own vegetables (i.e. 8 billion people growing their own vegetables and 8 billion people riding bicycles is NOT a good utilization or management of resources).
(1) Use mass-public transportation (buses, trains, etc.) to get MORE people to MORE places MORE safely and quicker than 'each individual person riding their own bicycle. This acutally consumes less resources than other methods.
(2) Follow processes of collective, cooperative, and resource-based farming to increase output while simultaneously decreasing input into the process of feeding 8+ billion people. Focus on utilization of water, land, and efficient uses of resources used in the production of food (eg. vertical farming, etc).
Focus on efficient use of resources (and that includes energy and land resources as well as others) at a global level (unless you are thinking just about yourself).
Good on you Chang! But even your community based initiatives won't get us anywhere if there isn't a worldwide revolution with the masses rising up against the empire and its minions.
There are many more, but these should be enough to get you going on your journey of exploration of solutions and alternatives to Capitalism.
I would also recommend checking out Peter Joseph and his 'Revolution Now' podcast on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@RevolutionNowPodcast/videos). Peter Joseph (of Zeitgeist fame) is who I should credit with helping me begin my journey of being an anti-capitalist and making me realize and understand things that I might not have otherwise.
I'm not sure how that helps the Palestinians...If you're promoting the CO2 global warming hoax, you should be aware that the DeCaprios of the world are flying private jets to the latest conference which consume more energy than the average family does in years...They obviously don't belief their own propaganda....
I have noticed some people are conflating hoax. I know from the science the climate is changing via our garbage way of life forced on us. The hoax part might be coming from these odd Green funded grifts, like turning coal plants into Green power plants burning trees, yep many millions into burning trees. Giant solar farms in deserts coated with dust and sand. We may have past the tipping point on painless change, the oceans are and will continue to warm long after we stop buying new phones every day, mass transport etc. A friends Father was the Chairman of the Kyoto Protocols. I think there is even a play now about that part of his life. I wrote a story about climate/resource change, Dirty Dozen to Mars ha. The Androids win, they don't need us or our destruction ha. People hate the story, humans do not win and that's a whole other weird failure coming our way uncontrolled.
Celebrities might fly private jets to virtue signal but that doesn't mean that global warming is a hoax. It is phenomenon that is measured by scientists around the world in multiple ways.
You have taken a bold stance to say that people should be part of a massive life-support machine ONLY and not ride personal bicycles, and not grow kitchen gardens.
Perhaps in a world without wars, depressions, grid and internet failures, your case would be more persuasive, but we are entering times of war, hardship and interruption of supply lines and services, not just in Gaza and Ukraine.
These episodes are cyclic, every 80 years or so.
Count back 80 years a coupleof times to try it out.
I am thinking about myself, my family, my friends, my meditation group, patients, coworkers and society.
Home grown vegetables from gardens in "dachas" provided over half of the fresh vegetables that Russians ate in the 1990s. It was similarly supportive to workers in England during the industrial revolution, and Americans in both world wars ("victory gardens").
(1) Few people growing their own gardens and Few people riding bicycles is OK, but it will NOT change anything.
(2) 8+ billion people all trying ro grow their OWN vegetables and all 8+ billion people trying to rely on bicycles ONLY is a recipe for DISASTER on a GRAND scale!
Again, I doubt you bothered to reference my link to 'Resource-Based Economies' and instead chosen to 'double-down' on your pre-existing beliefs.
I have given this long and thoughtful consideration for decades, and in my life by trying the things I advise.
Look at those 3 posts. See my gardens.
I am an American bicyclist. That is odd, isn't it?
Can you ride a bike 100 km if the trains are not running, if you really need to?
It's not an extreme consideration at all. You could do it day after day with a bit of training.
There will be disaster on a grand scale when everything is on a grand scale, as you advise.
People need to have their own margins of safety in dangerous times, as we now enter.
I still eat food from grocery stores, but it is summer and my fairly large vegetable gardens are making a lot of fresh produce for me to eat, preserve and give as gifts.
I have 49 canned jars of hot sauce from my garden prepared for Christmas gifts alreay, as I usually do, and better than anybody can buy.
Technology is something we all count on to live, as you point out, but we all need to hedge those bets.
Lots of people died in the world wars, as you will recall.
Having a bike, good health and a vegetable garden only improves your odds.
You're still not attempting to understand what I'm saying. Let me try this differently ->
John Day, you are doing a commendable job on growing your own food, and playing your part in reducing emissions, etc. (in terms of climate change) by riding your bicycle. It is FANTASTIC that you are doing these things. You don't need to stop doing ANY of what you currently do.
But what YOU do CANNOT be scaled for a population of 8+ billion people on the planet. Systems are needed to produce and distribute food to places where people CANNOT grow their own food (for land reasons, water scarcity reasons, climate reasons, etc.). Many distances are TOO GREAT to travel by bicycle. Not everyone has the LUXURY of time to be able to spend that much of it on bicycling to every place they go.
So while what you do works when the scale is very small/minimal, it does NOT WORK for the scale needed for the survival of 8+ billion people on the planet.
Your solution will not cure world hunger. Your solution will not cure (or address) the energy utilization and exploitation issues our planet has and the system of Capitalism produces.
Let me repeat. You can continue doing what you are doing. But to solve the problems facing the world, we need solutions that SCALE, are EFFICIENT in usage of resources, and are designed to work for MOST (if not all) people in all kinds of lands and climates.
My friend, Chang, I believe I grasped your meaning promptly the first time, and it is part of the current "noble lie" that guides industrial society, here just past the peak of industrial economy (just before or after the COVID-lockdown dip).
Peak conventional-oil was in 2005. Peak oil + condensates/liquids was November 2018. The "Repo Crisis" came in August/September 2019, when the biggest banks and financial institutions in the world could not really trust each other for overnight loans across time zones, because they all knew...
The "Going Direct Bailout" was decided about the same time as Event 201 in New York, followed promptly by the Wuhan games that October, which was the official narrative start of the Event 201 global tabletop exercise of how to manage a global coronavirus pandemic. Not how to treat it, but how to manage the information narrativers and people's thoughts and movements.
You may well live in a large, dense city, as I have many times. I currently live at the edge of Austin, Texas, which has done that boom-town thing a couple of times since I moved here for college in 1076, after graduating high school in Yokohama, Japan. I lived on my grandfather's cattle ranch in rural Texas for 8th & 9th grade, where he taught me many practical things. It was military bases before that, moving, moving, moving, and I have practiced medicine in dense cities, the Navajo Reservation, rural Texas, rural Hawaii, and always as a service to humans, individual humans and smallish groups.
I get the big and intimate pictures. We are not free. We are "owned" as George Carlin (in)famously expounded. We have owners. "It's a great big, exclusive club and we're not in it."
You write some about "Capitalism". I peeked. It is a crony capitalism, "global financial capitalism". It involves "Absentee Ownership", about which Thorstein Veblen wrote his last book in the 1920s, before 1929.
How can there be "absentee ownership"? Why? How does that work? It "works" by letting our apex predator class both support and cull large human grazing herds, which we are. That is the ecological function of our owners, to manage and cull large herds of grazing humans, so as to manage productive resources, which are now more than farmland and grain silos.
Wars for "lebensraum", pitting masses of hungry people against masses of other hungry people, or having hungry people starve to death or die from plagues in dense cities, are how they managed us before. They are using injectables and food additives and mass media now, but they really want to cull a large proportion of us going forward, without spooking us, the productive ones, without making us question their noble-lies/control-narratives.
This is a really difficult undertaking, especially if we have ways to spread rumors and truth, as we are doing here.
Yes, we are sustained by vast, chemicallly fed and managed factory-farms which deplete soil.
Lots of us will not survive the coming couple of decades. A new course, or many courses may become more clear to survivors as the downward trajectory of industrial output becomes apparent.
I am both aware of the big, obvious trends, and the fact that humans solve problems and work effectively in much smaller groups.
I am trying to help you get the larger picture, beyond the control-narrative picture you have been explaining to me. A lot of culling will happen to the people who live in dense cities, without individual and small group supports, when the "owners" decide that they are redundant. Look at the UK. It has begun. Japan has chosen a different trajectory. Russia has enough to still grow and maybe Iran can do a little of that in a rebound.
The big global system needs to eat Russia and Iran. Nothing personal... I'm with Joseph Tainter on the system size and complexity declining to what can be supported by available resources. Biggersystems use alot more resources merely to maintain system-complexity atso many levels.
Perhaps I understand you, I am also a avid cyclist and gardener. It`s possible to grasp the big picture while doing the small things. Individually we can`t save the world, but perhaps we can save a few, and in the process, maybe set examples for our neighbors. Wars are after all a magnification of how we treat and interact with our neighbors. So perhaps given that so many of us have the luxury to sit , read and inject our opinions on the tragedies of this world ,we can still make effort , even if its a small, local and unrecognized , its not insignificant
Thank you. Yes, it seems that we havesimilar vantages. Please see my comments to Chang and Landrew. I have alot of chores to do in thenext few hours, before thesun gets super-strong.
Yes, I agree with Chang, wow, have I ever written that ha. My Fathers farm, my Father was an engineer most of his professional life who never left the farm he grew up on in his mind. When he retired he bought a small farm which was a cut out of a much larger farm. My Father grew large gardens and gave away food. I was working in the garden and at the edge, old corn farm and my Fathers garden. I took a photo I was so horrified, my fathers garden some weeds, worms, Biology, the corn field corn nothing else living. I asked my Father's doctor if my Father's cancer was caused by his proximity to the commercial farm and his well. Blank stare. I agree we need to change how and who we live for. Job well done on the gardens, damn they are a lot of work. My Son is the Dir. of Microbiology for a large co. so we have a garden we share : )
Your description of your father's life and cancer, the "blank stare" when you asked about cancer from Ag-chemicals, your own familiarity with farming and gardenings... All of this contributes to your own path.
"8 billion" human paths... The most ever, and it now looks like that number will peak very soon, because people in big, crowded cities are not having children much, not much at all.
That does not account for big, bad things happening, as our owners cull us.
They do not need so many of us and we are consuming their jet fuel and nice nature.
That is evident when you are in a real country. In my part of the u.s. mass transport, the bus goes to the shopping and the jails. The train to the city takes forever and stops at night. What we could have had China, Russia has. We have bombs and not many left.
I have been thinking about where to go. We don't even do science unrelated to the military in the u.s. now. More of my blathering later : )
Drumpf is actually the most insecure person ever to sit in the oval office, he is a child who wants his older siblings toys because, he thinks it will make him appear stronger, it just makes him a simperinng child. Anyone he sees as having more power than him causes a tantrum.
The laughable part is he is being played by Zionist Jews, who want to rule the world and are using him as their way to get there, oce his usefulness is gone, so will Drunmpf, by a real marksman this time.
Look how many fat cats Jews have moved closets him ready to make their move as soon as the marksman does the dirty work for them. He is such a loser, preteding he's a wolf.
"Facilitate the collective dawning of the realization that everything westerners have been taught about their society and their world is a lie."
Here are our marching orders--get to work now! There's no let up until we've brought the light of dawn into every Westerner's life, and they realize how much they've been manipulated and lied to. No excuses! We've got a world to save from the "real terrorists" of the military-industrial complex.
Wow, I needed this. Spent five hours today listening to someone debate in our “progressive group” how that chant “Death to the IDF.” was so horrific. Can’t wait to forward your article. 👍🏼

It was mentioned on Michael Tracy’s X that 81% of Republicans support bombing Iran and 15% of Democrats. It’s a graph from Quinnipiac Poll.

Of course you are correct that the root problem is the US empire, and that inclides most of the western nations, but death to the IDF is a start.
Yes, I agree - death to the IDF is a VERY good start.
It is a seed needed to be planted. We all grow from there to plant more, in the "War Again$t the Machine".
Seeds create roots. Help Wanted.
No, I mean the IDF.
Empire and the system of Capitalism (of which colonialism, imperialism, etc. is a part).
I’m not interested in your “correcting” me.
Little UK IS supporting them and many European countries AND Australia.
It needs a VERY 'HUGE" shift.
Economically the US is a disaster already happening.
Nobody of influence and authority cares about public opinion. They crave American carrot and fear American stick.
Yep we never learn at Hypersonic speeds : (
"Spread distrust in the imperial propaganda services known as the western press by spotlighting their deceptions and manipulations".
I like to think that we are doing a little bit of this by rallying round Caitlin.
Protest outside MSM.
Stay safe and don't get trampled underfoot.
russian_bot, Hello to you too!
I love that expert sarcasm, my friend : )
And how I love that expert brown-nosing you have no idea 😉 The apparent pleasure it brings to both parties. The cringe aspect of it.
Glad you're listening. Safety first. One can learn so much from this blog.
I do, as do you, Sister Caitlin: https://drjohnsblog.substack.com/p/red-carpet-off-ramp-for-bibi
Grow vegetables and ride your bike, too, circumstances permitting...
Instead, look into Resource-Based Economies, SHARING (instead of everyone doing their own thing), co-operating on different processes, etc. (https://onecommunityglobal.org/resource-based-economy/)
Here's some alternatives to your suggestion:
Indu, I didn't mean to imply community-based initiates (the resource-based economy link I used was just an example).
For a more thorough examination of a model that is VERY DIFFERENT from Capitalism, I suggest checking out some of the following resources ->

(3) What is a Resource-Based Economy and Why is it Humanity's Best Hope? (https://www.resourceism.com/2022/03/what-is-resource-based-economy.html)
Ok, I'm not going to get into a discussion with a 'climate-change-denying' idiot/moron. Too many of those on Substack.
<End-Of-Discussion>
Here, consider these steps carefully:
Deciding where To Grow Vegetables: https://drjohnsblog.substack.com/p/deciding-where-to-grow-vegetables
Preparing Your Kitchen Garden: https://drjohnsblog.substack.com/p/preparing-your-kitchen-garden
Growing Food: https://drjohnsblog.substack.com/p/growing-food
holy shit - bananas, do those grow back every spring?
Yes, the big rhizome is under the ground and the "trees" are just one-time shoots to grow fruit.
No, you misunderstand my comment completely.
Yours in Service, John.
Give a vegetable to a friend : ) Sounds like a campaign : )
butterfly's wings, if nothing else
