You're an acute thinker and a superb writer, and fortunately you have decades ahead of you to inform and motivate other people. Thank you, Caitlin!

Over the past five years, there has rarely been much doubt in my mind that the world is run by sociopaths with huge influence ( money). Sometimes I can't help wondering about the distorted neural circuitry that might underpin homo sapiens sociology. Then I remember globalized corporate capitalism and it all becomes clearer.

I'm watching "The Today Show", as I write this. Seems Russia is poised to invade Ukraine any minute now. Seems US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken was saying this since last November, Seems I've been hearing the about the imminent Russian invasion of Ukraine since at least '14, just after the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. So now here in '22, Russia is still poised to imminently invade Ukraine. 3rd Winter Olympics and we're still waiting...

There is dissent among various Olympians, and some protests about China's treatment of the Uyghurs even though a Uyghur carried a Chinese flag in the opening ceremony?! Reported as 'severe' propaganda. Waving your nation's flag is propaganda if it doesn't have stars and stripes. I didn't hear about the recent US missile attack in Syria that killed women and children to take out a 'serious' ISIS leader, nor did I hear any mention of the over 2,000,000 people that the US has killed this century in the war against the terrorists. Or the millions of refugees created by US and allied aggression. They were talking about all the refugees the imminent Russia invasion of Ukraine would possibly create in a maybe war.

It's all about the 'framing' and who's creating the frames that are allowed for 'official' viewing. I'm guessing that few folks would see what I found glaringly obvious this morning watching NBC(the Olympic network) in just a few minutes as I read Caitlin's "notes". Shifting the frame from which one views opens up all sorts of possibilities our ruling master's would rather keep hidden in the corporate(MSM) media propaganda machine. The weavers of these convoluted spells are getting better with each passing decade. Ukraine? Iraq? Afghanistan? Kuwait? The 'Nam? Imperialism? It's what the US does and it's American as apple pie. Peace, All

around the beginning of the war on Iraq, i happened upon an italian author (journalist?) whose book was listed on Amazon. the book was about how an employee of an ambassy in Italy conjured up the "intelligence" about Sadam's WMD (and prolly the Nigerian yellow cake as well?) which everyone knew was in great demand and sold it to multiple spy agencies of US, UK, France, Germany etc etc. those agencies contacted each other, compared their "intel," and declared it "confirmed" as true since they all had the same intel. very convenient, and win win win all around, except for Iraqi people and Sadam.

as the author pointed out, it was not the first or only time that the "intel" business was practiced that way. in fact, where there is demand for a particular intel, there are always suppliers of the exact in-demand intel, which get distributed widely and used to justify the criminals and their crimes.

later, i went back to find the name of the Italian author but couldn't find any trace of such a book. does anyone remember that book?

I can fully understand that if you are clever and intelligent, very well informed and have a large following of serious minded readers, you need to allow a trickle of humour to emerge on occasions to maintain a level of sanity. Not too much sanity, mind you. You do need to be able to cope with American exceptionalism. But.......

Nigeria and Switzerland? A pending disaster. I hear it is all around the halls of the Biden Blight House already. They are now loading up the aircraft with weapons. Watch this space.

Who would have guessed? But we have your official statement, so....

Devastating parody of our cute neo-con mischef-makers!

The culture war was literally invented to neuter the American left.

And it worked like a charm.

I think the relentless focus on nation-states/geo-politics is becoming a bit anachronistic in itself in some regard. In many ways the nation-states are pieces on a chess board but the game is all being played by the same people who are moving them around and playing them off against each other and on another level those people really have shared/common interests and aren't ultimately affected much by who wins or loses (they see to it their interests are always advanced in any case).

That's not to say that they aren't flirting with very real calamity and imperiling us all in the process. They most certainly are, but I couldn't fucking believe my eyes when I actually saw Ben Norton tweeting basically that the global capitalism is just some scare story made up by the right wing and framing anti-imperialism as strictly about a geo-political focus (national imperialism) when to me it's really ensconced in class war as are just about all other issues. Talk about power-serving. Useful idiocy really doesn't get much more useful.

I'm glad that the State Department's animatronic fecal bleater is getting the widespread coverage that it deserves. How many eyes will be opened because of it is difficult to say, but in our wall-to-wall bullshit landscape, even small moments of clarity must be acknowledged and celebrated. Moments of satire deserve the same thing.
