I have lived probably the saddest week of my life, but we need to keep going. I’m heading to Istanbul to support because in the past 14 hours the zionist regime of israel illegally intercepted 39 civilian vessels with humanitarian aid heading to Gaza and kidnapped over 300 non-violent participants of the @globalsumudflotilla solidarity mission.
There are still 12 boats trying to make it and being chased through the night of the Mediterranean by the israeli navy committing another war crime. Help to spread what is happening, demand a safe passage for the 12 boats, the immediate release of the hundreds of kidnapped people today and, most importantly, KEEP TALKING ABOUT GAZA. The only reason we organize these missions for so many years is because the Palestinian people keep calling for global support and this is another of the many forms that we found to do it.
This time I hope it’s a very quick trip to make sure our people are home safe and that their voices and the voices of the Palestinians in Gaza are heard. And then I’ll get back home to recharge (I need it more than I like to admit). It’s been 12 days on hunger strike and the loss of my mother that took a big toll on my physical and emotional health, but home and surrounded by family and Brazilian nature we can cure anything.
Sorry for the late responses. I lost all my electronics, almost all my clothes and still didn’t organize myself to get new ones. Hopefully I’ll solve it soon. Thank you all for your love and support. We are together, a big hug and let’s transform this world.
Great podcast. On the subject is porn, the ethical and problematic aspects you describe are very real. But your analysis contains some stereotyping of gay male sexuality, which is not all top/bottom in relationship, and that aspect of power dynamics is pan sexual as is demonstrated in BDSM and kink culture. The kind of porn you describe is very common, but not at all as prevalent as you might think, as there is a huge genre of amateur porn uploaded to the internet by consenting couples that spans vanilla to taboo kink on the spectrum of sexuality. You may also note that there are millions of people who do not have a partner, and are lonely. None of these points is meant to rationalize anything, but is intended to make more nuanced observations about real human behaviour. In any case, we should move to a discussion about how we might decrease the problematic aspects of porn, assuming you aren’t suggesting a total ban on its existence. Like social media, porn is engineered to be addictive. Coincidently, porn is at the centre of the Ai industry, and people can now create their own sexual scenarios with partners of their own design. Yikes!
