I don't think either group will succeed. I'd be surprised if the USA simply does not self destruct. Part of the reason for that is that the nation refuses to acknowledge the social cancer that has infected it, and that includes the vast majority of our "best" journalists.

I promise to catch up on it in near future. But would like anyone with knowledge to tell me if there is a difference between socialist and communist? Any recommendations for reading? There are no bosses or CEOs to collect profits from workers' labor. Getting to that economic system is a process and there are different ideas about how to get to it.
Communism is an idealized future economic system of minmal labor and total shared wealth in which there is no state and perfect economic equality. The entire system will be owned communally. Marx summarized it by the famous quote "from each according to his abilites, to each according to his need." Its the end goal. Its an idealized utopia.
Most communists beleive that humanity must pass through a period of socialism before attaining communism, but they name themselves for their end goal.
There are also competing theories on an evolutionary or revolutionary process to get to that socialism stage. Most evolutionaries call themselves "socialists" but the name can apply to anyone who wants it, even revoluntionaries.
A revolution does not have to be violent, but it is unlikely those in power will just give it up peacefully.
