I remember from the early weeks of the genocide, watching a video of a man holding the body of a decapitated baby. I’m wasn’t even sure what I was seeing at first. The shock coursed through my body like lightning. Then, only a few months later, the somehow more graphic image of a man’s entire body crushed by an IOF bulldozer. Of course, the horrors beyond comprehension continue and now feature babies and children slowly starving to death. I do not know how we are supposed to exist alongside people who not only excuse these atrocities, but cheer them on. I pray there will be a reckoning, but I’m not holding my breath.
Let us hope there will be a reckoning, as you say and that this reckoning starts soon. Let us make it in September when the remaining weak white Western Nations may have seen the error of their ways, their pathetically weak ways (based on the profit motive in the supply of military goods to the Genocidal Israel) and be motivated to join France in the support of Palestine at that time during a meeting of the General Assembly in the once respected United Nations, now just a shadow of its past achievements.
The UN, designed for the control of matters such as we are seeing in Palestine today. Having seen the outcomes after WWII, the world determined the need for such a body. Has had a good record too, managing many arrogant moves by governments to play the power game justifying actions by the UN PeaceKeepers. Respected once. Toothless in fighting the corrupted USA and its controller, the criminal state of Israel however, as they used so many threats to the ICC and others to show their combined might by a total disregard for any UN decision..
Now all of us are fully aware that keeping peace with God's Chosen People, the Genocidal Israelis, would have been a task not achievable by the UN with the totally corrupted USA as their bedmate. Add to that with a megalomanic like Trump, the very circumstances we are experiencing today, it would have almost been an impossibility for the UN to be able to act on such an action. WHY?
The USA veto, a ridiculous used-to-excess anomaly, giving history's most evil and arrogant hegemonic power player a sense of importance which they used mercilessly, cruelly, selfishly, without any concern for others, ever. When a country votes to have a man like Trump as a leader, then there is something wrong with the system. When that same country allows hundreds of millions of dollars to assist in such an outcome, then they are corrupt. When the same country sees merit in the support of a state like Israel, their judgement is unworthy of the multi millions of decent people who occupy the land.
As Kissinger said, "America does not have any friends”.
There never was a truer statement made in history. Nor do they deserve any.
I have been writing my MP here in Canada. I’ve sent her stories I’ve seen on substack, annd pictures, and I’ve begged her to have her government put a stop to Canada’s complicity. She’s a new MP, elected in 2024, a member of the governing Liberal Party. A young mother, teaches primary school children, active in helping those in need in her rural community. I get no reply.
What did you honestly expect? If there is no financial advantage for them or their party it will be a frosty morning in Hell before you get a response.
I think it is not only money. They fear to be called jew haters. That is a dead sentence in the west. "Antisemite" used to be one who hates jews. Today "antisemite" is one whom jews hate - which is pretty much everyone. Stupid west becomes victim of its own lies and depravity.
They are all afraid that they will be called antisemites and jew haters. This is what 80 years of propaganda and lies does. Hollowcaust industry of lies and perversion.
Dear Caitlin, 🙏 One day you will find peace. You have done your utmost to be with the people of Gaza. And made countless people become aware of the suffering of the Palestinians. You have given a forum for many friends here to share your grief. It became my comfort. We weep with you.
Dreyfus is spineless. Our government, generally, is too, too careful about offending the sensitivities of our great and powerful 'friend'. The Opposition is pathetic. Nightmare witness descriptions, the undeniable photographic evidence, the cries for help mean nothing to this collection of unprincipled, ethically challenged shonks. I despair.
My MP is Anthony Housefather. Those who live in Canada will know how sad that is. It is sad that a person like him, a committed zionist, could even be in our government. At the beginning of the genocide, I sent a couple of emails to him. Surprisingly he responded. To tell me that I just didn't understand. One of his responses sounded like a veiled threat asking me what my neighbours might think about my views. I live in a Jewish neighbourhood. I hope, Caitlin, that your MP is not as lacking in empathy as mine here is.
Sounds a lot like the response I received from President Biden when I wrote him in 2023 asking him to demand a ceasefire. Although he didn’t threaten me, the tone of his letter was hostile. I later learned that the words in it were cribbed from Netanyahu talking points. I am dismayed by how many Democrats in the U.S. are willing to accept from Democrats (support of the genocide) what they criticize in Trump. A journalist who covers Gaza referred to them as the MAGA blue cult. They don’t seem to have any problem voting for Democrats who unconditionally support Israel.
We must be neighbours. I live in the same Montreal riding. What a scummy little creep of a zionist he is! Writing to these people won’t yield any good result unfortunately.
I’m writing to you as your constituent, deeply distressed by the worsening crisis in Gaza.
The mass starvation of Palestinians, the blocking of aid, and the killing of civilians have been condemned by international experts as acts of genocide. Prime Minister Albanese has belatedly acknowledged that Israel’s actions are “indefensible” and in breach of international law.
But words are not enough. Australia must actually respond with more than a verbal slap on the wrist to genocide.
I request that you to support the following urgent actions:
#1 Officially recognize the state of Palestine, which primary historical documents (from its enemies, no less https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pal%C3%A4stinalied) attest has existed since the Crusades 8 centuries ago, and arguably since the Romans 2 milleniums ago. It is a disgrace that Australia still fails to acknowledge this fact, and in doing so still legitimizes the genocide of Palestinians.
#2 Halt the export (or transfer) of any Australian-made weapons (or parts) that could be (or already are being) used in the Israel settler colonial genocide of Palestinians. We have ratified and domestically legislated the Genocide Convention and other global governance that compels us to this duty. It is disgraceful that our government has thus far also failed to act on this.
#3 Impose targeted sanctions on Israeli officials responsible for war crimes, as our global governance treaties and Conventions require of us. We used to not be sociopaths, and stand up to war criminal states, and now we cover for them? NOT IN MY NAME!
#4 Call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire. Whatever peace deal the Palestinians and Israelis end up with, Israel must withdraw its 'world's best army' Genocide Forces back to the pre-1967 boundaries of the Occupied Palestinian Territories, and make every reasonable effort to compel its long illegally-enabled violent settlers in Palestine to return to Israel's lands, or back to Europe, where almost all of their white (Ashkenazi-Israeli) ancestors pre-1940s were born.
These steps are critical to upholding international law, protecting lives, and standing for human rights.
Please do everything in your power to ensure Australia is no longer so disgustingly complicit in this humanitarian catastrophe.
My letter was simply “feed people, get medical care so people can safely eat”. I mentioned that I am old enough to remember atrocities after atrocities but this is by far the worst.
Honestly just wish it was a proper government petition where government ministers have to debate it once it reaches a certain number.
Sometimes all I can feel is the incredible shock of yet another worse story and the sadness and the relief I am not one of those heartless cruel bastards making this happen. May they rot in hell.
Thank you, Caitlin. I had begun writing in my own country (the U.S.) to the five Democratic senators, Klobuchar, Booker, Schiff, Schumer and Rosen, who posed smiling with Netanyahu during his recent visit to the White House. They have all consistently voted to fund the genocide and have all taken money from AIPAC. I confess, though, that my first (and so far only) letter to the five was angry and judgmental. In it I accused Senator Klobuchar of betraying the rule of law, her oath of office and the people of the U.S. by committing our tax dollars to fund the genocide. I will try to modify my tone, as your approach about what moved you to write may be more effective. I too have been motivated by the pictures and the reports of doctors returning from Gaza.
Mark Dreyfus as the Attorney General was continually labelled as “antisemitic” despite being Jewish & having family members killed in the Holocaust. The label came only from the Australian version of AIPAC, the AJA. The Australian Government is compromised in potentially losing its sovereignty as we rely on AUKUS for security. PM Albanese can’t hedge his bets for much longer, and is seeking security & economic alternatives such as China, as America continues to protect Israel.
Caitlin, I wondered if you had any comment on the antics of self-confessed genocide worshipper Daniel Lewkovitz in the Australian media, and the reaction of Australian society?
I remember from the early weeks of the genocide, watching a video of a man holding the body of a decapitated baby. I’m wasn’t even sure what I was seeing at first. I'm sure there will be a reckoning but it will come of course too late for many.

Ron: There is no gracious way to say it.
They know. Your [dis]honorable MP knows. Your PM knows. The former PM [the lesser son of an ignoble father] knows. They all know.
Radicalize. Reject the narrative.
Refuse to be retained as a political hostage.
Build toward the prosecution of all responsible.
What did you honestly expect? If there is no financial advantage for them or their party it will be a frosty morning in Hell before you get a response.
Exactly. Follow the money and you'll find who your MPs are willing to pay attention to.

Canadian politicians are Western empire lickspittles, generally (this Canadian citizen opines).
I too wrote recently to the PM, Leader of the Opposition and Foreign Minister. Again. It's what we can do. Let's keep on doing it.
I write my MP in Canada too and I never get a reply. I feel your frustration.
They are all afraid that they will be called antisemites and jew haters. This is what 80 years of propaganda and lies does. Hollowcaust industry of lies and perversion.
What a powerful letter, Caitlin, and what a horrible sight.
The Netherlands have taken action, and I hope the rest of the world follows suit, including Australia.
This. Must. Stop.

I do hope that Mark Dreyfus will heed your plea.
I despair.
You are pretty disenchanted with politics. We need change I think
Watch Dreyfus deflect, obfuscate, blame the victims and otherwise try to change the subject.
For his only law is getting and staying in his American Master's good favor.

You left out - Recall all Australian Embassy staff from Israel and close every Israeli embassy in Australia and eject all personnel from the country.
A great letter, Ghost. Your MP should sit up and take notice.

The utter, utter evil of those who don’t say, STOP!
Sometimes all I can feel is the incredible shock of yet another worse story and the sadness and the relief I am not one of those heartless cruel bastards making this happen. May they rot in hell.
Dear God in Heaven, Caitlin...I don't know what to say. I will share this here in Canada.
EXACTLY!!! There is NO excuse for this.
Thank you, Caitlin. Really thoughtful and reflective.
