You are correct! It’s not ok! In fact it’s immoral US/ Israel actions. Morals, conscience, integrity are not present in “ leadership”. Just utter evil against humans and the environment.

I viewed a couple Pete Hegseth/Marco Rubio press conferences. Their religious "beliefs" would be laughable comedy if they weren't serious... Both persons are delusional in the extreme, and the jewish/christian right applauds their Arm-a-Gideon theme...

The vast majority of us proletarian grown US adults had better get used to the idea that our economy is about to get its ass kicked, courtesy of the incomparable criminal ineptitude of our government and the preparation of Iran for this moment.

Whats coming will most likely make 2008 look like a birthday party. The strange part, this is what the Oligarchs do, they lose millions working people lose everything then the Oligarchs buy it back for 10% as they have done from the beginning of Capitalism. Obummer actually had the chance to end that cycle and gave Trillions to those who surrounded him allowing him to join their crowd. : (

Vin LoPresti's avatar

Ahhhhhrrrggghh Obummer. Pttoooeey. Yet another chameleon, charlatan hypocrite, shining among the pantheon of US leaders who'd previously modeled that role for him.

I still battle with which vote I made, my first vote for the murder of millions of East Timor because they wanted healthcare, education, housing, a standard of living for all. The hidden evil monster Jimmy Carter or Obummer the fake common man righting the wrong and then transferring Trillions to his friends while taking millions for himself. Vin what is coming is worse than 2008 and there is nowhere to escape. Over the weekend I have been looking at all the charts I can of capital flow. Blackrock, Blackstone have closed there doors to pension fund, banking withdraws as of last Fri. That is a market I never looked at until I purchased put options on a private capital fund Lehman Brothers.

When they went bankrupt I assumed it was accidental and then today how could this be accidental? What is happening everywhere can not be accidental can it?

This war on Iran is not possible to win, so why do this to lose. Weapon sales because there is nothing left for them to steal from working people. Sorry this

sounds so unhinged, I hope what I am seeing is wrong. I wasn't wrong in 2007.

I should delete this.... I have a feeling I will be writing that often now. I know I am

not telling you anything you don't know. I am telling myself what I thought would not happen again, and again and again. Still thinking about deleting this.............................. Be happy you will own nothing. : (

If you are really concerned who you voted for affecting certain people, certain ways, take a deep, deep breath my friend and relax, you had nothing to do with it.

If you honestly and truly believe your vote really puts a person in power, just think about it seriously. How could I in England know 100% that Trump was going to get back in 6 months before his win was announced? Well first because I read or rather slogged my way through Project 2025 at that time and luckily I remembered Trump mentioning it, admittedly hurriedly, towards the end of his first term. Trump was the only person who could carry Project 2025 off with his overflated ego, his show host type of presentation, the perfect fit, which is why he wasn't allowed to win a double term before.

Voting is like all the other games they get the people to play to think they are actually doing something. Here in England as you'll know, we have several parties to choose from, so let's say there's some party out there who people really like, when they vote them in, they've lost. The only way a party can get in, is if they've already sold out. If they refuse to do that, every single person in the UK could vote for them and they still wouldn't win.

Do what I do with anyone who gets in, reverse every single thing they promised, carry on reversing all of their term and like me you can live rest assured that you'll be right roughly 98% of the time.

My friend, I am gobsmacked by the machinations of these hucksters, and I admit to being somewhat prone to burying my head in the sand because I have so many reasons for anxiety both closer to and farther from my heart. And I defer to Mr. Kruger's possible explanation, simply because I pale at the prospect of cogently explaining anything that billionaires perpetrate upon the planet and the rest of the society.

My friend, in my capital flow research this weekend, I discovered Bill Gates asked for a loan from Blackstone? Now I am not 100% sure on this. Have you found anything on this? Why would Bill Gates need cash? Debt greater than income? Strange and this would panic the world if this is true.

Landru's avatar

Gates would not need Blackstone for leverage.

No surprise there. The US military is the most indoctrinated institution on earth. And nothing indoctrinates more deeply than religious belief "systems". Hegseth is as batshit insane as any of the rest of Trump's criminal gang, so I'm sure his version of the Bible correlates with the rest of his psychopathy.

That entire sick regime and all its enablers should be permanently housed in a maximum security prison for the criminally insane. But of course, it'll never happen. Zero accountability is the chief characteristic of America's political, military and economic "leaders", so we wouldn't want to break with tradition.

“There are too many grown adults who believe the most ridiculous fairy tales”.

Yes, 90% of adults pray to Someone in the sky.

serafino bueti's avatar

Fortunately, there are many adults who side with the Underdog. Although, more and more, the Underdog is looking like the Overdog in this case.

Veronica Baker's avatar

I will always side with the underdog if a country is committing an illegal act against them, when they have committed no action against the country attacking them.

In the case of Palestine and Iran both how I feel about those countries and the illegal actions against them come into play why I choose to side with them.

serafino bueti's avatar

I hear that, but I also consider morality. It's a slight distinction, but the ''legal'' framework is oftentimes able to be exploited. I hear folks today talking about the Iraq invasion in 1991, (comparing it to the current, illegal invasion) and saying it was ok because the UN gave it the green light. Bombs are bombs.

Veronica Baker's avatar

The UN is bloody useless, there again it wasn't brought in to do what it pretends to, I was against the Gulf war regardless of the UN greenlighting it.

serafino bueti's avatar

Yep, the UN was created to create the fake State of Israel, which gives Israel their ''Right to Exist,'' according to Israel. Yet, when the UN passes any resolution to hold Israel to account, on anything, Israel claims that the UN has no authority to do so. So yes, the UN is bloody useless, at best.

Veronica Baker's avatar

During his first term, Trump was saying the UN would move to Jerusalem in a few years, don't know how true it is but nothing would surprise me.

The truth cannot be suppressed and the reality is being shown despite the increasingly unhinged posts by Trump on Truth Social to the contrary. The world is going to be a different place when this ends. Israel, for example, has told its citizens it can't protect them. Despite the blackout and threats of prison for those who photograph the damage, it gets out by word of mouth.

Iran has advanced weaponry that cannot be intercepted. America does not yet have hypersonics. Three carriers are planned for the fight from the USA . One is damaged and one is on the way. They must keep a safe distance. Our weapons stock cannot be replenished fast enough to keep up.

The Strait of Hormuz is effectively closed and the effects will send shockwaves around the world that even the slowest most oblivious people will stand up and notice.

An education in geopolitics is coming to everyone whether they want it or not. Then we'll see demands for answers. Lies and propaganda have limits.

SW's avatar

The cowardly moneygrubbers (UAE, Saudia Arabia, Qatar) have found out much to their horror the US and Israel are quite the backstabbers. I don’t feel sorry for them — they never once tried to help the Palestinians as they were being bombed and starved. Reality has not and will not be giving them a free pass and an education in geopolitics is on their horizon.

Veronica Baker's avatar

I saw this morning on a video a letter from the Israeli occupiers, although they call themselves settlers, directed to Netanyahu. They want him to make a public speech to explain what is going on as Iranian missiles hit around them. And accuse him of quite rightly, fleeing the country or hiding in a deep underground bunker where he will be safe amongst a few other choice words.

I cannot remember them ever doing this while they were cheering on what was being done, still happening in Gaza and the West Bank, so I find it more than hard to have sympathy for them. Time they had a dose of the same medicine they are so good at handing out.

Wren's avatar

The Hypersonics can easily reach deep bunkers and destroy everyone in them. Bunkers are no longer a safe refuge. This was evidenced in Ukraine when Oreshnik arrived.

I don't know where Bibi is. Perhaps he'll turn up in Mar-a-Lago or Germany or Cyprus or even Miami where he tucked his son and wife safely away from the war he started. Clearly, he plans to evade the conflagrations he has lit.

Iranian terms to end this will not forget Gaza and the Palestinians. As to the "settlers"-the devil take them.

Veronica Baker's avatar

They can and Iran did just that about four days ago, straight through the building on top and into a well protected bunker, killed somebody high up in the Israeli military. I doubt that news traveled far in Israel, I only saw one brief mention by an Israel media person and once on European, then no mention any more.

I know he originally went to Germany, he was seen there but whether he's moved on I haven't heard.

Veronica Baker's avatar

It is indeed, only a couple of years ago it was the largest in the world after Israel, I haven't checked lately.

Most of them are in Iran because when Israel decided it wanted to become a State they wanted more Jews to create a bigger society. So they went into all the countries they're against now and started rounding them up and forcing them in to occupied Palestine.

They couldn't get into Iran and many from Palestine who had lived there prior to the Ashkenazi Jews going there, from Lebanon, Syria and Iraq fled to Iran, and Iran has kept them safely ever since, many of them now being descendants of the original ones.

There is no need to embellish the regime to argue against this war

The elections are gated upstream of the vote via the candidate that the theocratic layer allows to even participate

There is no free press

There is a police state

Etc.

But that is not sufficient to cheer on or justify adding to existing confions there military or economic war that always victimize the people itself

those are pretexts for other goals of war

Yet I don’t need more illusions to counter the warmongering ones

martin's avatar

do you think mr roy is lying?

dboing dboing's avatar

I think it might be selective. A bit too much about the precedence of the clerical priority over the republican structure. The gating for me makes one sentence in there stand out as dissonant. it might just be my priors. I don't think anyway that elections make a democracy. There are other pillars needed for the elections to be part of a democratic system. But, if taken as isolated facts with restricted scope of context for each.. it is not false. just not a complete picture, and heavy of the connotations... not tyranical can be lots of things.. if we even had the same notion for that.. I might have been too far in calling those illusions. But in the thick fog, and not being verifiable, and being tired of all the language in vain in general, I just want to pass. Also, I don't need to know if true or false, the imperial bullshit would top it all. War is not going to change any of the pretexts used, even if there was any truth to any of them. I think I get annoyed at statements adressng the pretexts, and not being verifiable. red herring? The moral reasoning is elsewhere.

Duane McPherson's avatar

"It’s not okay for grown adults to believe the United States wages wars to promote humanitarian interests and bring freedom and democracy to oppressed populatiions."

Even if the US were waging wars with a sincere desire to promote humanitarian interests and democracy, it's not okay. Such an effort is also imperialism, because it is all about imposing >your< idea of humanitarian interests and >your< idea of self-rule. It assumes that there is some objectively superior system of social organization that simultaneously optimizes conditions for individuals and for society at large. And that you know what that organization looks like. The only system that comes close to that is life in hunter-gatherer bands and tribes, where personal property (of the material sort) is near-zero. Life in those groups (some, at least) is radically egalitarian, in the sense that no one is allowed to rise above the rest. Tolstoy understood this; aside from him, very few.

It's not okay for mature adults to promote imperialism based on humanitarian ideas, or any other ideas, no matter how benevolent the intent. It's not okay to impose your society onto another society, period. That is why every healthy society pushes back against such an attempt.

Can we please raise the level of conversation here to consider that?

Indu Abeysekara's avatar

Duane McPherson, That's exactly what Caitlin is doing " raising the level of conversation...". Don't you get it? She says " It's not okay for grown adults..... ".

Duane McPherson's avatar

No, she's not. Read it again, more slowly.

Veronica Baker's avatar

I agree with everything but isn't that what we are doing here, reading Caitlin's writings who pretty much covers what you are saying. We come to share thoughts and feelings about the horrors that more than just the US have and still do by the West.

This pretty much started by "missionaries" going into countries that didn't want them there, sometimes agreeing to their version of god just to get them to go away. What those people, who were living mainly happy lives, didn't know, was that the so called good missionaries were the advance parties for the armies of their counties that were not far behind them.

Pretty terrible, but that is the two-party hegemonic system in a nutshell. For as long as I can remember, there has never been a strong independent candidate since Nader in the 2000 election.
