The 'dilemma' as you call it, is believing that one must choose between the two evils who dominate the airwaves and ballot access. Vote for Dr. Jill Stein. You'll feel better after you do. I know I did.

Cornell is a shill for Biden and ask Jimmy Dore and others about his real lack of wanting to win this race! His last speech had maybe 20 people show up! No there is only one hope and that is Dr. Jill Stein! You have to get past the lies about her and her chances because they are scared to death of her! Over 400000 at her speeches! The numbers shown in polls are lies! This is the real problem because at the end of the day they can report who they want as the winner and there won't be any question or if there is it is too late! I believe if Dr. Stein does not win we must take up arms because we will be truly fucked otherwise!

Expand full comment

Cornel is a fucking joke running a vanity campaign but doing everything to lose. This asshole exists for one reason, to preach himself into an endorphine high while name dropping REAL black heroes like he has ever done anything to earn a place among their names. He builds up in the tempo as he delivers the same cold leftovers of the Bernie message seasoned with a do-nothing anti-racism rhetoric. Then when hes done building up his dose of chemicals he drops to a whisper when his self medication kicks in and talks like hes delivering some gentle cosmic wisdom on you like a cult leader. Ask him if Biden is a fascist though and watch him squirm to protect his boomer based Democrat gravy train.

Expand full comment

Tad harsh on Cornel. If you would listen his message is worth of hearing and following. We sure could use more brotherly love.

Bernie is Bernie he had a great run last election only to end up usurping to the higher power : the DNC. Biden and Trump both can go screaming and kicking into the jaws of hell. The only sane choice is Jill Stein: People...Planet ...and PEACE. We so desperately need more peace thru dialogue and negotiation and not the sword. We must use our words not our fists. Jill is the best of the choices available to us.

Expand full comment

Not yelling at you, but I would be yelling it if in person.

Expand full comment

I have listened to his message and he has proven is just hot air. He has been asked by many interviewers and shows where he stands on Biden's baltant fascism and he will not do say or do anything that would threaten his cushy dem lifestyle. He has even smeared the black activists of RBN as being on "Jimmy Dores plantation". Cornel just name drops real black leaders while in actuality serving the liberal white moderates that Malcom X and King warned about. That brotherly love he preaches is just to get people back to voting for the Dems. Cornball West is an apt name for this circus clown.

You make him sound like a Democrat loyalist guising as an independent. He was on the Green-Rainbow Party momentarily then (unbenounced to me why) he went independent. Bit ya I agree with you: he's kinda flaky. Jill Stein will be getting my vote.

It’s the threat of justice being meted out to those insidious characters, but they will always be protected. The Guillotine is roughly, a way of delivering justice, but the ethics and morals of doing so can be questioned. There’s no ethics, or morals and certainly no legality murdering innocent civilians in Gaza, but it is one that those who perpetrate the crime just don’t give a damn as they are untouchable, at least for now.

It might take a long essay to support the proposition that the murder of bad people is still murder even if it was part of group practicing justified vengeance. But the short answer is still- two wrongs don't make a right.

When we think of 'Our actions' we think of a majority of informed people making a decision to eg support genocide and the murder of innocent children. But these actions are taken by or supported by our leaders. And while we also feel or think that our leaders are elected by us and broadly carry out our wishes and respond to our demands -that is an illusion. Most informed people know that the Americans control our western governments if we are not in America and the group who control us also control the American people. The mind control that the system exerts over us had until recently a control which caused us to believe that if we were criticizing Zionism then we were being anti semitic. Th Jewish State's response to the horrors of October 7 has now loosened that blindfold and we are able to see and know that the Jewish State of Israel is also the Zionist State and its reaction to the limited horrors committed on its citizens have been psychopathic. The Palalistians in the West Bank under zionist control have known the horrors of mass murders committed on them for may decades. Not we as a people or group of peoples are psychopaths but our leaders under he control of the psychopathic Zionist clearly are .

It’s very disconcerting to me. I was one of the fools who assumed Israel fought with honor and on the side of righteousness. They had at least one or both hands tied behind their backs. I now understand that it’s not even close to being the case.

They do all the worst things I assumed of Hamas and Hezbollah. Jesus, the Israelis are making those groups look sane. The tactic they are using is simple in its concept but effective. It’s called scorched earth then throwing salt on it. Nothing like giving a good hard kick to the man who’s down.

It’s a risky “no holds barred” strategy. And They better hope this works. I think it’s failing tho as more people come online as I have. Israel is merely an analogous example of the overall situation. Ukraine is another. Neither scenario gives me much hope for the future. Hope that’s just my paranoid world view kicking in.

What perplexes me is - why can't other people wake up and see that the world has gone mad? Why are there so few of us? Being sane (for those that have woken up) in an insane world feels lonely, isolating, disconcerting, and jarring. What is the point of humanity if this is how humans behave?

I don't think the world has gone mad.

I think it always was. I've been looking at the propaganda for WW11 with attractive British women working the land and doing their bit to protect a brutal dying Empire against a brutal rising (though unsuccessful) one.

And each generation will have us believe we’re special and superior to those before us because of this new shiny thing we’ve come up with (religion, science, enlightenment, sliced bread, etc.). My father who is still alive and as sharp as a tack has always believed that the fundamental problem lies with homosapiens at a structural level - the we’re-just-born-rotten school of thought and nothing will ever fix it/us. Growing up, I used to always think he’s such a misanthrope but now see his wisdom (he (& I) come from a very turbulent part of the world so the current events happening are par for the course). We’re a very aggressive animal that is capable of holding two contradictory traits that are both fundamental for survival: we are cooperative yet highly antagonistic and aggressive. Caitlin, Aren't the horrors of Sudan as much a US/West project as Israel's Gaza war crimes? The African continent is what it is today due to the flow of cause and effect of colonialism. When decolonisation happened (mainly with Soviet moral support) and nationalist leaders came up to build a new Africa, they were eliminated by the West and a virulent neocolonialism took over. Scratch the surface of any 'civil war' raging there and you will find who funds them. Maybe they are not as overtly done as with Israel.

Gaddafi of Libya had visions of a Pan Africa and it was a dangerous concept for the West and he had to go. Who could forget Hilary Clinton's infamous words " we came; we saw; he died".

The middle east and Africa are with absolute certainty in the chaotic and desperate condition they're in because of western imperialism, but I used the word "directly" above because what's being done in Gaza is distinct from civil wars indirectly arising from western destabilization. The US could literally end the Gaza onslaught today if it wanted to; that's how extensive its involvement in sustaining this mass atrocity is. You can't say the same for other conflicts in the world.

Caitlin, Thank you very much for your response - I am very grateful. You have made it abundantly clear the difference between actions taken "directly" and "indirectly", which I should have grasped before rushing to post. Very clumsy of me.

Your Newsletter has long been a "lifeline" where I can find sanity and a world view which I subscribe to. You have made possible a safe place, a crucible, where like minded people ( and not so like minded ) can share lively debate and an exchange of ideas.

Most of all love and thanks for the way you have succeeded in bringing awareness to so many.

what about the attempted coup in Africa by american mercenaries?

It’s a good question. There’s no excuse for the lack of discussion and outrage, and I’m among those who’ve focused exclusively on Gaza. It feels awful in so many ways that so many more people are at risk from famine in Sudan than even in Gaza and it’s getting exactly none of the attention. We need to do some real soul-searching about why that is.

I appreciate that comment sincerely.

It's the "divide and conquer" tactic of the genocidal maniacs who are ruling the planet for their corporate masters. If we're so overwhelmed with one big tragedy in the world, we can't take in how many others are occurring simultaneously. Our brains just explode with grief. It's why it's high time that the maniacs-in-charge have their brains disconnected from the rest of their bodies so saner people can step up and bring a halt to these unbearable situations.

I am not surprised to see this. Anyone who has ever been up close and personal to radicalized people knows that there is no limit to their cruelty when it comes to ideology. Ancient history is the great storyteller. Think of the Khmer Rouge, the Serbians, the Nazis, the British, French and Dutch in Africa and so many others throughout history. Now we can add the Zionists to this list of pure ideological evil. They will get their punishment at some point down the road but not before they continue their genocide. Will any Palestinians remain in Gaza and the West Bank by the time the rest of the world figures out how to stop them? That is the existential question for the Palestinians who are trapped in the Gaza barrel with the IDF shooting at them with anything they can find. It would appear that Israel has decided that if they are to go down for this, they will take as many Palestinians as they can with them now. They must think they have nothing else to lose.

So, the bigger question for the colonial powers who enabled this, what will it take to make them cry uncle? Where is the limit to the amount of barbarism they will tolerate? Biden once said he had a red line with Rafah. Obviously, his word means nothing now. What about the rest of the world? Where is their red line? Who will dare to risk soldiers lives to try and stop the insanely mad Israelis now? Any takers? Or is the world full of cowards who would watch children get slaughtered on TikTok and Instagram while wringing their hands telling Israel to stop. We already know that Biden and company are a bunch of sniveling cowards but what about the rest?

There are US boots on the ground in Gaza where the pier washed up. They could march to Rafah in one day and dare IDF to fire on them.

Expand full comment

The Terrorist IDF would shoot them in a heart beat if they believed they were there to stop them from killing babies or if they believed they could get a "false flag" out of the deal. They have killed many Americans already and Israel is at war with the US but the people here don't have a clue! Remember the USS Liberty!

Unfortunately, the Biden Admin wouldn't allow that. Much like what happened to me during the civil war in Lebanon in 1983-1984. We were under orders not to retaliate towards snipers as we were delivering supplies to the American and NATO troops. The navy was allowed to shell Syria to stop the missile batteries but the troops on the ground, not so much. That battalion that is there to build the pier is probably under orders to only defend themselves and U.S. assets only. To bug out if they are overwhelmed by Palestinians. Under no orders will they engage any IDF troops in any way. To do so would warrant a courts marshal offense. From my personal experience, I am willing to bet on that. This is how the U.S. operates and has done so for decades. U.S. troops are only there to further the U.S. colonial needs and nothing more. The minimal aid that those ships will bring to Gaza is only a massive PR campaign for genocide Joe's reelection. Despite that, any aid is better than none. I hope the troops remain for the long haul but I wouldn't depend on that. If Biden or Trump win the election, they very well may be told to come home. Mission accomplished. The pier dismantled or left to any local authorities to manage, as is the usual police for the U.S. As we can see, we know how that will turn out.

my comment was tongue in cheek - of course the US military would never do what I suggested. My point was to expose that by noting just how easy it would be to do the right thing (instead of "A Biden phone call could end this now" meme). And yes, of course the pier was a desperate PR stunt for Biden

Sorry to hear of your military experience - rather shocking that US military leaders allow US troops to be targets of snipers, with no push back. Totally fucked up.

Their excuse and our Rules of Engagement were dictated like this because we were only part of the overall NATO Peacekeeping force deployed to Beirut to bring peace to the city, while Hezbollah and the PLO worked out their differences. What we were really doing was something different that cost the U.S. 240 American lives and then some for nothing.

That joke of a "pier" is to be controlled by BlackWater! The contract is already written.

I am not surprised to hear that. I wonder how many millions that contract will cost the U.S. taxpayers?

I was in Karachi Pakistan the day the Embassy was overthrown and the Marines who I had been partying with the night before were all killed. I was a sailor and the very afternoon after my ship left Port that morning this happened and guess what? Jimmy Carter would not allow the embassy guard to have loaded weapons! We were also told we could not fire on anyone like when the Iraqis locked their fire control radar on us (which is an act of war) and to turn tail and run! All that changed when Reagan came to office.

Hi Terrance

Don’t forget the Amerikkkans who thought that it was their privilege to OWN people and provide them with free labor.

“Holocaust”… the REAL holocaust was the slave trade.

Expand full comment

Between what the Europeans did to the native Americans, French and Spanish colonists, slavery was just part and parcel to their ideological plan to subjugate the world in a White, Christian image. That theological plan is still prevalent amongst Christian evangelicals today. My own ancestors were considered as inferior for being Catholic or pagans and were subjugated for over 800 years. Some would say the North of Ireland is still being held down by that theory that Irish Catholics and non-Christians are still inferior to the British protestants.

Holocaust is a relative term that can be used to label multiple points in history, such as what is happening in Gaza right now. Mostly, the labels are put upon events by one group but denied by another. How many high ranking Nazis called the extermination of the Jews a holocaust? Israel is denying they are perpetrating a holocaust now. History will decide once this period of conflict has passed.

Thanks, Caitlin, for reporting the awful truth about Colonial Zionism. a thought randomly came to mind as I read about the Atlantic and similar trash MSM: This emperor has no clothes. It must continue to justify the unjustifiable because to not do so would expose that collective emperor's bare-ass skin for all to see and be revolted. Thank God (where is He?) for alternate-media journalists like Caitlin.

O Palestine, O Palestine ... Viva you, O Palestine: land, people...Hamas and ALL of Palestine!

Aaron Bushnell, my hero: Continue to Rest In Power. Your Power will manifest itself in due course...not fast enough for the babies, children and all living beings in Gaza -- and the equally Illegally Occupied West Bank -- of course....

We live in a civilization that tolerates that today in the world, according to official data, there are 879 million undernourished people, 1,761 million overweight people, 862 million obese people and that in 2024, in 147 days, they died of hunger 4, 5 million people, 30,667 per day, especially children under five years old. Plus the victims of wars, child labor and deaths at work. This is the (in)civilization we live in!

The only people who can cheerlead this slaughter and make glib excuse for Israel atrocities are those shit-for-human beings who have never experienced war firsthand and are totally lacking any shred of empathy! Load them onto a plane and drop them on Rafah! If that can't be done, rub their noses in a close-up, blown-up photograph of the girl whose "legs were so severely injured that there’s about a three-inch portion of her femur missing, giant necrotic wounds on both of her buttocks and the back of her left thigh. Maggots growing, and it is terrible,” critical care and trauma surgeon Dr. Sidhwa is reported as saying in https://scheerpost.com/2024/05/26/war-surgery-is-not-peace-surgery-an-american-doctor-in-gaza/.
