A cute “local girl makes good” story about Shayndi Raice assuming a top spot at CBS News. What’s not mentioned is that she was selected by Bari Weiss, who’s been given the keys to the CBS News car, to head all international coverage at the network after London bureau chief Claire Day clashed with Weiss over coverage of Iran and Gaza. Weiss figures better to have Zionist living in Israel to give the proper perspective.
Now for the Bette Davis “Fasten your seat belts, it’s going to be a bumpy night” moment. Glenn Greenwald did a marvelous dissection of the Weiss-Raice pas de deux here https://greenwald.substack.com/p/bari-weiss-latest-cbs-moves-show, starting at about 14:00 but worth watching from the beginning anyway. Now it’s conceivable, even quite likely, that Scott Van Voorhis pays no attention to Glenn Greenwald (similar with Dan Kennedy at Northeastern), but that doesn’t excuse him (nor Kennedy) from being oblivious to Raice’s record as a journalist, nor to the infiltration of the news media in this country by the hasbarists (indeed, it’s likely neither Voorhis nor Kennedy knows anything about hasabara, I’ve never heard them mention or write about it). Everyone seems to know about it except them. Sharp-eyed, “seek the truth and report it” journalism, eh?
How could two such well-established figures in the Boston media scene be so idolatrous of the NYT in one instance, and of a local figure going big time, oblivious to her nature as a reporter in the other, the common, undeniable denominator between the two being Israel?

For example, the article on rape in Israel was greeted by a flood of comments urging more reporting on the subject, and expressing the growing disgust at the perpetrators. The word Genocide was used freely. I find this information useful, and encouraging.
"Floods of comments" can be artificially generated by bot farms, paid trolls, or AI. A flood of comments or a billion views means nothing. Just like a news story with hundreds of stories means nothing. 1+1=2 even if a billion comments, news stories, or online political commentators say otherwise.
Why on earth would the NYTimes generate AI comments contrary to their principal editorial positions? That makes no sense. As noted, this was written as an opinion piece. The Silent Scream piece of two years ago actually was a fabrication.
Until about a year ago any comment including the word ‘genocide’ was censored, as was any mention of rape by the IDF. That’s what’s important, not the source of the comment.
