On the other, the attacks cause the citizens to rally round the flag, and moves toward religious moderation to cease. My neighbor years ago was a man who had joined the CIA in '53 and went to Iran, where he had a minor role in the coup, hiding a public official in his shower; but then, seeing what the CIA was really about he quit and went back to Vermont to be a chicken farmer. He said that Mossadegh was educating girls--but he nationalized Iran's oil so the British company that had been exploiting it put the US up to deposing him and installing the murderous Shah. So Iran was Muslim but moderate before western interference caused the hardliners to win.
The rogue US regime is in a precarious position - the very global system that the rogue US regime has established in the post war years is collapsing under the weight of it's own mismanagement, and abuse. The debt of the rogue US regime is no longer seen as safe because their currency is seen as virtually valueless due to inflation, etc. After the SpaceX debacle their markets are about to go pop.
