I agree, Feral, that there are many more like Graham et al, but I wonder how they got to be that way. Were they beaten as children? Were they given everything they wanted all the time? Did they injure animals for fun? Or was it school somehow? church? TV?
She wasn’t wrong but I’m 100% convinced there’s a sizable number of psychopaths and sociopaths who are broken right out of the box. Completely (psychopaths) or partially (sociopaths) lacking in functioning empathy centers. The old movie The Bad Seed immediately comes to mind.
These people are the ones who invariably become politicians and corporate CEOs, or garden variety mass murderers if they’re unable to plug into the upper echelon of evildoers.
I would agree with you if Americans weren't so averse to thinking and talking about childhood trauma. We have no idea what children go through and when we do acknowledge a problem, we trip over each other in the rush to blame screens and social media. The American mind is a blunt object when it comes to understanding psychology, and certainly when it comes to children and teens.
If childhood trauma were *the* cause, the third world ought to be teeming with sociopaths (not to mention, just about everyone born in prior generations).
*My* theory (see above comment) is that sociopathy, like autism, cancer and many psychiatric conditions, are in fact catch-all terms for conditions which have many causes but which have similar symptoms.
Dr. Ramani Durvasula stated that sociopaths are made and psychopaths are born, with the small difference being that the sociopath may exhibit a tiny amount of empathy, but the psychopath has absolutely none. From a witnessed account, I can tell you that the superficially charming psychopath, mixed with manipulative Machiavellianism (called Dark Triad), plays havoc on the empathetic human's mind. It results in a Stockholm Syndrome type of outcome mixed with extreme cognitive dissonance. Very scary what they can do, just with the mind. That doesn't count all the other horrific torturing, child trafficking, and murdering they are mostly responsible for.
The OT of their Buy-Bull is a perfect view into the mind of their projected god-complex, psychopathic mindset.
Yes, but what made them become that way? were they born like that? did they have greedy power mongers raising them? did they learn to be that way somewhere else? Is there a societal change that we could encourage that might prevent some of that? There are so many of them these days. And they all seem to have been born rich or they have become rich.
My opinion, A survival of the(fittest )most ruthless kind of thing. Those willing to do anything, say anything are the one who rise to the top in business, and politics. The pathological liars, charlatans, thieves that have a ' Cult of Personality ' about them. How it comes about may be environmental of family, and education, life experiences, and could be something else. Who knows for certain? However there are crimes known as " mal en se" (everyone understands they are wrong) these sociopaths excel at these crimes .
It’s too convenient to shift the blame onto a particular person, to divert attention from the very Imperialist system that breeds, enables and empowers such psychos
Malcolm X: "A fox is always more dangerous in the forest than the wolf. You can see the wolf coming. You know what he's up to. But the fox will fool you. He comes at you with his mouth shaped in such a way that even though you see his teeth, you think he's smiling and take him for a friend."
I don't think anyone is expecting a fox to replace the wolf at this moment and that's also not what this is about. The fox will return when the pendulum swings fake-left again and the D side of the same coin ostensibly is in charge again.
This is about one of those rare case where it's not a revolutionary fighting for the common good who dies but the exact opposite. One the those vile psychopathic swamp creatures enjoying and facilitating imperial death and destruction around the globe. Something good happened with a tumor like Lady G dying.
Excellent piece Caitlin! All decent people should celebrate the death of Lindsey Graham, one of the worst human beings who ever walked on planet Earth. He was a traitor to our Country, a political whore who was bribed by Israel to put Israeli interests ahead of US interests, and a terrible person who lacked even a gossamer of decency. Death to Lindsey! Death to Israel! Free Palestine! Free Lebanon! Free the West Bank! Free Syria!
Really. An entire country showed up to mourn the death of Khamenei. Warmonger Lindsey just got a bunch of ol' white dudes who love killing people to show up for him. Doesn't compare well at all.
As with Netanyahu, I ask this question: is his sole attribute that of biodegradability, thus of some value as human compost upon death, or are even his remains to be roped off, considered as hazardous waste, like the rest of his being?
Graham colluding with Netanyahu to assemble a bi-partisan group to denounce the ICC? The Democrats are hoping that we don't recall the 40 standing ovations they gave Netanyahu along with their Brothers in Arms. Both parties grovel to The Master.
I seem to be celebrating people's deaths more than in my younger days. But most of them have been politicians like Dianne Feinstein or Lindsey Graham. I'm a bit uncomfortable with my new habit, I find it a bit unseemly and judgmental. I mean, my turn will come soon enough. Though in 100 to 200 years, who will remember any of this anyway?
Don't be so hard on yourself. You and Graham both share mortality, but you can't be anywhere near as evil as he was. And the judgement he gets around here after his death, he earned in life.
As for me, discomfort I feel in celebrating his death--which I am--comes from the seeming futility of it all. As many others have pointed out, there's no shortage of other evil people still out there.
If humans can remember anything in 100 years, it means that they will still exist. From what has prevailed so far, that would be a miracle, and then some.
These mofos should be playing with toy soldiers on a rug somewhere. The mentality of toddlers vying for dominance in a nursery school hierarchy, while engulfing the planet in wars.
Indeed, what a fabulous riddance! I celebrated his funeral (“celebration of death”, I call it) with silent joy. As you pointed out, “…warmonger lived a shorter life than such creatures often do”. How true that is. Kissinger comes to mind immediately
Maybe Trump will have a stroke and drop dead from his diet of McDonald’s poison? But they’ll just replace him with another warmonger from the Uniparty blob in D.C.
The problem is that there are so many more like Graham, Team D as well as Team R.
Malcolm X's words about the glib and friendly seeming fox being more dangerous than the cartoonish wolf come prominently to mind.
Which is why I am grateful for Caitlin’s use of the phrase bootlicking empire simp. Works well directed at both foxes and wolves.
I agree, Feral, that there are many more like Graham et al, but I wonder how they got to be that way. Were they beaten as children? Were they given everything they wanted all the time? Did they injure animals for fun? Or was it school somehow? church? TV?
The question of where sociopaths come from is not resolved, AFAIK.
Alice Miller had a pretty good idea.

However, i claim no special expertise.
The American mind is indeed a blunt object. Not sharp at all.

I wonder seriuosly if some are born absent a soul--a birth defect of major proportions.
I have heard a variety of theories. Most of them tell us more about the person who made the theory.
I think that for most, they were simply born psychopaths.
Neuter feral bureaucrats and warmongers.
We will never know the full story . But we do know that Greed, and Hate, played a role with bribery and a lust for power.
Yes, but what made them become that way? were they born like that? did they have greedy power mongers raising them? did they learn to be that way somewhere else? "were they born like that? " See my comment about about missing souls.

Tucker Carlson said Graham was charming when just hanging out with him--or something to that effect.
Many psychopaths are. Women who were in the presence of Ted Bundy said the same of him.
Yuk.
Exactly.

Look at the humans here who insist that everything would be different if only Team D were in charge.

Good summary of the son of a bitch!
I left out the most important part of my message - Free the United States of America from Israeli influence!
Striking to see the difference between the memorial of this disgusting demon’s death and that of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Really. An entire country showed up to mourn the death of Khamenei. Warmonger Lindsey just got a bunch of ol' white dudes who love killing people to show up for him. Doesn't compare well at all.
Yeah, and none of those who showed up for Lindsey were human.
Oh, they are very human all right....
Well, inhumane -- at best -- humans.
Klingons maybe?
Oh, no, no ... Klingons were never as bad and greasy as Lindsey, Little Mitch and Donald the Dunderhead.
The world is a little bit better for his passing. There's still a lot of evil out there, but at least he's gone.
The only good war pig is a dead war pig.
Ha Ha charade they are.
Graham's death means that Hell just got a bit more crowded and the morality of the planet edged up a bit.
As with Netanyahu, I ask this question: is his sole attribute that of biodegradability, thus of some value as human compost upon death, or are even his remains to be roped off, considered as hazardous waste, like the rest of his being?

Thanks of reminding us of that.

I get you. Same here, more or less.
We're judging him (them) on how they treated/respected humanity. And how their absence will make this place just a bit better with their departure.
Don't be so hard on yourself. You and Graham both share mortality, but you can't be anywhere near as evil as he was. And the judgement he gets around here after his death, he earned in life.

The shame is that there are so many evil creatures in this world who's deaths are worthy of celebrating.

He was a monster through and through. The world is a slightly better place now.
These mofos should be playing with toy soldiers on a rug somewhere. The mentality of toddlers vying for dominance in a nursery school hierarchy, while engulfing the planet in wars.
‘Lord of the rings’ syndrome is alive and well.
JRR Tolkien was a devout Christian - ironicalyyy enuf. Just say'n.

did they expect us to treat them with any respect?

Lpl
If you haven't, go ahead and say it again!
Better 1 from illness or whatever felled him, than the many this warmonger would have killed in the future.
Lindsay Graham lived 71 years too long!!
Maybe Trump will have a stroke and drop dead from his diet of McDonald’s poison? But they’ll just replace him with another warmonger from the Uniparty blob in D.C.
They've got warehouses of "replacements". Lol
Perhaps even Lady G's sister who I heard plans to run for a full term may honor her bro with the same killer mindset. 🤮
“They’ve got warehouses full of replacements”…. More like ‘We’ve’ got……
“They will replace him”? Not quite. More like ‘We’ will replace him.
Thank you Caitlyn for this article. The news was a great relief that the world was one less horrific war monger❗️
Caitlin, Good on you! You write succinctly, speaking ill of the dead!
Wasn't it funny three warmongers - Trump, Netanyahu and Zelensky - getting together to eulogise at another warmonger's funeral.
And Stubb!
