Wonderful poem. And, so much more powerful than Billionaire and George W. Bush Lover, Bono:

“It was a festival of music and peace,” Bono told the audience. “A festival of music and peace. Can you imagine?”

Bono changed some of the lyrics of their song to reflect the tragedy.

“Early morning, October 7th,” he sang. “The sun is rising in the desert sky / Stars of David, they took your life / But they could not take your pride.”

“Pride (In the Name of Love)” originally paid tribute to Martin Luther King Jr. and referenced his assassination on April 4, 1968 at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee.

Roger Waters, a loud and consistent critic of Israel, has thoughts on Bono's salute to the victims of the October 7 attack on the Supernova music festival by Hamas.

Waters describes Bono's tribute, which took place during one of U2's residency shows at the Sphere in Las Vegas, as "disgusting" while labeling Bono "an enormous shit."

The comments that incensed Pink Floyd's former mastermind arrived before U2 launched into "Pride (In the Name of Love)" back in October.

"In the light of what's happened in Israel and Gaza, a song about non-violence seems somewhat ridiculous, even laughable, but our prayers have always been for peace and for non-violence," Bono told the crowd. "But our hearts and our anger, you know where that's pointed. So sing with us … and those beautiful kids at that music festival."

"We have to start saying to these people, your opinion is so disgusting and so degrading … sticking up for the Zionist entity," Waters added. "What he did a couple of weeks ago in the Sphere in Las Vegas, singing about the Stars of David, was one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen in my life."

Waters knows people like Bono simply hadn't done enough research on the matter. "My mother told me, when faced with difficult problems, the first thing to do is to read — read, read, read," Waters said. "Then, the next part is easy: Do the right thing."

Say, Gaza by Linda Backiel (Feb 01, 2022)

He is turned, slightly,

just a boy, in his own home.

Say, Gaza.

Someone took a photograph

in the ruin of what was

his life. Black and white. Sharp

shadows. Light falls on what is not

exercising its own right of return;

picture a bad dream. His city. A fringe

clinging to the sea. A window open. No,

broken. At first, you don’t see it. You

don’t want to. You say “rubble.” But

there is a bomb in the bed.

The bed is broken by the bomb,

much bigger than the bed.

Don’t worry, no blood. But

there is a boy in the room

with the bomb in the bed.

The bed, a broken V, sunk

across the middle. Sheets rumpled,

not from sleeping.

The boy wonders where

will he sleep? When

will it explode?

His home, a fringe

clinging to the sea.

Say, Gaza.

Bono has gone from Bono to Bonehead. I abandoned them after the release of rattle and hum. I have to wonder if they sold out or were threatened out of radical views. Or is he just a good Christian follower helping to bring about the rapture to save his own hypocritical ass. Someone should remind him "It's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter heaven".

Waters was on the mark with his comments and ended up being called a Nazi and disgraced. Has Bonehead retracted his statement? Has he been disgraced in the media? He'll throw a few bags of rice and paper towels somewhere to some starving people, call it a day and increase his record sales.

Were you aware of how suspicious the relocation of the Rave Party was? The Rave Party that was held just 3 miles from the walls of Gaza.

From Haaretz, Israel's "paper of record"

https://archive.is/9msVK

Headline: "IDF Allowed Rave Later Attacked by Hamas Despite Key Officer's Concern"

"The Gaza Division's operations officer, Lt. Col. Sahar Fogel, opposed the Nova rave taking place on October 7 near the border with Gaza, arguing that it was a needless security risk.

Furthermore, his objection was seconded by other officers, both at the Gaza Division and at the Southern Command headquarters. But in a conversation with the IDF's operations division, he was instructed to approve the event."

"During the days preceding the massacre, the system had received warnings that Hamas would try to attack on Israeli soil. The information was based on several sources who noticed alarming preparations by Hamas personnel, as well as intelligence that raised the concern growing among various security figures.

Haaretz has not been able to verify whether Lt. Col. Fogel was aware of this intelligence, or whether his opposition to the event was related to it.

Then came Oct. 7. Hours before the terror attack, the security establishment received signs and warnings leading to its decision to prepare – if only partially – for a terrorist incursion. But no IDF officer updated the thousands of revelers or the rave organizers of the fear of an attack, or demanded that they break up the party and leave the area."

Recall that Israel had been in possession of Hamas' detailed plans for Oct 7th and they had it nearly a full year before Oct 7th. Detailed. Israel knew the Rave was in the danger zone, but the Rave was relocated to within 3 miles of the Gaza wall. People in Gaza could hear the Rave taking place.

And this was taking place with diminished troop levels. Israel had recently temporarily moved the majority of it's forces around Gaza to the West Bank.

-------------

Haaretz continued:

"In private conversations, some officers in the Gaza Division told of irregular conduct and pressure surrounding the approval of the party [Rave],"

-------------

Israel was in possession of Hamas' *detailed* plan for Oct 7th a year in advance.

Israel removed the majority of it's forces around Gaza just prior to Oct 7th.

Plus! Israel's own intelligence officers were warning -- in writing -- that they believed an attack was imminent.

It was hours before the IDF arrived in force after the Hamas jail break, Israel refuses to explain why.

But even before the arrival in force of the IDF Israel had implemented the Hannabal Directive.

https://thegrayzone.com/2023/11/21/haaretz-grayzone-conspiracy-israeli-festivalgoers/

If the world community saw that all the slaughter that Israel tries to justify because of Oct 7th

was the result of a treacherous scheme from Israeli leaders then Israel would be the pariah state it earned.

If Israelis themselves knew! **If they knew! and accepted!**, that their sons and daughters died on Oct 7th because of the treason of your leaders it would change Israel forever.

Expand full comment

Well it makes sense that the party was moved closer to the Gaza concentration camp after we learned that Israel had Hamas' plan for a year and that Bibi was warned not only by 3 countries, but his own border patrol. And remember that Bibi moved his forces to the West Bank and it took hours for them to get back to the area.

I’ve read that Hamas wasn’t aware of the party until they got to it.

I think Israel knew about the attack and let it happen so they could finish their genocide once and for all. Reminds me of when the most restricted airspace in the country was free of jets while hijacked planes flew for hours.

Thanks for posting the link to the archived Haaretz article. I had seen people referring to it in the past but I hadn’t seen the actual article before.

One thing that is implied in the text but isn’t stated explicitly is that “Supernova: Universo Paralello” was originally going to be held at a different venue much further away from the Gaza fence, but the venue was changed only a few days beforehand to the campground used on the previous night by a different festival organiser (the “Unity” party mentioned in the article). Have you seen any information on why “Supernova” was moved at such short notice?

Expand full comment

I searched for information about why the Supernova was moved **and exactly from where**. Lots of people seem to be searching for this information and it does not appear to be available. The news media is seemingly disinterested in these questions.

In searching I was surprised at how many people are suspicious of the whole thing.

It's so good to know that others can see what I saw on Oct 7. The organisers had all of Israel to hold their party, but the whole event was intended to taunt and humiliate Palestinians.

They were getting pissed and mooning Palestine.

Expand full comment

Or, perhaps, they never even thought about them at all.

Expand full comment

Sorry but that idea beggars belief. Poll after poll has shown that the great majority of Israelis support the assault on Gaza.

They knew exactly what they were doing and it was intentional.

Expand full comment

What? Have you bothered to read or listen to people who understand intimately the general mindset of the Israeli population? If you had bothered, you would see an abundance of evidence that most Israelis, prior to 7 October, never thought about Gaza or the 2.3 million people locked up in a concentration camp for their entire lives. The simple explanation for the psychology of Israelis is that Gaza didn’t exist. It was expunged from their collective consciousness.

If we had a collective conscience, we would not collectively be facing 15,000 nuclear bombs that threaten our existence 24/7. The U.S.A has yet to apologize for dropping two nuclear bombs on Japan almost 80 years ago. Moreover, it now has an arsenal of approx. 6,000 bombs, each as much as 1,000 times more powerful than those dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. By the way, the U.S.A. is a democracy, so to speak, and so from my perspective, the U.S. population has no collective conscience as to what happens when the shtf. You might disagree and think that we do have a collective conscience, but don't look up if or when one of those firecrackers comes home to roost.

Devastating. I can hear the awful music! (Make it stop!)

Dr. Finkelstein points out (Al Jazeera interview) that the young people are still coming out, singing and chanting, all over the world; and there's this difference: in the movement for Civil Rights, we sang and chanted all the way to and inside of jail for our rights as human beings. Now young people are singing and chanting for the dignity and human rights of people in a concentration camp on the other side of the world. And they're blocking traffic at the corporate headquarters of the masters-of-war. Times are a-definitely a-changing.
