So-called 'Mainstream outlets' have been water carriers for the Zionists spanning decades. This is certainly 'more of the same' in one sense, but given the Appallingly Open & Vile nature of the so-called 'Jewish State's' Crimes this time around, this will be the sort of Death Blow from which MSM (having what little minuscular credibility it had remaining) truly can never recover.

Expand full comment

What makes it effective is these death blows have come in quick succession since 2020. From covid to Ukraine and now Gaza. The lies have unraveled like gift wrap on Christmas morning. As stated, the tide is turning one pair of eyes at a time and on good days, several. It still feels slow because children keep getting killed every day. But we must keen at it because the tipping point is fast approaching.

I remember many years ago it was UNHEARD of to even hint of criticizing Israel...we have come a long way even if it does not quite feel like it.. An antisemitism smear was like Kryptonite to most people then and now its water off a ducks back.. So its changing has been changing but the algorithms of google YouTube are tightening the censorship screws down harder too. Even Elon X is censoring still...

Government is frantically trying to cook up policy that does not appear as full out Fascism as it is to quell the growing awareness.. I noticed MSM media giants are doing a lot more local interest stories to stop them hemorrhaging watches and readers.. while alternatives media has a higher viewership even with massive amounts of suppression and active demonizing.. and then we have the grubby little Zionist hasbara trolls that come on here and try and poison the well

Yes, Dr.Who, it is a race between the world waking up BEFORE the US or Israel start to use nuclear warheads . Too late then.

I don't there's one chance of the world waking up in time, personally. The little Military puppets like Biden is so under the control of his Zionists public service and political class that they probably decide what he has for breakfast.

All very well to have an on-again-off-again organisation such as The Guardian to all of a sudden start to offer stories like today's effort, but their past record is not unblemished. Remember their treatment of Julian Assange? It is one reason why he is where he is today.

I certainly do.

Let's wait and see if this CNN disclosure is the trigger for any other truth telling publications in this now totally corrupted industry to finally wake to the damage they have caused.

But as I said, the boat may have sailed with Netanyahu as its Captain and Biden stoking the engine.

Chaz, a real question I've been pondering & wanting to ask for a long time: How is it that sometimes you seem quite erudite & can compose clear sentences that express real & interesting thoughts but can hardly manage to spell an English word?

This comment is a prime example. As you see, there are neither likes nor replies, bc blood liadle is incomprehensible. At least to me. Even though the other mistakes are comprehensible. Can you (or some other kind soul) please enlighten me?

Plenty of my mangled pros get likes .. And if people get hung up on petty spelling and grammar mistakes to not only fail to comprehend but then not like a comment for it I dont want their likes or opinion...so it works out..

The other thing not understood about American education is it's nothing but obedience training ..memorize dates and times and worry about petty errors is a way to condition people to memorize and repeat and get used to not thinking for themselves. Hyperfocus on petty error and drawing between the lines and never deviate..

And that's why we have so many mindlessly compliant sheep as a public.

First off when I'm typing on a smartphone I have big wide FINGERS with blunt tips, that I often hit wrong keys but if I pause and fix every wrong letter I lose my train of thought. "smart" phone seems to be designed for teenage girls with spindly pointy accusing little fingers to fight over who will take them to the prom. Not a grown man.

Second.. This substack cell phone system stalls jumps and glitches repeatedly.

Thirdly, spell check is an asshole. Changes words before I notice it has ..type "in" it changes to "on" type "on" it says "in".. take that up with them!. have not fixed it in years like they don't even use it themselves the passive aggressive douches..

Forth I have mild dyslexia and struggle to string words together when my mind is racing . My daughter has it too..

I often forget to proof read or care to before I hit send in the heat of the moment .

I also had trouble in school with memorizing what to me was an English language that made no sense. (Not to my logical defiant mind)

I ended up spelling things phonetically and got into some bad habits I still struggle with to this day . People chalk it up to some higharch fallacy idea it's a lack of education , and yet I can honestly tell you how every keystroke you make gets to another's screen every step of the way down to molecular levels and that's no brag.

Lastly I'll say some of the most prolific and accomplished writers in history had been bad spellers ..oh and one last thing ..go read the book the professor and the madman it's better than the film..

The English language dictionary was compiled by a mad man in a nut house and he got most of it from shakespeare who made shit up all the time.

I know for people who are so exacting about errors that seem to block their ability to understand no matter how petty is a thing I'll apologize for any distress I may have caused in your ability to comprehend.

The sad thing for me and my disgust in the traditional cultural conditioning is being dismissed for an opinion just because of it. but that's a tactic a lot of duplicitous people tend to favor when they can catch me in a chink in my armor and exploit it when they don't like what i say.

Updated to fix the errors!

With all eyes focused on Gaza the West Bank and the atrocities going on there are rather ignored which is understandable on some level. Israel is actually taking advantage of this and more killings, more destruction is going on there. How low will they go?

"Since then(Oct 7), the UN has verified the deaths of at least 300 Palestinians in the West Bank, including 79 children, the report said. Of these, 291 were killed by Israeli forces, eight by settlers and one was killed by either soldiers or settlers.

Nearly 4,800 Palestinians have been arrested since the war on Gaza began.

The same is true with the CBC in Canada. As our state owned broadcaster it was once a revered institution now completely gone to hell! Additionally our corporate MSM receives government subsidies so the conspiracy of silence is replete.

We are an unconscious civilization incapable of addressing the momentous issues that destroy us.

It is laughable to hear the charge of malpractice when it has been going on for decades .

""If once [the people] become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress and Assemblies, Judges and Governors, shall all become wolves. It seems to be the law of our general nature, in spite of individual exceptions." -- Thomas Jefferson to Edward Carrington, 1787

Let me also add a comment from British Historian about The Guardian, during its disgusting treatment of Julian Assange after using all his material for years to bolster their readership.......

Mark Curtis, British historian (@markcurtis30)

Guardian is running a smear campaign against J.Assange, falsely linking him/Wikileaks to the Kremlin. . Don’t fall for it: Guardian is playing a particular role in service of the state. Guilty by innuendo: the Guardian campaign against Julian Assange that breaks all the rules.

That started a worldwide campaign of "Dump the Guardian" and so many people have done so.

So not only in Canada are the media owners exploiting the lies from the major "news" suppliers like Reuters and AAP but so are the once truthful journalists, independent or otherwise, now owned, lock, stock and barrel by their corrupt media owners.

Until we see a universal change in that climate, we will never see the changes needed for truth in reporting.

The irony is that the major reason those places and people were having evil paramilitaries was because the School of the Americas trained them for their own purposes and that is STILL being done.

Well you know there is so much more "entertainment" that comes from our government and it's partners. I once watched a beer commercial with the sound off, it was Half Time, and I was shocked by what I saw happening in the commercial. Sexual harassment and violence in a bar, so quick it was there and then not, I could hardly believe my eyes.

Sad to hear that CBC is (apparently) as bad as NPR and PBS in the U.S. They were once, to a degree at least, trustworthy in their reporting; or so I thought (naively?), perhaps some 20+ years ago. I thought US public media began to really get bad after Reagan & Co. went after public media, gutting financial support, and NPR & PBS decided to increase their take from corporate sources and other concentrated capital. However, with corporate control over government near complete, they would have gotten just as bad if not worse by now anyway. Today, the public media of the U.S., UK, and perhaps Canada function primarily as amplifiers for the voices inside their power establishments; 'manufacturing consent' (Chomsky, Bernays) for imperial plans and wars. Some friends/ acquaintances now refer to many of the liberals who've been led to believe that they're somehow getting objective reporting, as "NPR liberals".

Expand full comment

Be careful! The CBC in Ottawa has done some remarkably good reporting on local issues, where developers have too much influence on other media.

Expand full comment

That's the essence of the problem. Canadian media are really good at covering local issues because they are "safe" issues. If you want accurate international news and opinion you have to go outside our borders. The US has a strong alternative media willing to speak truth to power, not true in Canada where the honest brokers are few and far between.

Canada has become a parochial colonized country irrelevant to the world community. If you follow the media more closely you will see we don't even have a competent foreign policy.

Expand full comment

Reporting correctly on local issues is not just because of "safety" but because lying on them is much more easily discoverable, both because:

- issues are local literally, geographically

- more people are reading them as opposed to national, let alone international

Hamas's Oct 7th plan, Izrael had it in their possession for a year.

---

"This item of intelligence reporting was disseminated to everybody. Nobody in the IDF or     elsewhere, including the political policymakers, can claim that they were not familiar with it."

---

Memorize these five:

1) The full Izraeli leadership, military, intelligence and political, were given Hamas' Oct 7th jail break plan as much as a year in advance.

2) The decision up and down the military/intelligence chain of command was made to stop monitoring Hamas' tactical radio network months before Oct 7th.

3) The majority of IDF forces around the Gaza border were temporarily moved to the West Bank just prior to Oct 7th

4) Support troops did not arrive in force to repel Hamas for several hours.

5) The Hannibal Doctrine was implemented which accounted for many if not most of the casualties.

---

"In 2022, Israel received an absolute gem of an intelligence report, a document written by Hamas     entitled 'The Plan for Defeating the IDF Gaza Division.'

This intelligence reporting, brought by Unit 8200, was a genuine gold mine, it contained everything:     the IDF's deployment (with a chilling level of detail)

and the methods of contending with it, how to breach the border obstacle and to carry out the     attack, as well as the targets and objectives during the attack and thereafter.

This item of intelligence reporting was disseminated to everybody. Nobody in the IDF or elsewhere,     including the political policymakers, can claim that they were not familiar with it.

And if they were not aware of it, then that too bears witness to negligence, as this was no ordinary     gem but a real game-changer, which should have led to one of the following two courses of action:

a profound change of thought to cancel the underlying approach that Hamas is deterred and seeks     peace and quiet, or a series of steps to refute the golden item of intelligence reporting so that it

would be possible to continue to adhere to the existing conception.

Of course, none of these options materialized."

---

https://www.israelhayom.com/2023/12/04/israel-had-a-slum-dunk-intelligence-on-the-oct-7-attack-what-went-wrong/

---

"The responsibility of Unit 8200 does not end here. In the months leading up to the attack, real-time     monitoring of the tactical communication of Hamas operatives on their radios was halted.

Had they been monitored, at the very least Israeli intelligence would have had time to deploy forces     and mitigate the scale of the invasion."

---

https://www.israelhayom.com/2023/11/23/unit-8200-could-have-save-israel-from-oct-7-why-hasnt-it-owned-up-to-its-failure/

The December 04 article (same author) repeats this with:

---

"and above all failed to restore a number of sub-units that had been closed down during his tenure.     These are sections within 8200 that could have provided an important input in the effort to provide     what the intelligence community refers to as I&W (indications and warnings), such as the tactical     communications (hand-held radios) section and the open source intelligence (OSINT) section."

---

A foundation of Izrael's cover up is that they

are blaming Hamas for fooling them.

This cover up does not stand up to examination, which is key! Their cover up collapses.

---

JPost:

"They and five IDF chiefs-of-staff, several defense ministers and IDF Intelligence chiefs, four Shin Bet     (Israel Security Agency) directors and many others, all held the same mistaken concept that Hamas     could be contained, deterred, and kept in check by a mix of economic incentives and occasional     rounds of airstrikes."

---

But they knew differently, they had it spelled out in writing, it was a Hamas tactic to lull the Izraelis into complacency.

They knew. All of them. Up and down the political/military/intelligence chain of command they had the Hamas Oct 7th manual, their plan, for a year.

They knew.

JPost:

---

"The manual also described a strategy to lull Israel into complacency by holding negotiations for     some form of long-term arrangement with Hamas, while at the same time staging frequent drills     and carrying out small security incidents on the border on Saturdays and Jewish holidays to lull the     IDF into a false sense of security when Hamas forces turned up en masse at the border fence."

---

So, to the five found at the top I would add a sixth to memorize.

1) The full Izraeli leadership, military, intelligence and political, were given Hamas' Oct 7th jail break plan as much as a year in advance.

2) They knew Hamas Oct 7th jail break plan included the strategy of lulling Izrael into a false sense of security. Izrael had Hamas' strategy in black and white a year ahead of time.

3) The decision up and down the military/intelligence chain of command was made to stop monitoring Hamas' tactical radio network months before Oct 7th.

4) The majority of IDF forces around the Gaza border were temporarily moved to the West Bank just prior to Oct 7th

5) Support troops did not arrive in force to repel Hamas for several hours.

6) The Hannibal Doctrine was implemented which accounted for many if not most of the casualties.

Maybe we'll have to go back to secretively distributing paper leaflets or setting up pirate radio stations!

Expand full comment

I'll have to look into "Council Estate and "The Breach". As to Jacobin- I've found them maddeningly inconsistent; sometimes very progressive and anti-imperialist but at other times echoing the narratives of the Washington / NATO neocons. Similarly, The Intercept (which I once adored when Glenn Greenwald wrote for it), and even CounterPunch; which hosts at least a couple of writers who're also at times appear to be informed primarily by imperial narratives about Russia, for example.

I acknowledge that a) no single person or outlet has a lock on the truth (including me, of course!, though I try to speak only after deep study & logical analysis); and b) institutions are both subject to change and therefore to inconsistencies. Once-reliable publications get bought out or otherwise brought to heel such as to become 'controlled opposition'... there's a long list of such.

On the other hand, I've found consistency in a few outlets (e.g. Consortium News, The Grayzone, Scheerpost, and to a lesser extent, Common Dreams) and a number of independent writers (Caitlin, Norman Finkelstein, Greenwald, Victor Grossman (writing from Berlin), Hedges, Seymour Hersh, Diana Johnstone, Patrick Lawrence, Abby Martin, Aaron Mate’, Matt Taibbi , for example). I personally subscribe and donate to probably a dozen or more different writers and outlets. However, realizing how i must divide my contributions and that likely others like me are in the same boat, I wonder at how much the aggregate of honest / principled journalists can expand while still making an adequate living, realizing that the system will also increase its efforts to de-monetize and otherwise limit their reach.
