Gotta add racism to genocide, war, and nuclear brinkmanship. Whether it was intentional or not, his personal investment in all that Clinton era "crime" legislation put an entire generation of Black men behind bars.

unwarranted's avatar

Of course it was intentional. He advertised his ability to compromise with documented racists like Strom Thurmond and Robert Byrd. And when the extremist Clarence Thomas was nominated for the Supreme Court, he oversaw the unconscionable sliming of Anita Hill, and shut down an investigation into her claims against Thomas.

Vin LoPresti's avatar

Thanks. My comment definitely needed supplementation.

JennyStokes's avatar

I remember that and was truly horrified.

Racism is endemic to US foreign policy.

The fact that Hillary Clinton is teaching at Columbia University is an utter disgrace and it is encouraging that some students are saying so. That war criminals walk the street is deplorable; that they get to teach in Universities is despicable. So where is her PhD and record of academic achievement.

blackbird's avatar

and what does she "teach" ? just curious .

Robert Billyard's avatar

She is teaching international relations.

And many more behind bars to come esp. for both black and brown communities - they've been building more private for profit prisons all these last years as well as ICE indefinite detention facilities and training police in military tactics in "COP Cities" with the help of IDF expertise on controlling unwanted populations. And for slave labor.

JennyStokes's avatar

I think the USA has the largest Prison system in the world and still had the Death Penalty in some states!

Got to keep those Private Prisons going!

Always the bottom line rules. Always, US politicians comply with that "golden rule".

Granted, 1st amendment takes priority. But Joe's sociological bent underpinned a disdain for writing careful legislation that didn't penalize working class folks -- of all derivations -- from getting trampled on by the legal system, Black men over-represented in the lower economic strata and therefore also in the legal tangles of those shitty laws. Ergo, Joe exhibited his scumbag carelessness as a political mediocrity for his supposed constituency, the Dems back then really thumping the "party of working people" drum. It's not simple, but any way you slice it, Joe's attitude toward people made him ill-qualified to represent them as a senator; to then see the mediocrity become president gave me frickin' tremendous heartburn.

You made your point, and I just told you I'm also a first amendment absolutist -- not much else left to defend in this country. So you do not need to preach to me. Thank you.

Joseph R. Biden will be written up in the history books as a warmongering, genocidal maniac, blithering idiot who plagiarized his papers in college and ran several times unsuccessfully for president only to be finally installed so Bernie Sanders couldn't get the nomination and pull the DNC slightly toward the center rather than to the right. Rest in pieces, Genocide Joe!

Peter Sawchuk's avatar

Unfortunately, short of the U.S. being over run by a foreign power, it will never happen. Remember they are the ones who write the history and most of Western history so far is complete and utter bullshit. The only way that truth will come into the history books is if this is what happens. The worst part of this is they'd rather have a nuclear holocaust than allow that to happen. If this is the case there will be no one left to write the history.

Chang Chokaski's avatar

>>"Joseph R. Biden will be written up in the history books as a warmongering, genocidal maniac"

I only wish this truly happens - though knowing America's habit of revisionist history (and awarding Nobel Peace Prizes to War Criminals), I have my doubts.

The Revolution Continues's avatar

Me too, but in a hypothetical "perfect world" perhaps? Sigh.

Gnuneo's avatar

It was a good article - until they reached "40,000 Palestinians". No matter who writes or how noble, to limit the deaths in Gaza to the already total 3 months in, after 3x that in long savage genocide is just unbearable. I DON'T CARE that the exact figures are unknown, fucking accurately GUESS. it is well over 200,000, that is for sure.

"The Israelis will be unhappy with us if we say more than 40,000!!".

That is literally what I see when these writers say 40,000, when every single day there has been massacres of hundreds.

Edijal Lowley's avatar

It must be well over 300,000 if you factor-in the injured who died in horrible agony, despair and loneliness underneath the rubble and in makeshift hospital tents without medicines and anaesthetics. The horror of that keeps me awake. The ultra apartheid state has killed with pure glee and hatred!

Gnuneo's avatar

Yes, I agree completely.

What an indictment of Western 'civilisation'.

It's no longer hard for me to imagine the British empire alone killed up to 200,000,000 during its global reign of terror - and the "elites" planned the entire thing.

Or that they would do the same to us, normal Western populations, in an eyeblink.

Indu Abeysekara's avatar

Thanks Gnuneo for highlighting how the terrible death count of the Palestinian people is kept hovering at the 40,000 mark. The Israeli carnage goes on yet the number of murdered human beings remains the same.

Ralph Nader has estimated it as closer to 200,000.

Not only can they - the Western media - not count, wilfully I might add, the world watches on...... the extermination of a people.

David Quinly's avatar

Similarly, in Vietnam, USA owned 2 million murders of people who never attacked or threatened it when credible estimates put the numbers at 7 or 8 million. That would put

the USA in league with Netanyhitler's hero and mentor.

JennyStokes's avatar

Indu. This was some time back. 200,000 more I think.

Indu Abeysekara's avatar

Thanks Jenny. Yes, sadly it must be more by now.

Palestine Will Be Free's avatar

Mea culpa. In my defence, this was written before the Lancet report gave a small window into the extent of the horrors in Gaza. I have consistently maintained and writtwn in subsequent articles on my Substack that at least over a quarter million Palestinians have been slaughtered since October 7.

boy is that the truth. And yet people are crying over harris losing. Bizarro world.

David Baird's avatar

Their crying over Harris losing to Rex Tillerson's 'fucking moron' is down to it being a matter of degree. Biden was unarguably a truly awful failure in so many ways and Harris was all part of the last four years. tRump is simply even more awful and even more dangerous and that's the bottom line. The added distaste we feel for the demented, soulless, vindictive prick is that he'll take an extremely flawed 'democracy' and gradually pull what's left of it apart. His billionaire mates will further prosper and tRump will bask in the glory of their success. The hoi polloi among his voters can whistle Dixie if they think things will improve for them and the fact he wants Netanyahu to 'finish the job' in Gaza apparently bothers them not a jot. A more than somewhat deranged Bobby Kennedy Jr ain't gonna help in a pandemic, or in women's reproductive rights. It's going to be wild ride, all right and he's barely started.

Caitlin has written Joe Biden's epitaph - a very fitting one.

All US Presidents are war criminals, but he most of all paved the way for a second coming of a Trump. Just imagine he could have redeemed himself somewhat if in his last days at the White House, he stopped arming Israel.

Susan T's avatar

He would never stop arming Israel. He declared himself to be a Zionist many years ago. He and Netanyahu are birds of a feather. The more I learn about him, the more I realize how he has bamboozled the American people and the rest of the "democratic" world. Trump is horrible but at least it is right there and obvious. He doesn't hide behind soft spoken words and a kind old man smile.

Indu Abeysekara's avatar

Exactly Susan T! What you see is what you get... but I dearly wish that he wouldn't expose his crudity for the whole world to see.

And Democrats will continue to pretend that all of this isn't blatantly obvious. They act like the reelection of Trump is shocking when they actually managed to give us a President that made Trump look good by comparison.

CATHERINE's avatar

I disagree.

Nothing can make Trump look good.

I have observed Trump for 10 years now.

Thousands of hours.

For anything that he has said or done that is truthful, useful, good, or ethical.

There are tens of thousands of lies, ad hominem attacks, cheap manipulations, all manner of evils.

Trump is a flaming, malignant narcissist.

The worst that I have ever observed.

And that is WITH all the damage control.

Kamala, by comparison:

The Lesser of Two Evils.

By (arguably) several orders of magnitude.

After all, like Trump, she is a Zionist.....

Too bad the voters lack this discernment. :|

I think, over the long haul, we would all be better off via Kamala.

IMHO.

Project 2025 is treason.

Brucker's avatar

As a person, Trump is horrible without compare. However comparing what Trump did in four years as President to what Biden did? Biden was worse.

As for Harris, she was asked what she would have done differently in the last four years, and had no answer. That's why voters didn't show up for her.

CATHERINE's avatar

Biden's handling of the COVID Scam was negligent. Forced vax, toxic and lethal approved remedies, heavy censorship.

People lost their jobs, homes, lives.

I know 15 people dead.

FROM THE JABS.

One guy dead from the Advertised Contagion.

True,

Biden was, in some ways, very, very bad.

That is what I think.

What do you think Biden did that was worse? :)

Brucker's avatar

The government didn't force anyone to take the vaccine, with the possible exception of military personnel; why do antivaxxers keep saying this?

That being said, I do think Biden handled COVID very poorly, particularly in acting like the vaccine meant the end of the pandemic. While the vaccine was helpful (I got one, but never bothered with a booster since I got COVID anyway), the virus had already mutated to the point of being vaccine resistant. This was a known fact by health officials, but the Biden administration gave misleading information. Also under Biden, the CDC lowered the quarantine time from ten days to five days, not based on any science, but based on a request from Delta Airlines' CEO.

The main things I take issue with the Biden administration over are as follows:

1. Leading up to the invasion of Ukraine, Biden was shipping billions of dollars in weapons to Russia's border, and everyone was saying Biden was going to provoke Russia into doing something ugly. Russia invading Ukraine was exactly what Biden wanted: a proxy war to make Russia look bad and exhaust their resources without commitment of American troops. When Ukraine was willing to start peace talks, Biden talked them out of it. Biden wants war in Ukraine. (He apparently also wants one in Taiwan, as we are shipping weapons there, despite the US not even recognizing Taiwan as an independent nation. This would be like China shipping weapons to Hawaii.)

2. Inflation was out of control these last four years. It wasn't a problem with the economy that Biden created, but was rather price gouging by greedy corporations. Yes, Biden didn't cause it, but he also didn't do anything to fight it.

3. The Supreme Court overturned Roe vs. Wade, and while this was due to Trump stacking the Court, Biden didn't do anything whatsoever to respond to the crisis. Democrats could have killed the filibuster and pushed through a law protecting reproductive rights. Biden could have expanded the Court, as was done before in history. NOTHING was done.

4. Biden, who Democrats keep calling "the most pro-union President ever," broke the railroad workers' strike, which was largely about safety. Shortly after this, a train derailed in East Palestine, Ohio, causing one of the worst ecological disasters in history.

5. Israel was attacked by Hamas on October 7th, 2023, and while I do not condone the attack (although as an occupied nation undergoing ethnic cleansing, it was arguably not a war crime), Israel's response has been to murder somewhere in the neighborhood of 200,000 Palestinian civilians. This is absolutely genocide according to the United Nations' definition, and it has been chiefly powered by American weapons. No weapon has gone to Israel that was not approved by Biden.

6. Democrats keep saying the economy is great under Biden, but all I can seem to see is record levels of poverty and homelessness. I don't care how the stock market is while Americans sleep in the street, and the Supreme Court allows making it a crime.

This is just off the top of my head; there's really so much more. And Kamala Harris said if she was in charge, she would have done nothing different. Is it really a surprise that Americans didn't turn out to vote for her?

Until a socialist party is considered mainstream, the US will remain paralyzed.

Dragan Veselinovic's avatar

The U.S. needs to be broken up, or turned into a type of loose Confederacy for Socialism to take root in a selected States. The (single) state has to have strong industry and be culturally homogeneous to function properly.

Chang Chokaski's avatar

>>"...culturally homogeneous..." ?

What exactly do you mean by that? No diversity? All whites or all blacks or all hispanics or all asians or...?

Dragan Veselinovic's avatar

Not necessarily based only on the race, but more on the historic background, work ethics, etc. That's why Scandinavian "socialism" works, or Chinese. Yugoslavia, helped by the outside actors, disintegrated because of petty historical grievances. Even though they were in the majority genetically indistinguishable.

Biden wrote the Patriot Act in 1995 just waiting for a chance to put it in play. He also got the bankruptcy bill passed that made it harder for we the people to declare bankruptcy, but easy for the parasite class. He also made it darn near impossible to discharge student loans.

Biden has always been a racist, arrogant and mean SoB. I’m just glad that when he finally got to play president his mind was so far gone that he made a fool of himself in front of the world!

MakeTheWorldSafeForDiversity's avatar

You can't tell your base that you're fighting to protect democracy and actively commit a genocide. You've taught liberals that jews were victims of the worst mass murder in history and now you see their same ancestors have ZERO problem with genocide being done directly by them to someone who isn't them. That fucks up the liberals’ worldview. It creates a cognitive dissonance that you claim only fascists support. Israel is the Holocaust perpetrator. Israel is the Holocaust denier. How's that for cognitive dissonance, democrats? I'm not going to be gaslighted into supporting genocide and feel sorry for the democrats chickens coming home to roost. If democrats actively commit genocide in Gaza, how will they oppose it if it comes to America?
