The whole G conference reminds me of a few lines from the "The Interpreter" spoken by the movie's eponym, describing the Geneva Conference as a collection of old white men patting themselves on the back upon delivering empty words that accomplish nothing. Wish I had a copy of that 2005 film to draw an exact quotation, but that was the gist of it. What a staged farce this caucus was. Watching/listening to an actual interpreter translating the words of one participant brought the realism of those lines home to me.
If the President will admit what Asia knows, it could save the US Philippine Visiting Forces Agreement. Oligarch Corazon Aquino's 1986 "election" was a coup. The recent UN arbitral award & a less well-known bilateral agreement allow US special forces and nuclear weapons to pass through the South China Sea. Is some one trying to make the Philippines ground zero in a an idiotic nuclear power play against China?
China definitely has the nuclear capability to do the US in without even striking the ground with one. The next nuclear war, if their is one, will be fought in space, knocking out satellites.
