Actually, those who have studied the bible more carefully know one can find some remarkable spiritual stories with some depth (such as the story of Joseph or Ruth). But much of the writing has been overshadowed by cynical manipulation, redactions - by unscrupulous clergy over the centuries. Some original christian writings completely have vanished or been abolished. For example, the early Gnostic writings marginalized into non-existence.
The New Testament is an even greater mess than the Old Testament. Who the real Jesus was and what he said - well you got to read a great deal between the lines, and have a much greater understanding of the mythological underpinnings - to get perhaps a glimmer of what he was about, and/or what he did.

At one point we see Weiss’s car break from an escorted convoy of settlers and rabbis and head towards Gaza. Her gesture, she said, was to show the accompanying rabbis that Gaza is not “beyond reach.” One rabbi, Dov Lior, is shown calling for Palestinian “savages” and “camel-riders” to be “cleansed.”
And it's not just Israel that does this -- it's all western and western influenced governments and media who support this. They are what they do and support, just like Israel. What are the rest of us going to do about that?
