"Other US-aligned proxies take note: this is what happens when you put your country on the line for the advancement of US strategic agendas. I hope Taiwan is watching these events closely."

I can think of a few countries that should be paying attention to this.

Good news about Israel.

Yes I would love to see Australia withdraw it's tongue from the nether regions of the USA but apparently we are too young to be independent from Anglo-American domination. Our politicians are far too gutless to give the empire the flick so it seems as though we will just wait until the empire collapses into a fetid glob of sludge and we will be free by default.

Well we have Federal election coming up so now's the time to tell Albanese to grow a backbone and some balls, or just fuck off!

'Course, that would mean voting Greens and a large majority of the population are too pathologically stupid to do that, so we could wind up left with a Dutton led regime - a horrifying prospect.

I think Australians consider themselves to be intelligent but how do intelligent people become so trapped in the fake 'two party preferred' paradigm?

Expand full comment

I live in north Qld. where it's coal central and intelligence isn't a word that spring readily to mind. The people around me rely on Murdoch papers for fake news and propaganda and of course, the Australian edition of Fox News.

And they say shit like "We don't talk about politics around here mate." and they don't, so they subsequently know SFA about politics.

Yes, absolutely. The best outcome would be minority gov working with Greens and Independents. But I doubt enough Aussies are ready for that - reality is, Dutton (heaven help us) or Albo will get in, same tired old slogans/rhetoric - still stuck with ridiculous AUKUS and cop outs on the climate.

The Aussie population may wake up during this next term but new donation rules will have come into effect by then and will affect the following election (2028), disadvantaging the Independents. We’ll be stuck forever between the two ….. Love to be proved wrong. Compared to Genocide in the completely demolished Gaza of course, it’s nothing…..

I agree Judy but what most call a minority govt. or a hung parliament, I prefer to call a Multi - Party Govt which would be be far more representative of a broader range of of Australian voters. Such Govts. have worked very well in various European and Nordic countries, but Australians don't seem to want to hear that.

I also agree with you second paragraph. As people like Chris Hedges, Caitlin Johnstone, George Monboit and many others have been saying for some time, it may already be too late. The peoples apathy and ignorance and the greed and corruption of politicians, have allowed the oligarchs to sieze so much wealth and power that they are now almost unassailable.

But you know the story if you turn your face away from theUS empire. The Us intelligence agencies go into overdrive, the pro empire media repeats ad naseum a besmirching campaign against the dissident leader, opposition groups are funded by said agencies, then veiled threats escalate into direct threats of action....its the modus operandi of the CIA/Mossad/ MI5 on those who step out of the "rules based order" or they deem a regime change is in their interests.

Their is no leader with the intestinal fortitude or desire or free from compromising information to step out of line. Look what happened to Whitlam.

But wouldn't it be so pleasant to see Netanyahu take a nose dive and land on his ego, seriously damaging it and his credibility among his own population of 97% Ethnic Cleansers and start to see all the owned and controlled Senators and House members in the USA begin to scurry off the Israeli political benches like rats off a stinking (sorry, that should be sinking) ship, losing all future possibility of re-election from the poor, confused voters for supporting un-American activities (AIPAC driven.....a.k.a. graft and electoral bribery).

Given time, what a great movie this would make. "The Zionist Rats of Washington" (a.k.a "The Sinking Ship"). We could even have a follow up, "Biden, the Dementia Butcher of Gaza".

Blackmail, bribery, whatever threats necessary to leash those a-holes: I could care less. The outcome of stopping the murders comes first. The Ukrainian people have paid a big price for the US to wage their proxy war with Russia. So many have escaped to other countries with their children. And so many men have died. For what? What does the US have planned next? There seems to be a coup happening there led by an unelected Nazi. What is the price for the better news and who is going to have to pay it? Will the US really take Gaza? Is that who will pay for these changes?

Charles,

We could do with a few show trials in the US, as a distraction, but finding a Judge who is honest and prepared to prosecute the AIPAC members, the grafters and outrageous criminals (all wearing classy suits and with friends like Trump) may be the stumbling block. He knows how to avoid going to prison........so far.

I can remember the McCarthy investigations in the 1950's. Got a lot of coverage in the papers (nothing else on in those days except little skirmish in Korea) and it will require the media to have turned over a new leaf to try and remember how to report on the truth.

Or is it too late for that? Can they even spell the word....t...r...u...t...h.

That may be one hell of a task. On the other hand, the dirty boys (politicians) always have the likes of Adelson from Los Vegas gambling circles to bolster their coffers when needed and Musk as well, if he us still around at the time and fortunate enough to have avoided being burnt in one of his electric cars.

It's all ahead of us. The future is looking brighter, today, that is. Tomorrow? Another matter.

One step back and then two steps forward.

The world is watching and whilst the US will never criticise Israel no matter what, every other country has and will.

Israel cannot beat either Hamas or Hezbollah and the Arab states have bluntly said that they will not fall in line with US-Israel "Voluntary emigration" of Palestinians.

So retreat an inch or two and wait for a better moment. Give Gaza tents whilst the world is looking and at the same time destroy hundreds of homes and farms in the west bank. Steal hundreds of acres of Syria whilst it is unable to defend itself whilst pretending to honour the Lebanon cease fire.

One step back and then two steps forward.

Problem is that even while it is blindingly obvious that Ukraine has been used like toilet paper and thrown away.....the corrupt mis-leaders of Norway, Sweden, Netherlands, Finland, Estonia etc, are all queing up to be the next suicidal belligerent to get their countries destroyed.

These dimwits are actually complaining that there has been actual dialogue between the US President and the Russian President? What would they prefer instead: further rise in tensions, followed by an outbreak of direct war and eventually mutual nuclear annihilation?

Nowhere in mainstream European media or society is there any voice for sensibility, mutual respect, diplomacy or peace. Even in universities the adminstrations are stuffed with sellouts or cowards that shut down any such dialogue from coalescing.

Your totally right: The problem with Ukraine retroactively paying back the US with “blood minerals” is that the US, NATO and the UK are responsible for goading Zelenskyy to continue fighting the war, (rather than conceding on Day 2 which benefitted mostly American arms manufacturers -and the agents of Empire of course . The result (which was obvious from the initial invasion forward) is now the same as it would have been on Day 2, except alot of people and infrastructure have been destroyed. Who will

pay for that? Ukraine? As if!

If anything, the arms dealers should foot the bill for a break even, while Biden, Blinken, Nuland, Jens Stoltenberg and Boris Johnson can go fuck themselves and live under some rubble in Gaza or Harkiv for an eternity
