There's a vast divide between the considered and restrained rhetoric that comes out of the Kremlin and China and the hysterical chest beating of the US.

I am chafing at John Kirby's leadership in English language vocabulary. You don't see that kind of vocabulary out of Russia or China.

I wonder if Americans would agree that they should rule the world at all cost. It is the Deep State and their masters who dictate to the White House, after all. It is those who will sit in their underground bunkers while the bombs fall and the world burns. So, let us be precise.

That was hilarious - thank you. US and its Biden are “leaders” ;-))

And don't forget that oldie, but goodie, the US president as "the Leader of the Free World"!

//I'm not one of those who believe a multipolar world will be a wonderful thing, I just recognize that it beats the hell out of the alternative, that being increasingly reckless nuclear brinkmanship to maintain global control. The US has been in charge long enough to make it clear that the world order it dominates can only be maintained by nonstop violence and aggression, with more and more of that violence and aggression being directed toward major nuclear-armed powers. The facts are in and the case is closed: US unipolar hegemony is unsustainable.

The problem is that the US empire itself does not know this. This horrifying trajectory we're on toward an Atomic Age world war is the result of the empire's doctrine that it must maintain unipolar control at all costs crashing into the rise of a multipolar world order.

It doesn't need to be this way. There's no valid reason why the US needs to remain in charge of the world and can't just let different people in different regions sort out their own affairs like they always did before. There's no valid reason why governments need to be brandishing armageddon weapons at each other instead of collaborating peacefully in the interest of all humankind. We're being pushed toward disaster to preserve "American leadership around the world," and I for one do not consent to this.//

I do not consent to this, either! And I'm with you with everything else you stated so perfectly here!

Thank you once more for such clarity of thought and analysis, Caitlin!

I didn’t give my consent to such US actions, in fact I marched against US aggression.

I didn't consent to this either. As a matter of fact I never consented to have a criminal organization use the military as a private security force to be used to kill poor people using poor people. Who gets the money? Not the dead bodies on the battlefield. Who gets the most out of the death of millions? Not the dead. It is very easy to see the truth just by following the money as always! The problem now is throw in some Mass Murdering Sociopaths and then money no longer matters it's all about who can kill the most people. These psychopaths do not need to be treated with anything less than utter disgust.

Is John Kirby ever warped to think the USA has the trust and confidence of the world to naturally be its leader unless it’s all make believe.

Just the fantasy of “optics” is their leadership.

Now the USA financial fantasy bubble has been pin pricked and wouldn’t you know it there’s no Think left in the Tank!

It can be seen that Kirby, who has modest abilities, did not really delve into his complicated knowledge of history ! Because if this did not exceed your abilities, then you would know that so far countless great empires, which have now fallen into the sinkhole of history (to our great pleasure :)) have been spouting the same false phrases by their empty-headed spokesmen in the past millennia !

Caitlin, you need to draw comparisons to the lead up to WWI where age old antagonists, the English and French ganged up on a newly federated and rapidly industrialising Germany to keep it "in it's place" and not disturb the "natural" 'world order' by forcing them (Germany) into war that was expected to be 'over for christmas'! Result: millions dead and, in the end, Germany ended up romping past both the English and French as measured by wealth. All the USofA is succeeding in accomplishing these days is to accelerate the awareness that the USofA is not required and can be increasing ignored to the benefit of the vast majority of the world's nations, the world's population and that of the planet's health in general.

The manner in which these various spokespeople talk to the world they supposedly lead seems to become increasingly blatant in its patronizing and derisive character. The western part - the one truly led - is probably swallowing this without notice. And deservedly so, the zombies they have become. The rest of the world is just getting nauseous.

Hmm. Your last line gives me an idea--if we could get a viral theme going worldwide, but ESPECIALLY in the US, like the Me Too phenomenon--in this case, people saying, "I do not consent to US domination of the world." Maybe the wording needs to be tweaked.

"Leader" is just a cuddly way to say "empire".

It's rather telling when I person asserts something along the lines of "I'm the greatest and you must listen to me and me alone!" over and over again. We call it "narcissism" and it is a personality disorder. Why should sane and healthy people need or even want to follow a "leader" who's inherently mentally ill? It's a nonsensical suggestion and should be ignored. Just like what China, Russia, et.al., are doing. They're ignoring the raving lunatic of the US capitalist class and going about their own business trying to do the best for their own and get along with everybody else. Thank heavens the rest of the planet isn't a dangerous atom-bomb-dropping nutjob like the US!

Agree 100%. I'm in Northern Ireland, a tiny country on a little island at the Western egde of the Eurasian land-mass. A political football that gets kicked around by the UK, USA and EU, and we never had a choice in any of this shite either.
