There's a vast divide between the considered and restrained rhetoric that comes out of the Kremlin and China and the hysterical chest beating of the US.
It's a sign of an empire losing its shit over its decline in dominance. Question is how far will they go in terms of retribution for their loss of power?
They dont have any loss of power. They have a loss of soft power. And more than enough power to destroy
1) Their own subjects - no other country can intervene
2) The subjects of their vassal countries - see Nord Stream to and interest rate hikes
3) Even third party countries - the only defense others have is basically to slog out a deadly WW I style war of defensive attraction or to mutually destroy the planet
So do you consider that a “loss of power”? I dont.
They are like a four year old boy with a bomb and a machine gun in their hands. good luck to us all.
Beware of cornered animals, especially nuclear ones……that have 1500 nukes and have previously dropped the nukes on an already defeated country - not once but twice - and for little other reason than to demonstrate the proof of concept to the rest of the world and make them quake.
Not only could one to that, it seems one has. Few people are aware of our sordid history of world tyranny; such is the power of propaganda and indoctrination. Sad story, that.
I wonder if Americans would agree that they should rule the world at all cost. It is the Deep State and their masters who dictate to the White House, after all. It is those who will sit in their underground bunkers while the bombs fall and the world burns. So, let us be precise.
Americans don't believe they'd incur any cost. Not on their territory anyway, and that's all that matters to them. They hope to repeat the experience of the previous two wars where they benefited handsomely.
The question is when do they realize that this time it'll be different.
It’s all just a tv show until it effects us personally. Require Americans to send their kids to battle and you’d see a proper anti war movement. Most believe that Putin is a mad man on one hand but not so mad that he’d blow up the world. Propaganda induced Mental gymnastics + Weak, lazy minds? Hyper individualism such that we barely care about next door neighbors let alone what’s happening overseas? Hard to explain
Yes, the cognitive dissonance is astounding. Or, "Exceptional!". Just today, in a coffee shop, i heard two old guys (i.e. even older then me)- who obviously get all their 'info' from the main stream press - going on about that crazy man 'Putin' ... with one going on to say, however, of nukes.... "he's not that crazy". As you say, 'Propaganda induced Mental gymnastics and weak, lazy minds." They're more the norm, now in my observation.
" Not on their territory, anyway." A major comment
Americans, just for once, need to feel threatened at home. They also need to know that one nuclear missile in places like New York could bring down half of the buildings, kill millions in one hit and cause decades of restructuring, equalling the results we can see as a result of Bush’s “shock and awe” campaign in Iraq. Another example being the efforts that it took in Hiroshima and Nagasaki after the totally unnecessary bombing of those two Japanese cities in 1945. Imagine the deaths, the waste. Check out the lethal qualities of a 2023 nuclear weapon compared to the very first used, again by the US, in 1945. Too many weapons in stock to count around the world including the 400+ hiding in apartheid Israel, a state which is the single reason for most of the troubles around the globe, the self-styled 'chosen people’ and the unquestionable controllers of the majority of politicians in the USA.
In Australia today, as in the USA, both major parties are tarred with the same brush; both have voted for AUKUS from which the USA will receive great profits but which will ruin the lives of Australians, but as in past wars, unlikely to even slightly impact the geography of the USA, yet again. Both Australian parties know that the costs will bankrupt this country, reduce the needed care required for handicapped citizens, older generations, reduce the local number of students at universities, cripple the health system and increase the cost of living by a substantial amount. But by far, the worst item of all, this single agreement has made us a junior bootlicking party in a coalition for war in support of the greatest criminal country in the history of our world.
AUKUS means US, the UK and Australia. Just the three white / western countries, with Australia then under the arrogant control of a feeble foreign politician, well past his prime, a president called Biden calling the tune, being in no way any different to any other aspirant for this position in that foreign country. Yes, to Australia it is a foreign country, 330 million people, a long, long way away with no historical connection to our 25 million people, 13 + times bigger in numbers than Australia, but, as a result of the climate that the US has now developed, 41 times smaller than China, the world's US-created future enemy. Once our largest trading partner and future friend. Not now.
The US has put paid to that together with a small group of politicians with an authority to virtually bring this country as we know it, to an end.
Tell me that any of that seems real. I clearly remember the use of Chinese troops used to stop the US, (yes, just another US war, … the first after WWII) in the 1950’s in Korea. Some hundreds of thousands of troops thrown into battle. These days when you have a population of 1.4 billion, you really do have some advantage in battle.
For interest, China’s population is also 4.2 times bigger that the USA.
So what has happened here that makes us different than we were 25 years ago?
Women now seem to have been finally recognised by the voters as worthy representatives of their electorates. Yes, in the main they do not want to belong to the two big lookalike parties, but are prepared to sit on the edge as “independents” or “Greens”, increasing in popularity because of their independent stance on important matters which for so long having been solely the domain of male politicians. An alternate to the lookalikes, the US subservients, the many members of the US vassal states. Anything is better than that.
As a plus, new politicians being predominantly women as I said, they may also have a high level of concern for the future for their children. They may see some value in education, health, social services and security, not being part of a little ‘do what you’re told’ male oriented country in a big, ugly US hegemonic world, mortgaged up to the hilt for their whole lives with almost 25% unable to make ends meet. Just around the corner.
That is the future as it appears today.
But they will also feel the pain, a situation created by naive US sycophantic Australian politicians, Albanese, Wong and Marles, the likes of whom just cannot see the wood for the trees.
What you describe is the result of a total failure of the so called "democracy", or, put differently, a blatant demonstration of its fake concept. There's no freaking democracy. The "leaders" arranged by the system to rule don't give a damn about their voters. The voting makes no sense as the so called "choice" presented is a fake - it doesn't matter who one votes for.
As to your mentioning women. Well, let's include minorities here as well. One may notice a significant increase in representation by these formerly suppressed groups. The result? Total disaster. Which to me is by design. Women and minorities put in those positions jump out of their skirts (while wearing pants) to match and outdo the masculinity that the positions in question apparently require.
So where normal usual men would not be embarrassed to exercise restraint these finally "recognized" groups scream and ooze the willingness to be tough and decisive. Where's the fucking famed female sensitivity and reason and tendency for protection and council? Those bitches turned out the most venomous snakes and ravenous vultures.
The whole thing is disgusting and there's no way out of it. The "enlightened" and "evolved" so called humans will have to once more learn from their own mistakes. Whoever is left, that is.
Was thinking the same while I was watching the livestream videos of the continuing protests in France. Police lined up everywhere, in their gear, beating back French protestors. The French government claims it is a democracy, but apparently - for the last week, the French government has entirely ignored its populace, and refused to even uphold a No Confidence vote of the cretin Macron.
What is happening in France right now is not Democracy. It's a form of repressive, police state tyranny.
Or look up the Dutch police unleash dogs on protestors there. Or German cops handling their citizens.
But that's "democracy". Half of that violence takes place in Russia or China and it's a freaking huge deal in "suppressing" such. I guess having full blown one would indeed benefit those countries as they could match their European counterparts.
Right, I agree. This time, it will be at Australia’s expense; the rumour is that WWIII will see Australia as the place from where the battle is launched.
Does the Deep State (or whatever you choose to call it) really dictate to the White House? I learned in school that the president has the bully pulpit. All he has to do is give a speech in opposition to the oligarchs who want to run the world. But Biden doesn't have the backbone, nor the intelligence, to stand up to them. That's why they wanted him in office. Trump did call them out, and he was thrown out of office in a stolen election for it. But he is still alive and is the only US politician with the guts to stand up to them and demand and end to the war. That's why they are planning to indict him on "trumped up" charges. If Trump was still president there wouldn't be a war in Ukraine today. The politicians and the people, not the deep state, are still in charge if they have the guts and the integrity to take their power back.
I have to disagree, Trump kowtowed to the Democrats with their ludicrous smears and so sent arms to the Ukrainian Nazis (to 'prove' he wasn't pro Russian) The US had designated Azov as terrorists.
He ordered Syria to be shelled in response to the staged Douma chem attack (knowing it was a fake). And continued support for the Free Syrian Army of Al Quaeda jihadis like Al Nusra etc.
He ordered the illegal occupation of Syria to take control of the oil fields. And boasted about it.
He did nothing but continue US foreign policy strategy despite hi pre-election isolationist rhetoric.
'I love wikileaks!' pre-election,
'Wikileaks? I don't know anything about Wikileaks', as President.
He talks the talk when he needs votes but has proved ineffective and weak when in office.
Maybe US Presidents would do well by the people of the US by just quietly doing something about US railways, clean up US drinking water, the US opioid epidemic and house the half a million homeless on US streets instead of trying to 'lead' the world.
He’s doing his job. Divide Americans. Rile up people brave & stupid enough to do something about it so the FBI can entrap them. Trump is a trap. Awesome performance by a reality show actor.
It was also under Trump that the US State Dept. manipulated (behind the scenes) to have Assange arrested in London after being forced out of the Ecuadorian Embassy. Trump didn't even attempt to stop it, in fact, Mike Pompeo had been plotting to kidnap and assassinate Assange.
Also the US under Trump vetoed any attempts to stop the ongoing slaughter in Yemen by the then close ally of the US: Saudi Arabia. Not so much an ally these days though.
Trump also increased, not decreased the bomb droppage in the Middle East and elsewhere. Which increased the number of civilians killed - which never seems to be on anyone's radar in the US. Americans kill innocent people everyday and it rarely gets mentioned.
Trump is no peacenik. And lies like all the rest of the Elite assholes when he's running for office. But once in, he's little different from the rest of the King George class of politicians.
I think you need to look a little deeper. Here is a simple example to get your awareness of the reality of the show. Contact your local congressman or preferably a representative who is a republican about concern for war and or nuclear Armageddon and you will get a scripted response proving that both parties are one War Party. Trump was part of the War Party and allowed into office for the divide and conquer effect and as another has replied here to you (Michael) a trap to draw out any actual danger to the criminal organization in control of our government. Unless both parties (Democrats and Republicans) can be completely removed from politics and actual people (not politicians) are put back in our government well what do you get when you have one roach in the wall? Politicians are the worst form of parasite just look at how they have proliferated across the globe!
Yes, the Deep State does much of the setting of foreign policy. For Trump, that was Pompeo- a neocon's neocon. Effectively, the neocon cabal has held power over foreign policy for some number of Presidential administrations- certainly including Reagan, the Bushes, Clinton, Obama and Trump. Look at the continuity of a number of figures from the Project for A New American Century (PNAC)- with Nuland, wife of co-founder Robert Kagan, serving in several Admins - helping lead Shrub to invade Iraq, engineering the coup in Ukraine under Obama, and now, once again, as one of the drivers of State Dep't w/r/t Ukraine.
Let's face it, while the Security (or "Deep" State insiders definitely were hostile to Trump (for one thing, he intentionally stuck his fingers in their collective eyes, rhetorically, he was no match- he is intellectually stunted, self-aggrandizing, etc. And notwithstanding his campaign rhetoric and occasional good instincts (such as improving relations with Russia- a tendency that the neocon Deep State DEFINITELY wasn't going to allow ), he certainly never has had any consistency of principles nor spine. They used him just like they used Obama, GW Bush, etc.
Lastly, claims about a 'stolen election' really undermines one's arguments. People are free to believe what they want, but when one inserts beliefs (that are unsupported by the evidence) into their arguments, it makes the latter less compelling.
The belief that the election was stolen is a distortion of the truth used to gather the trumpies together. The election system in this country is rigged. The proof you are never given a glimpse of a third party candidate. There are 2 candidates who you can pick sides for. Both meant to divide the country. It is a corrupted system as is the entire system.
Yes, I quite agree. The system of elections, is, in aggregate, highly rigged. So many examples! That the Democratic Primaries are rigged has been well demonstrated by both the 2016 & 2020 Presidential primaries. Many of the other primaries are, as well, as the Party's elites put heavy thumbs on the scales, often to keep out any progressives.
Then of course, there's the duopoly's success in keeping 3rd Party challengers off the ballot. The Dem's have been exceptionally active in that regard. And the main stream media align heavily either with the D's or the R's - and collude to smear any independent or 3rd Party candidates. NPR, for example, (and along with all other news media) went out of their way to disappear Bernie Sanders during the 2016 Dem nomination campaign - so much so that even NPR-loving friends made note of it.
And of course, the whole system is gamed from start to finish by private capital's ability to control most electoral outcomes. The holders of big dollars get great returns on their investments... the best politicians that money can buy.
As an American, we should not rule the world at all costs. It’s sickening how these Ivy League gimps think the world is one big game of Risk. They’ve been told they’re geniuses, and therefore infallible, their entire life. Apparently they’ve never heard the phrase ‘don’t go looking for monsters to slay’.
I didn't consent to this either. As a matter of fact I never consented to have a criminal organization use the military as a private security force to be used to kill poor people using poor people. Who gets the money? Not the dead bodies on the battlefield. Who gets the most out of the death of millions? Not the dead. It is very easy to see the truth just by following the money as always! The problem now is throw in some Mass Murdering Sociopaths and then money no longer matters it's all about who can kill the most people. These psychopaths do not need to be treated with anything less than utter disgust.
It can be seen that Kirby, who has modest abilities, did not really delve into his complicated knowledge of history ! Because if this did not exceed your abilities, then you would know that so far countless great empires, which have now fallen into the sinkhole of history (to our great pleasure :)) have been spouting the same false phrases by their empty-headed spokesmen in the past millennia !
Watching John Kirby in a video clip the other day, I felt like I was watching a slick used car salesman, or one of those con artist televangelists that were so popular in the 1980s. I'm only capable of watching guys like Kirby (or even Joe Biden) for a span of maybe a minute or two. Any longer, and my endurance is entirely spent.
What's crazy, is this guy may find a way to blow up the world.
Caitlin, you need to draw comparisons to the lead up to WWI where age old antagonists, the English and French ganged up on a newly federated and rapidly industrialising Germany to keep it "in it's place" and not disturb the "natural" 'world order' by forcing them (Germany) into war that was expected to be 'over for christmas'! Result: millions dead and, in the end, Germany ended up romping past both the English and French as measured by wealth. All the USofA is succeeding in accomplishing these days is to accelerate the awareness that the USofA is not required and can be increasing ignored to the benefit of the vast majority of the world's nations, the world's population and that of the planet's health in general.
The manner in which these various spokespeople talk to the world they supposedly lead seems to become increasingly blatant in its patronizing and derisive character. The western part - the one truly led - is probably swallowing this without notice. And deservedly so, the zombies they have become. The rest of the world is just getting nauseous.
I also think the rest of the world is starting to really get concerned about the US throwing its weight around.
Right now, most are feeling out how far they can go in their defiance without suffering too much from the wrath of the Empire. Hence, we're seeing a lot of "neutral" declarations.
Russia, of course, is leading the way with open defiance. China is pretty much there, too, and Iran. I'm seeing some also from India, Mexico (while LG packs his gear to parachute in as part of the first wave of the US invasion), and Brazil.
Hmm. Your last line gives me an idea--if we could get a viral theme going worldwide, but ESPECIALLY in the US, like the Me Too phenomenon--in this case, people saying, "I do not consent to US domination of the world." Maybe the wording needs to be tweaked.
I like the idea. We can think about the wording... something 'catchy'. When we were both young (heh....pretty long ago in the previous millennium), said, in response to some 'suggestion' or request by me, "YOU'RE NOT THE BOSS OF ME!" Maybe we need a meme with "Uncle Sam" being told off by the surrounding masses around the world, saying something similar.
It's rather telling when I person asserts something along the lines of "I'm the greatest and you must listen to me and me alone!" over and over again. We call it "narcissism" and it is a personality disorder. Why should sane and healthy people need or even want to follow a "leader" who's inherently mentally ill? It's a nonsensical suggestion and should be ignored. Just like what China, Russia, et.al., are doing. They're ignoring the raving lunatic of the US capitalist class and going about their own business trying to do the best for their own and get along with everybody else. Thank heavens the rest of the planet isn't a dangerous atom-bomb-dropping nutjob like the US!
Agree 100%. I'm in Northern Ireland, a tiny country on a little island at the Western egde of the Eurasian land-mass. A political football that gets kicked around by the UK, USA and EU, and we never had a choice in any of this shite either.
You have my sincere sympathies. Lots of peoples and places have suffered from the previous Empire's arrogance and abuse, and the people of Northern Ireland may have suffered it longer than most. The gradual conversion of Britain from center of an Empire to vassal state of the U.S. won't probably change that at all.
I think the term self delusional sums up Amerikan view of its puffed up, Turkey chest, view of the world. I’ve only really considered self delusional at an individual level before not as group think. But really Amerika is promoted like a brand by its acolytes and like desperate salesman going door to door they will do and say anything to make that encyclopaedia sale. It just happens to be a very skewed, retarded, misleading Encyclopaedia full of lies and threats under the money off and super-super discount vouchers for McDonalds and Marlboro. With repayment plans that not even the interest can be paid off on and in the small print allowing Boy Scout camps with nuclear weapons to set up in your yard. Also those memberships to other clubs and subscriptions weren’t an offer but compulsory. You are now owned. No matter the words, insincere offers of support and mutual benefiting schemes and freebies this has all been a carefully crafted plan of occupation, not that thinly disguised if you stand back and look. But once owned you canst stand only kneel or bow.
But just like the US cash cow, the American defence complex it has to keep feeding like a dog chasing it’s own tail. This cannot be maintained indefinitely even with the ‘special technicians’ in green jumpers being brought in. The rot from inside is already happening. Whilst Amerikan superiority and ‘leadership’ is being rammed down the throat in far flung corners of the Empire, incarceration has become a business, healthcare has failed, an opioid epidemic in place, school shootings, homelessness. Bankrupt cities sticks in my mind. How on Earth does a city go bankrupt? But then the reality that the nation is bankrupt and has defaulted on interest payments to China kicks in. To wipe the debt clean, boost the cash cow means the salesmen are working overtime setting up and enforcing the brand with a special sale in the Pacific Rim. With 22 Boy Scout camps now set up and the sub contractors of the U.K. Australia signed up for the special promotion. We have prime seats for watching another Empire implode and take as many others with them as possible.
Anyone know where we can get some non GMO organic, salt free, popcorn in a recyclable if not reusable container? I know asking for fresh clean drinking water is too much to ask, even from rain clouds today. Well that’s enough time ranting with my feet on the ground I’m off to find a pink fluffy cloud to stick my head in. La,la, la, la, yep today I hunk I will go with that we’re all really just living in a software program stuck on a loop of self destruction!
There's a vast divide between the considered and restrained rhetoric that comes out of the Kremlin and China and the hysterical chest beating of the US.
You just can't beat your chest that much and not be signaling that you're really scared that you're losing your grip.
It's a sign of an empire losing its shit over its decline in dominance. Question is how far will they go in terms of retribution for their loss of power?
Yes, they will go that far.
Sociopaths don't suffer from attacks of conscience.
Pathetic Impotent limp dick wife beating syndrome.
Not sure what you are on about, but please explain.
He means the US empire's response to its loss of dominance is akin to that of a man inflicting domestic abuse on his wife.
I think we're gonna find out pretty soon. Remember to 'duck & cover!
They dont have any loss of power. They have a loss of soft power. And more than enough power to destroy

U.S. rhetoric leaves one with the sense of desperation, like a cornered animal. Beware of cornered animals, especially nuclear ones.
One could very well extend that to:
Beware of cornered animals, especially nuclear ones……that have 1500 nukes and have previously dropped the nukes on an already defeated country - not once but twice - and for little other reason than to demonstrate the proof of concept to the rest of the world and make them quake.
Not only could one to that, it seems one has. Few people are aware of our sordid history of world tyranny; such is the power of propaganda and indoctrination. Sad story, that.
I am chafing at John Kirby's leadership in English language vocabulary. You don't see that kind of vocabulary out of Russia or China.
I wonder if Americans would agree that they should rule the world at all cost. It is the Deep State and their masters who dictate to the White House, after all. It is those who will sit in their underground bunkers while the bombs fall and the world burns. So, let us be precise.

Exactly!
Bingo! Pay attention to actions not words.
Ain't that the truth!
Remember what they did to the Kennedy clan for standing up to them?
As an American, we should not rule the world at all costs. It’s sickening how these Ivy League gimps think the world is one big game of Risk. They’ve been told they’re geniuses, and therefore infallible, their entire life. Apparently they’ve never heard the phrase ‘don’t go looking for monsters to slay’.
That was hilarious - thank you. US and its Biden are “leaders” ;-))
With "leaders" like those you get lead off the nearest cliff!
And don't forget that oldie, but goodie, the US president as "the Leader of the Free World"!
What a joke that one is!
LOL!
I didn’t give my consent to such US actions, in fact I marched against US aggression.
Is John Kirby ever warped to think the USA has the trust and confidence of the world to naturally be its leader unless it’s all make believe.
Just the fantasy of “optics” is their leadership.
Now the USA financial fantasy bubble has been pin pricked and wouldn’t you know it there’s no Think left in the Tank!
The one thing we know for sure about empires is that they have a 100% failure rate.
Kirby is a real piece of work. The US has the ability to produce an amazing amount of 'Baghdad Bobs' or as we in the UK called him 'Comical Ali.'
I am waiting for them to vomit on these politicians! That would be a show!
But I think it's important to get Americans saying this--that all this warmongering is not on our behalf or with our consent.
Agreed. it'll be an uphill climb, I think, but one worth embarking on.
"Leader" is just a cuddly way to say "empire".
