This isn't an article about Israel, but about the U.S. Empire - maybe the ORIGINAL source of evil? Israel would not have existed in the form that it has had it not been for the CONTINUOUS support of the U.S. Empire for MANY decades.
So any mention of Israel without ALSO a mention of the U.S. Empire can be considered as a 'half-truth' - i.e. the U.S. Empire can be blamed for the actions of Israel - there is no excusing/spinning/etc. that the U.S. can do to deflect their responsibility in this Genocide and more.
As Israel continues it's stranglehold on the US gov't that enables Israel to exist, even as the general US populace has turned against it. Any mention of the US empire is incomplete without that fact.
Is it a stranglehold? Or is it MORE a mutually beneficial relationship? I doubt very much the 'narrative about Israel forcing the U.S. to do something it doesn't want to do' (unless one is a conspiracy theorist and thus likely to believe any narrative that deflects U.S. culpability/motivations onto Israel).
There seems to be this idea that the USA is an independent thinking entity. It is not. Its government is controlled by Zionist Israel/AIPAC. How is it a mutually beneficial relationship? It is not. The USA is in free fall and the Zionists are at the helm. As Netanyahu once said - he couldn't care less about the USA. He will bleed it dry and watch it turn to dust (loosely quoted.) This is part of the agenda.
It would take a book (or several) to explain the plethora of ways in which Israel serves the interests of the U.S. Empire (which is different from the interests of the American people).
In a nutshell, one needs to understand Capitalism (and how it works - especially global capitalism and financial capitalism), geopolitics, and great power politics.
Remember, the interests of the rulers (U.S. Empire managers) is DISTINCT from the interests of 'the ordinary people of America' (though many benefit from the imperialism and neo-colonialism indirectly).
The U.S. uses Israel as its colonial outpost in the MENA region - to maintain control over trade and trade routes, oil and oil prices, the petro-dollar and U.S. dollar hegemony, other natural resources and much, much more.
If you're expecting a simplistic answer to satisfy your bias or believed narratives, you will be disappointed. You need to read the long history of U.S.-Israel relations (and European-Israel relations) to understand HOW Empire benefits. I can suggest some books to read if you'd like.
"If you're expecting a simplistic answer to satisfy your bias or believed narratives, you will be disappointed. You need to read the long history of U.S.-Israel relations (and European-Israel relations) to understand HOW Empire benefits. I can suggest some books to read if you'd like."
Yes, and I think the reason for this denial may be that they cannot imagine their own country (and their own people - Americans) being so evil and immoral so as to unconditionally support Israel. Either these people haven't read enough of REAL history about the U.S. Empire, or else it is DENIAL of reality and facts that go against their 'perceptions/narratives' of what the U.S. Empire really is.
One should think of Israel as the biggest of 800+ overseas U.S. military bases, "Unsinkable ? carrier", created to control (bomb) this whole oil-rich region.
Especially the Suez Canal and the Strait of Hormuz, the world's most important oil transit chokepoint.
Rockefellers’ Chevron purchased Noble oil in October 2022. The date of this is absolutely crucial to understand the events that started in Gaza exactly a year later.
US has been in the genocide business for 500 years.(By US I mean European Invaders of the North American continent). The Netanyahu regime is just a "Judenrat" and Gaza is a lab for Peter Thiel et al to test their deadly new toys. Israel and "The Jews" do not control the US or The World although the have a seat at the table of the oligarchy that does. This includes wealthy nations and individuals of all colors, ideological justifications, and religious beliefs.
Thiel and Palantir's technologies, as well as the newcomer named "Skydio" mentioned above are now being used to surveil the US. But if it turns out I'm wrong abut "The Jews" does anyone have a 1-800 number I can call? (Not AIPAC or ADL, they only pay off people that "matter") there is something very wrong here, I want my cut of the action at least.
One further point. Given that Israel claims self defence to legitimize their genocide against the Palestinians, it only follows a logical path to say Germany was defending itself against the Jews which led to that "genocide". We only have to see how they've invaded and taken over the US Government to understand that the Germans had a legitimate fear. Ipso facto the Holocaust was an act of self defence and therefore no different from what Israel is doing to the Palestinians, except they've stolen Palestinian land. The Germans were defending their own land making the Holocaust the fault of the Jews for living on German land. No?
No apartheid state has the right to exist as an apartheid state. It must either change (as it did in South Africa) or face the reality in the 21st century, it will be condemned and eventually sanctioned. Israel refuses to admit its atrocities have consequences and no matter how much evidence is erased from media it’s been downloaded all over the world and it’s never going away.
Listening to clips of enraged, expletive-laced rants by people like Mark Levin may make true Zionist believers feel validated it doesn’t change the fact that they’ve lost the young voters, including many of their own. How proud can they expect them to be of a country (hiding behind an ancient religion) that justifies raping a defenseless prisoner, shooting a six year old child alone in a car begging for help, destroying >80% of all structures (homes, hospitals, schools) and planning seaside condos to take their place?
No one concluded by the monstrous actions of the Nazi regime that Germany did not deserve "to exist." If it were banned, where would 80 milion Germans go? Israel is not going away..no nuclear power has ever been seriously attacked.......and so the only path to peace, since a one state solution is incompatible with the existence of Israel as a Jewish ethnostate, is a two state solution, a conclusion even Hamas has come to. The war criminals in Israel and indeed in Gaza, should be held accountable for killing civilians, proportionate to their evil deeds. To punsih a nation for the crimes of its leaders is the very crime Israel has committed against Palestine, the war crime of collective punishment.
Let us not become the enemy by emulating their crimes. The ONLY possible path to peace is co-existence of Israel, under new leadership, and Palestine, under new leadership. This is unlikely to happen until we find the US, which can stop the bloodshed at any time, with new leadership.
The majority of Germans in the 1930's did not support Hitler and the Reich, but they had little choice but to suffer it and many were only dimly aware of the holocaust being carried out ( the death camps were mostly in Poland and a few other countries ).
The same cannot be said of Israel and Israelis. By the last count 82% of Israelis support Netanyahu and the Zionist and their genocide. In fact many of those think the most immoral army in the world is not being brutal enough.
Also, Germany had been a country for many years before Hitler appeared on the scene whereas israel is an occupying state only since the zionists made it so after 1948 - the difference between the two are magnitudes apart, but you like to jump on the bandwagon for that illegal occupation state every chance you get.
Israel has been a nation for over 75 yrs and has nukes: it ain't going away. Germany became a unified nation in 1871, less than 70 yrs before WWII began.
Palestinians have lived in the land of Palestine for thousands of years, but you think 75 years beats that. I feel so sorry for you to be so taken in and used by a heap of murderers.
Who gave them the nukesbecause they didn't make them - if they actually have them, which is doubtful because they refuse to let anyone inspect them though every other country does.
nazi-germany was (supposed to be) de-nazified after ww2. nazi-germany did not deserve to exist and was banned. germany was split in half (another '2 state solution' that wasn't, if you wish).
the nuclear power russia is being attacked daily (the nuclear power us was attacked on 9/11 the official narrative says).
the enablers in the us and the west top my personal list of war criminals who should be prosecuted, then comes the bibi-gang, then come the small fish idiots in the iof. punishing the abstract 'a nation' - like by dissolving it - seems a good deal for the vast majority of israelis who fully supported the genocide.
i think it is very probable that the only thing that is in the way of the obvious correct solution, one secular state with equal rights for all its inhabitants and returned refugees, are economic, corporate interests. i don't feel obliged to defend yesteryears centrism's position that always preceeds the drift to yet another explosion of violence and suffering.
Israel has no right to exist, in either a legal or a moral sense. Its claim to a homeland in Palestine is an invented one, and its machinations to secure the 1947 partition plan and the UN vote in 1948 are lessons in bribery, intimidation, subversion, duplicity, and every other variation of skulduggery the Israelis/Zionists are known for. Norman Finkelstein said it best, most succinctly: "The only right Israelis have is to pack their bags and leave."
You are right. You know it, I know it, most of the readers of this valuable Substack environment know it and a large percentage of the people of the world know it as well.
But the Jews have not put so much time and money into countering any possible action they have been planning for 80 years (and before if the truth be known) to be beaten so close to their goal..
Have they done it?
Yes.
The Western Media is the voice that drives opinion....where it counts. We have all seen enough over the past two years to know that it is owned and controlled by Israel and its lackeys. We have also seen in large print, the fact that there is no single election system, anywhere, that cannot be made to accept every known corrupt practice imaginable, because, as in the case of the USA, 86% of the politicians are already paid mercenaries of Israel and seem to be very content to continue on with this situation.
It's comfortable, it's secure, its supported by a corrupt administration, almost one and all and finally, it is backed by a narcissistic President (in the case of the USA) and in so many cases, similar world leaders in other Western countries.
Change? How does that come about?
Through the Courts. No. Most of the top judges have been political appointments, including the Supreme Court. Just another avenue for corruption.
The appointment of federal judges for United States federal courts is done via nomination by the President of the United States and confirmation by the United States Senate. What chance for an honest appointment in those circumstances. This is the USA, remember.
So kiss that one goodbye. Just check the current judicial membership and their appointers (Presidents) during their reign and their support for a genocide and for probably twenty million foreign deaths since WWII.. Reminder…..the last two Presidents have been Biden and Trump. Before that, Obama. Bush before that. Say no more.
So, it will never happen if we rely on the current structures in the USA to produce, honest governments and honest appointments. Then……action by the people, perhaps?
When a President like any of those mentioned above controls the allocation of money and the resources required for ICE, the National Guard, the Military, who can close down the public service, who can close medical assistance to the masses, reduce food support for the needy and start war for purposes like oil in Venezuela, there is little chance for change.
Sorry America.. Every day that passes shows clearly that you have no future. Your fan cub (except Israel) is almost terminal, Your recovery to returning to be a decent country something of a dream (look at Venezuela as just one example, Israel another, Ukraine ) and then you have a Party system, one as bad as the other.
education (apart from the school system) and making the corporate mercenary violence distributors aware of the fact that their masters are about to replace them with a.i. driven robots. (at first it'll be fun to pilot the drones doing the patrolling and intervening, but then it'll turn out that a.i. can do that job better and cheaper and they'll be out of a job and find themselves on the receiving end).
So, I’m afraid, has my country, the United States. We enable genocides and foment wars, against the will of most Americans. Yes, there are MAGA types who voted for the orange monster because they truly thought he was a man of peace! These are the ones who are turning against him now. But how do we actually stop him?
The Special Military Operation in Ukraine was NOT "unprovoked". As long as officials and media keep up this lie, the less respect for them people will have.
It most certainly wasn't unprovoked. I'd like to thank Scott Horton for his exceptionally detailed breakdown of the Russian Ukraine conflict. Appropriately the book is titled "Provoked."
It's a world on fire. Caitlin's "bat-shit crazy" comment should be firmly stamped on every story from alcohol-soaked Hegseth to genocide-driven Israel.
The U.S. empire is riding on the gravy train. The engineer is Netanyahu, the front cars are filled by Republicans, the back of the train is filled with Democrats, and the caboose is packed with Trump and oligarchs…
And the rest of humanity just hears toot.. toot… toot….
‘Lovely’ imagery……but don’t forget the ME Ethno States - are they riding shot gun on top like the refugees/would be US immigrants riding on the trains from Mexico …..that we periodically hear so much about? Or has Trumpet ‘solved’ that problem too?
More important than ever! The work that the Hind Rajab Foundation is doing will continue to be vital in tracking down, and bringing the culprits to justice. This is ongoing and something we should support, irrespective of any ‘ceasefire.’
Truly, it is all frightening. At the same time, it is indicative to me that the US empire is desperate and frantic and rapidly losing influence. It seems to have lost most or all of its soft power capacity, reducing its options to arbitrary economic sanctions and overt military aggression. It is far from being powerless, yet equally far from reigning as the world's hegemon.
Who can predict what the empire will do next? Or what will follow after that? A desperate man may act in unpredictable ways, and likewise a desperate empire. But it's on the way down. And with it, Israel.
Exactly, especially when their president walks around like a zombie, or wound up wooden doll that can wind down after a couple of minutes. He has let all Americans down since his first day in office when he put a bunch of totally inexperience incompetents, with swelled heads, into his cabinet. Probably thought that they would, since they are dumber than himself, be easier to fool but he lost the plot so fast -- how could anyone of sane mind let Musk have the free reign he was given in every department of government -- and then left the country in their hands-though, if he could, he would reject that-and what a damn mess they are making of everything they touch.
Call on Pope Leo XIV to do whatever it takes to save Gaza and stop the bombing, and end the starvation. Let him go to Gaza and stand with the suffering people who are being massacred by Israel and the Western posers. He can go to Gaza right now, and insist aid be allowed in. Then on to the West Bank to end the occupation and apartheid.
Is there anything more important in today's world than this?
He appeared to welcome Herzog into the Vatican without condemnation of the genocide. Have you heard any outrage from him lately on the current stage of the genocide and the fake peace plan?
What's interesting about that suggestion is the Vatican carries weight that not even the most astute conspiracy theorists recognize yet at the same time appears flaccid in its ability to bring about change. It hides in the wide open shadows
I've been seeing videos of it and it sounds amazing! Retirement at 50 or 55, affordable, beautiful, clean technology, great public transit, people focused.
I keep thinking why am I here in Canada where everyone's so desperate?
Be careful of biased views. China is a large country with diverse ethnicities and variations in economic and cultural circumstances. One part of China can be very different from another part of China. To give you an analogy, think of the differences between the state of California and Texas, or a conservative Midwestern state to a liberal North Eastern state. Also, the geographies, environmental conditions, etc. of China are VERY varied.
You are UNLIKELY to get an objective opinion/study of China based on 'online media' (which often includes social media) or 'anti-U.S. Empire' proponents. For a MORE balanced view on China, you might have to converse with someone from China that has experienced REAL LIFE in China (and not just a select slice of Chinese society), and possibly travel and spend time in different parts of China (and not just select 'big cities').
Also beware - China has a hyper surveillance culture - much more than any Western nation (and no, this is not bias or hype but factual reality on the ground).
The grass always seems greener on the other side...
I met some ex-pats, in HCMC Vietnam. They were from Shanghai. They gave me the impression that you can pretty much do anything you wanted there, smoke whatever you wanted, have sex with whoever, make any kind of abstract art, as long as you didn't get political about it at all. This was in 2017, not sure what it's like there. The leader of this "artists collective" was nice enough to get me a plane ticket to meet up with them. He later used Maoist ideology to justify skipping out on a bar tab, at a bar owned by a pretty decent couple of people. Careful who you get mixed up with online.
Well no, lol. But my grandson is learning Mandarin, so maybe he can get us some info!
Suggestion Diana: I’m a country gal and would like to remain so. I can grow us our own veggies, as I’ve been doing for 40+ years. Gardening is second nature to me 🙂
Great skill! You're valuable where ever you happen to live right now. I'm a wannabe great gardener, but in reality not very good at it. I spend too much time online writing and researching, and that's where my passion lies these days.
I'm actually pretty tied to where I live, but am so curious about China. It sounds amazing.
And I'd love to hear what you're grandson has to say, even if realistically I can't move there.
When you put the evidence in this clear and convincing way, there's only one thing for us to do: Take down the empire. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. We can't allow these sorts of activities to continue. Rise up and free yourselves!
It’s the capitalist system we are all enslaved by. A system fully in the hands of psychopaths, feeding off of itself, pretending to be the savior of humanity, masquerading as civilization.
It’s our participation in this sick game of winner takes all, I’m better than you and we need this or that in order to be happy. Agree, we will collectively break out of this when there are enough of us. They may have my labor but they no longer have my mind.
Yes, too many "think it and get rich" clubs, but the only ones getting rich are the ones running the classes, unless you had a fair amount of wealth to start with.
I joined one group and what they were all asking for was crazy, everyone expected to become millionaires starting from zero in this think it and it will come. What I put forward was for the perfect home that met the needs of my dog and myself. No one applauded my limited wish but I got exactly what was need for us and a little more, and boy was I grateful, and still am although my bossy little furry darling is no longer here to share it, her last days were in a place she loved.
Those other people are still doing course after course after course to become millionaires 🤔
It seems that all most Americans want is to make money. 💰 when I went to college, people were looking for a noble career, to help and improve themselves, the world, and those in need. What happened to that?
I spent half my life working as a janitor, security guard, factory worker, etc to put myself through college. The other half of my working life I spent as a Social Worker. Not the sexiest life, but I think I helped a few people.
Harry, what’s more noble than social work? You should feel accomplished.
I’ve never wished to be “rich”; I’m happy enough to pay the bills and have a bit left over. My hardworking but peaceful life here on my farm is my idea of “riches.”
People helping people are the most noble professions in this world. The fact that such people cannot give the help needed is not their fault, but that of governments that pay too much to politicians whose only reason for going for that position is money, perks and all the bribes from lobbyists and power. And, of course pours not making companies pay their fair share of taxes.
When we first had what became the forerunner of governments as we know it, these lords paid out their own pockets from the worked lands they owned but they became tight-fisted, just like the modern day lot, because they wanted to keep the money to themselves.
So hold your head high, Harry, knowing you did your best for those in need.
Thanks for sharing. I suppose that’s also the point of celebrity culture; holding up these fake icons as examples of what we’re supposed to aspire to. No thanks.
Not exactly. USA (Biden) led NATO put missles into former neutral 'buffer states' - right on Russias border. Putin kept pleading with them to stop. Russia did not invade Ukraine until NATO started to put its missles into the former neutral state of Ukraine - and there - to put them into the Donbas region. This would have cut off Russia from its one all season port in the Crimea. Can you imagine if the USA, France, the UK had no all season ports? USA led NATO intentionally poked the bear - and now they have it in a grinding war of attrition.
Israel has completely forfeited its right to exist in a civilized, peaceful world.

Your arrogance assumes much.
It's the other way around
Please do. Thanks.
Ppl argue whether Israel owns the U.S. or vice versa only because they don't (want to) realize that they're basically ONE and the SAME
Just stuck in Denial..
Yes, and I think the reason for this denial may be that they cannot imagine their own country (and their own people - Americans) being so evil and immoral so as to unconditionally support Israel. Americans are VERY good at willful ignorance.. The best in the world, actually.
A trait developed over generations ever since the genocide of the native American population...

i think it is very probable that the only thing that is in the way of the obvious correct solution, one secular state with equal rights for all its inhabitants and returned refugees, are economic, corporate interests. i don't feel obliged to defend yesteryears centrism's position that always preceeds the drift to yet another explosion of violence and suffering.
Israel will never coexist. Therefore, it should not exist.
The government heads, many in the IDF and the settlers in the West Bank should all be tried. The rest of the population should come to their senses.
Andrea, “tried”?
They should be drawn and quartered.
I sure do understand the sentiment, but that would be revenge, not justice.
In opinion, that IS justice.
Alan,
You are right.
Good luck.
education (apart from the school system) and making the corporate mercenary violence distributors aware of the fact that their masters are about to replace them with a.i. driven robots. (at first it'll be fun to pilot the drones doing the patrolling and intervening, but then it'll turn out that a.i. can do that job better and cheaper and they'll be out of a job and find themselves on the receiving end).
No religion has a right to sovereignty.
So, I’m afraid, has my country, the United States. We enable genocides and foment wars, against the will of most Americans. Yes, there are MAGA types who voted for the orange monster because they truly thought he was a man of peace! These are the ones who are turning against him now. But how do we actually stop him?
To what “civilized and peaceful world” are you refering?
Hear ya, since 1948 !!!!!! BTW It's all theater (soap opera) it will play as scripted !!!!
The empire will only continue, unless and until it is stopped. It won't stop out of the goodness of its heart. This is how power and sociopathy act.
Anyway, what we are seeing is the empire dropping any remaining pretense that it is anything other than an empire.
RIP Gonzalo Lira
It's a world on fire. Caitlin's "bat-shit crazy" comment should be firmly stamped on every story from alcohol-soaked Hegseth to genocide-driven Israel.
It is terrifying how Israel is controlling so much and even more terrifying that the US, Canada, the UK and others are allowing it.
The humans who rule the empire know full well where the power lies and they will do whatever they must to get and expand their piece of it.
Good thoughts, DMarlene, but a gentle correction:
It’s spelled “Kegsbreath”.
You're right!
And IsraHELL is still murdering and starving Palestinians in their Holocaust.
exactly Ms. East, and we are told the "Ceasefire" was and continues to be, a complete success. What a sham
The U.S. empire is riding on the gravy train.
Anyone who still supports Israel and Zionism is suffering from a terminal pstchopathy.
Psychopathy...satan briefy invaded my laptop.
" ... Satan gave me a typo
And it made me really sick..."

Very true!
Duane;
Don’t be frightened.
Be ANGRY and act accordingly!

Oh please. The POPE? You've got to be kidding.
Yes! DMarlene & Carolyn Z, the Pope and the Vatican are part of the whole capitalist enterprise.
They are still there just like when the old colonialists who went forth with the 'Bible and the sword'.
What's interesting about that suggestion is the Vatican carries weight that not even the most astute conspiracy theorists recognize yet at the same time appears flaccid in its ability to bring about change. It hides in the wide open shadows
Can you give a concrete example of the ''weight'' the vatican carries? Not including brainwashing people about sky ferries.
(it's 'leave no box unchecked')
Yez - I have been wondering where the Pope is and all the 'pro-life' Christians.
The pope is a child living in a bubble. He is as useless as tits on a board.
Here in Canada, we have a war/austerity to hell with the environment budget.
There's nothing palatable on the Empire anywhere.
Move to China, anyone?
Can't speak Chinese. I'd be even more lonely than I am now.
I think there are quite a few English speakers in China. I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling lonely.
Thanks. You'd be surprised how common that is with old age (especially in the US). I like the Chinese culture, the food there looks really good.
It would be nice to visit China, for sure, Chang. I wonder which places would be best for a westerner.
Well ... you grow attached to things ...
Yes, and to people in the community too.
There are probably ex-pats in community there. Thinking the good thoughts for you!
Learn.
But ...
I’ll go with ya, Diana!
OK!
We'll have to do some research, and find the best places to go.
I'd like a place where I can get some good authentic vegan food, where there's some English spoken but it's not too gentrified.
Any recommendations?
Global zionism.
When you put the evidence in this clear and convincing way, there's only one thing for us to do: Take down the empire. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. We can't allow these sorts of activities to continue. Rise up and free yourselves!
organise.
That is the real wealth.
No thanks.
You leave out who is making oodles of $ from the various taxpayer in most 'western' nation states. Talk about an evil empire!
The invasion of Ukraine was unprovoked? Hahaha! Putin just woke up grumpy and decided to invade - no reason at all.
