1. Unfortunately, the United States is not scrambling to dominate Latin America. They already dominate that continent and will further cement their dominance, notwithstanding the transparent pretext.

2. "Whenever I catch myself wondering if I’ve been too hard on the Democrats I re-watch last year’s video of DNC attendees covering their ears and mocking activists reading the names of children who’d been murdered in Gaza."

Need I bring up again that odious woman who was St. Obama's head speechwriter for some years? This wasn't some marginal figure, this is someone who was at the heart of the Team D power structure, and I have not seen any Team D figure criticize of her words other than perhaps "Don't say the quiet part out loud!"

The Revolution Continues's avatar

You mean Sarah Hurwitz? Yeah, she said the quiet part out loud because she's a dyed-in-the-world racist zionist. The Dems can't criticize her because she was a friend of the Obamas, the saintly Obamas, don't you know... I call it Moral Insanity and wrote about it: https://therevolutioncontinues.substack.com/p/diagnosis-moral-insanity

Feral Finster's avatar

Yes, Herwutz. The irony being that she fed the worst stereotypes of Jews better than all the creeps ever to post on Stormfront.

Then I might mention HRC blaming social media for young people not being all-in for genocide. HRC can't even claim supposed ethnic solidarity, not that that represents an excuse.

This is who democrats and liberals are. And damn, but it is ugly.

Great article cuts to the essence of it. Big surprise - can't have Venezuelan oil going to Cuba. Who the hell allows the USA and Israel make these diabolical decisions. Very sad!

Feral Finster's avatar

Who will stop them? An armed robber knows full well that "Thou shalt not steal" and he does not care, as long as he has the gun and you do not.

Were the tables turned, that robber would be the one tearfully quoting Scripture.

Well, for me the Melian dialogue is best viewed in the context that it caused the collapse of the league of Athens and the domination of Athens by Sparta.

(The Melian dialogue: Athens said to Melos, we want your island and your city. Melos said, that doesn’t sound very ethical or democratic and you’re always banging on about ethics and democracy. Athens said, true, but we have more guns, so fuck you. This is often quoted as an example of the impotence of ethics in the face of power. However, what happened next was that having watched Athens consume a former ally, all its other allies abandoned it and it lost the centuries-old power struggle against Sparta.

The US may be approaching that point.)

Feral Finster's avatar

Correct me if I am wrong, but what happened was that Athens got itself embroiled in a war in Sicily. The city-state of Syracuse called in the Spartans for help, the Athenians were overextended and far from home, and that's when things started to unravel.

Yeah. Why does America want to spread its hate and violence to relatively functioning and harmonious parts of the world? Oh, yes, the American capitalists want expansion into these self-contained outposts. And to feed the armaments industries.

We will have to get rid of capitalism.

Aamir Razak's avatar

Plus the military industrial conflict thrives and makes its' profits off of conflict and war, so they have to go and instigate conflicts globally to create a market for which to sell their arms in. It's an insidious, bloodstained machine that powers the wretched imperialist' heart

Jon Olsen's avatar

The two Big Brothers need to provide an armed escort.

Occam's avatar

Yup. Peak America doing what it does best, harassing and militarily threatening anyone who stands in the way of spreading "freedom & democracy (tm)".

And this from our anti-war president.

Thank goodness they're setting their sights on Cuba again - on the brink of humanitarian disaster because of their nonstop terrorism and anti-american activities that I can't provide any evidence for, but whatever.

The Revolution Continues's avatar

"A genocidal apartheid state which cannot exist without nonstop violence, theft and abuse would still be wrong even if every Jewish person on earth supported it."

Exactly. If having a "majority opinion" was all that ever mattered, we might still have chattel slavery in the US South since they overwhelmingly endorsed it. The will of the majority does not equal morality. Often it's the complete opposite.

Aamir Razak's avatar

well said CA. Thankfully a majority opinion isn't all that's important, but treating it as such has lead to some very disturbing and dark things, like this use of a label to describe anyone who criticizes a state committing genocide and illegal occupation as being part of one group.

Chuck Nasmith's avatar

Control the narrative. Free Palestine. Cancel Israel.

Steven Marcus Gillingham's avatar

It’s eerie - the scramble for control in Latin America, the normalisation of militarism, and the media spinning wars as “necessary” - ofv not isolated events and more like a pattern of power protecting power. When you step back from the headlines and just look at the logic of who benefits from perpetual conflict and obedience, it’s hard not to see a system rigged to keep war, domination, and distraction at the center of public life. We’re being sold fear and division while the machinery of empire keeps turning, regardless of whether you lean left, right, or anywhere in between.

Kate's avatar

Spot on there.

How can such a Racist and amoral ethically morally bankrupt propaganda ethno group have so much power, globally. Revolting. They are repugnant and have Zero intregity. Long live the brave Palestinians under murderous oppression and occupation

Aamir Razak's avatar

Well said, it is revolting and truly sad indeed that such a group has so much influence and power. The courage of the Palestinians in the face of such apocalyptic genocidal carnage and oppression, subjugation and dehumanization is inspiring.

People keep wondering, who is in charge. Is it Bibi pulling the Trumpster's strings or is the Trumpster pulling Bibi's strings. I say they are both spawn from the same Predator class. They are twin brothers, both wings of the same Imperial Dragon.

We have been saying over and over again, Gaza will be coming to a place near you if Israel is not stopped. Not a prediction just an observation. If the world stood by and allowed over 70k people (some say this number is vastly under reported) to be slaughtered in broad daylight then what's stopping other despots from doing the same thing?

What did the Imperial Wizard, Klaus Schwab say.. "Get ready for an angrier world."

They were using Gaza as a testing ground for all their fancy weapons. Now they need another place to use them.

Funny thing, I just dreamed that they were calling folks to active duty. They were in malls and shopping centers recruiting folks young and old to join the military.

I wonder if folks are ready for a war in the Western Hemisphere, I mean, thousands of miles away keeps folks all comfy and safe while they wail against the machine, but a war in your own backyard may cause some folks to pause and say...

"Wait a minute... I mean, wait a f'n minute! That is just too close to home! Impeach that fother mucker before we go up in a plume of smoke!"

Quiet as it's kept, Latin America is NOT Gaza. While there have been many repressions, suppressions and regime changes, Latin America is full of sovereign countries who have felt the brunt of USA's Imperial colonialism, sanctions and CIA invasions. They will not bend over and play dead. The Trumpster will have another think coming.

Trump’s Venezuela War BLOWS UP, China & Russia Just Changed the Game | Ben Norton

Video Description: Dec 10, 2025 Geopolitical Analyst Ben Norton breaks down the real reason why Trump is going to war with Venezuela, and it has recent defeats to China and Russia written all over it. Ben explains why Trump will fail in Venezuela too, as the war is already blowing up in his face in surprising ways. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kji9CDkATak

Hello Nana Baakan Agyiriwah, Thank you for the Ben Norton link. Those of us who have been thinking outside the box and reading in-between the lines have known these truths for a long time.

I am filled with dread and sadness that the few nations left battling against the US imperium are under attack once again.

We are in gratitude to Caitlin and Tim for bringing the truth to people out there who may be unaware of the machinations of empire.

Nana Baakan Agyiriwah's avatar

No problem, Indu. 🙏🏾🙏🏾

Ben Norton did a great job explaining what was going on with this threat against Venezuela. This is so true... "Those of us who have been thinking outside the box and reading in-between the lines have known these truths for a long time."

And yes, Caitlin and Tim are very inspiring during these times.

Davina's avatar

Thank you for sharing this eye-opener. Good to know the Venezuelans will fight for their country.

So many of us have no idea of the whys behind the whats or whos of America's bullying, or the who that is doing the pushing, I figured someone more informed and secure-feeling was pushing Drumpf because, frankly, with a few ridiculous ego strokes, I think he's easily eased in a direction that he does not have the intelligence to unravel but will go in if he thinks it will make him believe people will look up to him as the "BIG MAN".

Now I understand why it was said the Rubio had to go.

Indu Abeysekara's avatar

Yes Davina, Marco Rubio seem to have a pathological hatred for Cuba. He claimed that his parents fled Fidel Castro's Cuba, when in fact they fled the American puppet Batista's regime.

The Trump regime seizing the Venezuelan oil tanker on its way to Cuba looks like they are killing two birds with one stone, harming both countries at the same time.

Nana Baakan Agyiriwah's avatar

It's like the finally got a chance to provoke the war they have been long been waiting for. I guess we can forget about International Law when it comes to what the USA does at this point.

When they’re not in power it’s easy to forget how evil these people are."

---

The Democratic party is banking on Americans forgetting just how evil and corrupt they are - supporting the Genocide, forcing creepy Uncle Joe Biden down our throats. Even pretending Bernie Sanders is some kind of great avatar of good and banner holder for the Democratic party. They're doing it again, running on nothing but Trump is bad. But once they have power, they'll fuck the American people as much as they have fucked Americans in the past. And the vicious, corrupt cycle will keep going, until this country really does end up under a 2nd Adolph Hitler, a demagogue far more capable than Trump the clown.

Don't ever say - some of us didn't warn those of you who (even to this day) still insist we should vote for the Democratic party - based on the Lesser of Two Evils horseshit.

Davina's avatar

Better to find and fund a completely new party, one not weighted down by ego but one that sees all the people's needs and not only the wants of the few disgustingly wealthy, whom you can bet did not become so by honest hard work.

jamenta's avatar

"nuclear war is survivable"

Survive to what? These people still think a major nuclear exchange would be worth surviving? The lucky ones would be the ones evaporated at ground zero.

"Russia doesn't have the stone."

Not an emotional decision. Russia automatically launches with Dead Hand in case of a nuclear attack.

The US just HAS to take over South America before the Banana Republic of America becomes a worse Banana Republic than the South America ones. We've only got a few more months to go here in what was the United States of America at the rate we're digressing. The housing market debical will be solved by cardboard boxes. Eating, by dumpster diving. Public transportation by walking with no shoes. Medical care by swimming in cesspools and evangelical prayer. And the Rapture will solve everything. The new national anthem will be "What kind of fool was I?"

Kate's avatar

Well. You have described the path that our "fast-track" coalition government is on here in Aotearoa New Zealand. It is sliding on the banana-skin to a banana republic in emulation of the US and of course because we are involved in menacing trade deals with wicked clauses and we've signed up to Five-Eyes and AUKUS.

When they've hollowed us out as well we will be a gigantic military and satellite surveillance outpost in the South Pacific for the US in the invasion of Taiwan which could be next.

Jon Olsen's avatar

Just like magma building under a volcano or a fault line in an earthquake zone, eventually there will be a rupture (not a rapture!) and it will all be up for grabs. That is the dialectical process in nature as well as society. Empires usually disintegrate fast once they start to crumble.

Kate's avatar

Oh if only it weren't so simple.

I’VE BEEN ASKED… why November and December bother me so deeply, when the time of year is for Thanks and Love. But the time of year is also for reflection. In November 1980, while Americans prepared to give Thanks for being alive and well, at the beginning of the month I was in the Guatemalan jungle taking the lives of four men by knife strikes, because the God Capitalism demanded it. At the end of the month, while Americans were in earnest to give Thanks and feel warm and cozy with family, I was in El Salvador killing and helping to kill several hundred men and women, and I put a bullet in the brain of man for whom I had, and still have, respect, because the God Capitalism demanded it. In the first third of December 1980, I was in Central America again, while Americans were snug in their beds, with visions of power, glory, and sugarplums in their heads, and I was executing a plan to kill ~1000 people, and once again I was killing guards with knife strikes and being soaked in blood. I did this for ALL Americans and their God, Capitalism. THIS is what I reflect on every November and December (and every other month has its own reflections). Within 30 days I had killed and helped kill ~1400 humans. THIS is what you ask young men without developed frontal lobes to do for you... your Dirty Work for false Gods…

A truly shocking testament, this same horror has sent men to the madhouse.

Extrapolating (but not ignoring your distress), the children of Gaza will grow up irrevocably damaged by the horror of the genocide.

Sean Griobhtha's avatar

It's true. Civilians are the most destroyed, physically and mentally. What astounds me is the persistent warnings through history, but subsequent generations let the lessons fade.

Kate's avatar

The fast-moving nature of capitalism means erasure of memory and constant reinforcement that the current situation is "natural" and the only possible way.

Davina's avatar

That is so sad, Sean, your pain comes through because it is genuine. I'm not going to give the usual trite words, I just hope you are okay and have family around you when the past roles back. Thank you for sharing.

Sera's avatar

I’m glad you’ve had an epiphany, and I have no ill will towards you, but what you term the Gods of Capitalism asked the same of me, and many of my generation, (including Mohammad Ali, of course). We said no. And in 1980 there was no draft, so I think you should look in the mirror and accept that these Gods depend on people who say ‘yes’.

I’m sorry to be so blunt, but:

“He's the one who gives his body

as a weapon to a war

and without him all this killing can't go on

He's the universal soldier and he

really is to blame

His orders come from far away no more

They come from him, and you, and me

and brothers can't you see

this is not the way we put an end to war.”~Buffy Sainte-Marie

Sean Griobhtha's avatar

Thanks for saying what we've already written about extensively. Read the article and you'll find this addressed specifically, and also a direct message for prideful precociousness.

Sera's avatar

Sean, My note was in response to the note of yours that it appeared beneath, so my it was not nearly as complex as it would have been had I addressed the long article you linked to.

I can’t put myself in anyone else’s situation. I certainly can’t judge their choices subjectively. I can only say that I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about the responsibility for fighting, for killing, and for making war.

I know that nothing on earth would have allowed me to travel to a foreign country and kill anyone. Not when I was 25, or 18, or 12. That doesn’t make me superior, it just puts me in the position that I sense you have brought yourself to after great effort.

My father also had the opportunity to be a soldier and, at 18, understood that killing is wrong, and that he would not be made to act against what he knew to be true. He didn’t brag about it, or preach about it, and neither do I.

That said, the words of the 22 year old Buffy Sainte-Marie have resonated for me for sixty years, and each year their meaning becomes more profound and more clear.

I appreciate your work, and wish you well.

martin's avatar

have you tried turning yourself in?

Sean Griobhtha's avatar

As a matter of fact, yes. That not being accepted, we then moved on expressing not only our own guilt and responsibilities, but yours as well.

martin's avatar

have you considered going back there and devoting the rest of your life to serving the people you hurt?

Sean Griobhtha's avatar

Yes, we do support in direct and indirect ways. Do you support peoples destroyed by your country's imperial and religious quests and racist wars; or, do you assume you're not guilty and are superior? In other words, do you have answers to your own loaded questions? Do you vote? Do you vote for war mongers (because they all are)? Do you pay taxes that you KNOW are being used to kill?
