Haven't voted for either wing of the political duopoly for 30 years (starting with Perot in '92), except duped in '08 by Obama. So I feel qualified and compelled to note how many of my neoliberal acquaintances often bemoaned Trump as an embarrassment to the US. But Biden's not, in the opinion of this delusional crowd. Beyond this obvious denial is the key point that you make here, namely that the president is a figurehead, a puppet of his or her capitalist masters. And that federal elections are largely meaningless indulgences into celebrity-style popularity contests, battles of bloated bullshit backed by the big moneyed interests who actually run this insanely deceptive illusion of a first-world society with a dysfunctional sociopolitical system that is really not very much better than those of third-world countries run by authoritarian dictatorships. Actually, it's probably worse because that endless river of sweet-sounding BS creates the illusion of logical governance, which so many willingly buy into to assuage their personal angst.

Things that should be obvious:

Americans live in an oligarchy.

Both parties represent the donor class to maintain the status quo.

Corporate media serves the same function.

Our military is a wasteful bloated mess that serves as the armed wing of the petroleum industry and does not "protect our democracy."

Israel is a racist Jim Crow democracy inflicting an illegal occupation and has no "right to exist" in its current form.

Billion dollar deals to "defend Israel" are a scam to enrich arms manufacturers and cow opposition.

Saudi Arabia is not talked about and can murder whomever they like, all because of oil.

America is the greatest meddler in foreign elections and politics.

American intelligence agencies are completely out of control.

Stuffed crust pizza is a terrible idea.
