People are the only force governments can’t suppress. Exercise your power or perish

Who runs the US government? The uber rich. Maybe they're the problem.

David Baird's avatar

The uber rich + AIPAC run the US.

John Turcot's avatar

The power of money runs the U. S. Government. It’s just that AIPAC and co. Use that power better than everyone else.

John Turcot's avatar

“Who runs the U.S. government”?

It’s not who, it’s what runs all governments… as in the Power of Money.

Changing the world isn't that hard, you just have to understand the enemy and go for exposed soft spots. In our situation it's the super wealthy. The tiny head on a very large snake. Don't believe me? Just look at how freaked out they were when the Luigi situation happened. Shit they charged him twice for the same crime.

Yes they control the government, the courts, the media and the very resources we need to survive. But at the end of the day their greatest weakness is that they're still squishy humans, with all the weaknesses we all share. All it takes is a relatively small cohort of individuals willing to sacrifice their future.

Half of us, myself included are comfortable and the coming apocalypse is abstract. The other half is so busy trying to survive to even notice what is happening. The breaking point will be when we-the-comfortable are no longer able to find comfort. We lack the character to do anything more than whine online about it. It makes us feel like we did something when in truth we accomplished nothing... kind of like praying aka wishing our problems away.

You are correct.. changing the world would be simple, if only we could understand that the enemy is not Them.

We're fucked. It's baked into humanity. The dinosaurs survived for millions of years and would still be here now, eating puny humans before they could invent the wheel, precisely because they didn't try to bend the universe to their will.

David Baird's avatar

Des, you left the 'utterly ' out of the 'We're' and the 'fucked'.

Giving Humanity the freedom to make its own decision is like leaving your sheep out all night, knowing the danger out there.

Or, like Kris Kristofferson said "Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose..."

The sheep need a Leader, someone with character, to stand up and lead the way home.

Desmondo's avatar

The sheep need an alpaca. They were born to lead sheep.

They are not outnumbered. They are protected by a mass of malleable morons.

Desmondo's avatar

Yes, there's a reason the armed forces are filled with the least intellectually capable members of society.

Thank you, Caitlin, for speaking out against a reality that we should not accept as normal. While immense resources are poured into wars and weaponry, millions of people suffer from hunger, poverty, and a lack of access to basic necessities such as clean water, housing, and healthcare.

Inequality is not an unavoidable fate; rather, it is the result of political, economic, and social decisions that we can challenge and change. No geopolitical, economic, or ideological interest should ever take precedence over the value of a human life.

What is the point of talking about progress and civilization when children are dying of hunger and entire populations are suffering the consequences of war?

We need fewer weapons and more food, less confrontation and more cooperation, less concentration of wealth in a few hands and more social justice. Humanity possesses the knowledge and resources to move in this direction; what is required is the collective will to put them at the service of life, rather than destruction.

Thank you Caitlin! Beautifully precise and concise. Beneath all the hand wringing and drama that comes with noticing the inevitable calamities awaiting us down the timeline, there is that simple choice.

Shit gets real when the reality of what's coming emerges from the fog of time. And it's personal. But the only thing I can actually change is me. So the only way to contribute to our shared survival is to model how to live in ways that don't destroy the world and the community that supports us to exist.

Thank you Caitlin for manifesting such a radiant and poignant light. Part of what feels perhaps like an early hint of a sunrise on a new terrain of human possibility 🙏

If by "revolution" you mean "entrusting our lives to some unelected politburo" then we are out of the frying pan and into the fire.

There must be a third way to build a society that is neither ruled by money-addicted individuals nor by fanatic people's commissars.

Yes Caitlin, I agree. It’s one of the things one can agree with and even enjoy, when you are Older.

We’ve had 80 years of peace, growth and goodwill, and now it’s up to others to make their own choices. Because I don’t actually give a fuck anymore!

Chookers 👋👋

Very well said, however Human greed and corporate greed is the main contributor which will lead to the demise of mankind (the human race) We elect people and parties who we assume will look after us, but greed leads to them being compromised and made greedy leading to the destruction of "our nest"

We need to look at where greed stems from first. Be it land grab, financial control, "interest" or "return on investment" . Unfortunately we need to look at what's actually needed to survive, very little actually, we need to reverse being a consumer society, we need to look at who actually benefits from corporate greed !

John Turcot's avatar

If the choice is ours, then what is keeping us from making the choice that will allow us to live?

Do we have a collective death wish?

Are there angels who wait until we make that choice?

Last poser… who makes wars, us, or them?

Anyone with a brain or heart and eyes and ears has to be trembling at this moment.

The present is very ominous; the future seems even more bleak.

The world as a whole looks a hell of a lot like it did just before WW1, or more devastatingly right before WW2, broke out.

Our current societies, polities and economies more and more constitute as forecast by 1984 and Brave New World.

"Western" powers are corrupt, and China considered as any alternative is but a mirage, as was the Soviet Union.

Maybe we are self-doomed as a species. Maybe there are just too many of us.

No matter: the "Let them eat fries" elites should be held accountable.

Of course they will send in the riot police.

Thank you, Caitlin, for inviting us to reflect on a crossroads that affects the future of all humanity. We can no longer view war, inequality, environmental destruction, and the concentration of power as isolated problems. We must question the structures that perpetuate them and reclaim our collective capacity to build alternatives.

This transformation must be profound, yet also conscious, peaceful, and focused on protecting life and human dignity. It is not enough to simply denounce what does not work; we need cooperation, critical thinking, responsibility, and concrete action.

True revolution begins when we stop accepting the unacceptable as inevitable. The future is not yet written—it depends on what we do today. Thank you for keeping this vital conversation alive.
