And where do the Jewish people have a state? The land if Israel is for the Jews.

Palestine has always been for Palestinian/Arab people. While we have been told that a small contingent of Jewish people lived peacefully with the indigenous people of Palestine for millennia, that is quite separate from the advent of zionists who have been stealing Palestinian land/property since they violently insinuated themselves in the last hundred years or so. The abhorrent expansionist concept known as "Greater Israel" proves that the zionists have never wanted to simply "share" the land with the Palestinians but rather, dominate, subjugate and eventually remove all Palestinians from their native homeland. The empty, deceitful claims to the contrary by zionists do not stand up to serious scrutiny. The false "promised land" mythology has largely been rejected.

What you need to do is to love your Jewish brothers and encourage people to get along with them. (The Jews have no interest in converting the Palestinians to their religion.) The land of Israel is clearly designated as belonging to the "Jews". That is a fact......those countries / peoples who go after them will sadly be destroyed, but maybe you think that is a good outcome? Is it?

If there was a promised land for jews only, though why them is problematic, the promise would only be enacted if they followed God's laws, if not they would wander the earth homeless for ever. In my opinion they have broken every commandment according to my bible, every single one except maybe the Sabbath, every law of humanity they break gleefully under the words of rabbis who are most definitely not good or decent people which says to me; the god they worship is satan.

I do not use the evangellical, zionist dictated version if the bible, I read the version written before zionism got the convicted criminal convert to do their bidding.

Why you support this is pretty silly because zionists are using jews to start their hope of world domination. Have they also got the ear of Drumpf, another dupe who will be ditched when no longer needed or wanted.

Maybe if they behaved like everyone else and didn't start accumulating property and businesses to tge external of pushing everyone out, they could live like others without needing to have a state for their religion only. No other country in the world has done that. It was a zionist idea, not for hews but to use jews and they fell for it because of the supremacy bullshit, and tgey pushed it, and pushed it until most of the world has learned to hate the state of israel, not because it is a Jewish state but because of what jews in that state have become - murdering, rapists of me , women and children when their not beating them to death or shooting children for fun.

Don't you get it? You brought the hate onto yourselves by your actions. You are the cause of the world turning against you. You turned zionist to become the elite of the planet and instead became abhorred.

as usual when these crises pop up, I do a bit of history research, and time after time all the problems stem from colonial exploitation. In the 1800s in the case of Venezuela (and the other countries in the region) trying to shake off the European yoke. The US, pretending to help began intervening. With "Rooselvelt's Corollary" to the Monroe doctrine, and then the perversely named "Good Neighbour" policies, the US unilaterally announced itself as the "policeman" of Latin America. Ever since it has justified them labelling any regime they don't like, or they see a blocking US interests as "criminal", "impotent" etc, using barely credible or simply invented evidence, then as now, to destabilise and coerce new regimes being instituted. Whether it's through sham democratic processes or just installing dictators is immaterial.

Yes indeed the Monroe Doctrine is total BS. I urge all readers to also look at another bogus thing from the past that has far reaching implications for the US and other countries as basis for law; hardly anyone, even well educated people know about it and most never heard of it, all by design, it is the Doctrine of Discovery - read beyond the offerings by Google or Wikipedia to understand it. I first heard of it in 2009, at a lecture by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz. She is the author of "An Indigenous People's History of the US." The book is a must read to find out what we didn't learn in schools about what we did to the the indigenous people in the US. Chapter 11 of her book is on the Doctrine of Discovery. Thank you Caitlan for you continuing efforts to expose the lies of Empire.

I'm getting too old to suffer through such world-destroying actions by the USA. I'm weakening. It affects me too emotionally. I was in remission with cancer before Oct 7 but a half year ago the cancer relapsed and I'm wondering if all the stress caused by my reading about the unbelievable crimes of the Israeli Jews brought it on. I'm on a chemo plan to again achieve remission, like I did twice before, so I'm hopeful.

I understand that it's up to me myself to find a way to stay informed and to not let it emotionally affect me so much. Maybe I've learned something in recent months. One thing that does help is to find this community of people who genuinely care about truth and justice, and I'm deeply grateful to Caitlin for all she does in that regard. There's something in me that prevents me from isolating myself completely from world news. It's like the attraction moths have to light during nighttime. I hope I'm learning the skills to limit myself and develop a healthy attitude. I thank Caitlin and other writers on Substack for proving to me that there are good people on this planet. Solidarity with good people brings much solace, especially since my family and other people I know here in the USA are so apathetic and dismissive of what we as a country are doing.

You do know, that the Taliban, for example, stopped the cultivation of poppies before the US invaded their country. During the time the Americans were there, Afghanistan was the source of 90% of the world's opium. That has gone down to almost zero, .4% of agricultural land cultivating poppies, according to the BBC by 2023, when the Americans left and the Taliban took over again.

One does not have to like the Taliban to understand that drugs aren't the issue; they are the cover story, and that making money from the drug trade is as American as apple pie. Please don't fall for this ruse.

The country that shipped drugs was led by the man Trump just pardoned. Venezuela has only a small role in drugs, and it's not the government. And drugs are sold to eager and willing consumers, nothing like shooting a man. Drug deals are consensual, not violent coersion. And if Trump cared about drug deaths, he would find that tobacoo, which is legal, kills 20 times more than cocaine. Has he killed any tobacco CEO's, the most dangerous drug dealers on earth?

I'm 57 years old, so obviously my memory of this won't be perfect. In junior high social studies in a pubic school in Columbia County, Georgia, United States (probably circa 1981), I remember that we were taught or led to imbibe that the Monroe Doctrine was some noble USA defense of other peoples in the Americas from predatory Europeans. Can anybody else who went to public school during this time in the United States remember how they understood the Monroe Doctrine?

Expand full comment
Patrick Powers's avatar

I don't remember but know the history. The original doctrine was a statement that European powers should not build military bases in South or Central America. Seems like a good idea. At the time the USA didn't have the power to enforce this.

About 1900 the French attempt to build a canal through Columbia went bankrupt. The USA took over. Columbia offered terms the USA found unattractive so they instigated a rebellion in the province of Panama, recognizing this as a separate nation.

Germany shows interest in a naval base in South America but decides not to tangle with the USA.

1915 US troops first occupy Haiti. Many more to come.

In the 1940's bananas from Central America were heavily advertised in the USA, most famously by Carmen Miranda in the role of Chiquita Banana. My mother taught me to sing the Chiquita Banana song. The small countries of Central America became politically significant, leading to the "banana republics," little countries dominated by USA corporate money.

In the 1950's Cuba has a communist revolution, expelling the Mafia.

In the 1970's the USA backed the overthrow of the government of Chile, resulting in a cruel despotism.

President Reagan declares socialist Nicaragua a threat to the national security of the USA. Congress wouldn't fund a war so Reagan raises the money to attack Nicaragua by selling arms to Iran and allowing the sale of crack cocaine in USA ghettos.

Horrible things go on in Honduras and El Salvador.

Coup attempt in Venezuela fails dramatically.

Haiti is struck by a severe earthquake. The Clinton foundation will send relief funds only on the condition that a rigged election be held to "choose" a certain comedian as head of state of Haiti.

Failed attempt to assassinate President Maduro with drones.

Bolivia signs a lithium mining and refining contract with China. The USA initiates a military coup. The fake government rescinds the China contract, signs a lithium contract with the USA, then nicely gives up their phony rule.

2025 Displeased by the results of the Brazilian election, President Trump takes revenge by imposing tariffs on BRICS Brazil. Argentina is told that they will receive massive aid on the condition they elect the Trump-favored candidate. Senator Lindsay Graham advocates an incursion into Mexico.

I remember how the Monroe Doctrine was taught in public school, but they never went too deep into the reasons WHY James Monroe was for it. He was a wealthy slave owner. Slave owners could not import "fresh slaves" from Africa post 1800, as per the Constitution. The South Americans (including a lot of Afro-Americans and Native Americans) were getting uppity and declaring themselves independent nations. Many American slave owners thought they could get "more slaves" from South America that they couldn't legally import from Africa any more. So, yeah, the Monroe Doctrine is pretty much an excuse to steal "resources" from another country. Nothing noble about protecting these newly independent countries, just another way to profit from their peoples.

That's a myth that Trump et all are working really hard to promulgate but which has no foundation in the reality of their outdated military equipment which they can't upgrade because when you privatize the "defense" industry, they're now answerable to share holders and NOT the US government.
