Lets give the US a base in northern Australa for their troops, on top of the Pine Gap surveillence facility for their "intelligence" agencies. Let us then replace the contract with France for submarines which are designed to operate in the shallow waters of Austalia's littoral with ones which are bigger and noisier and are not designed for that purpose but to team up with team US to patrol waters further afield. And that effort is to threaten our largest trading partner.

None of the above helps Australia's security. It weakens our naval defense and creates targets if the USA's provocations create a war in Taiwan, as their provocations created a war in Ukraine. Thankfully, I dont think the Chinese will fall for that. But, it is still a bloody stupid thing to do which only benefits the USA military industrial complex (and a little to the UK).

Oh, and to add to your list above:

and E) is Australia's dominant trading partner.

Great article, Caitlin. And nice graphic too.

PS: How long before before AUKUS becomes a synonym for stupid?

It's a band of "inadequacy brothers" or some such, look at the "leaders" of those govs: US, UK, Australia, NZ, France, Canada.

Look at the mess created, something not "normal" is happening. It can not

be that this is not planned. It just can't. IMO of course. Thank you Caitlin

for such excellent work you do.
