Fuck that coward Ed Sheeran.

As plenty of others have said, not taking a side during a genocide means you've already taken a side with those committing the genocide.

Ned B.'s avatar

When choosing sides, make sure not to choose a genocide.

Down with Ed Sheeran, up Macklemore and Roger Waters!

Mary Jane Arasheben's avatar

I'll never listen to Sheeran's music again. Seriously. If I hear any of his songs on the radio, I'm changing the channel. Sounds useless, but it's a matter of principle. And now that I know who he really is, the sound of his voice will make me gag.

Time to boycott stadiums!!

Ahenobarbus's avatar

Agreed. And what is there to see anyway nowadays? The tickets are expensive like the food and drink. You'll spend several hundred dollars typically. They stuff you in like sardines to jack the profits and the places are swarming with invasive cops. And you watch from a great distance. And what do you get? All stadium music today is shit basically (Ed Sheeran?), like the movies. Sports? Go play it. It's more fun and you'll lose some weight.

Deenzy's avatar

There are legions of zombies in every country on earth so the stadiums will always be full

Davina's avatar

I'd love to see that - no tickets bought for his next money-grabbing act, having to listen over megaphones so the sound is distorted anyway, your all like sardines, and smell as bad by evenings end. Best stay home and listen to people with ethics, who don't think genocide is okay.

More bullshit Zionist censorship. Fascists fear truths. Shame on Sheeran, poor Irishman.

Ahenobarbus's avatar

Is he, really? I don't believe it. If so, I wish I could force him into a reeducation camp run by kneecap. He needs a history lesson.

M F's avatar

It’s what the Zionists do and how the bought comply whatever their bank.

X K's avatar

The Israeli/Zionist progression of reaction when confronted with inconvenient truths: first, denial; when that doesn't work, then deflection; with that failing, comes disparagement of the messenger and the message; then they give the finger or the epithet and depart.

Mary Jane Arasheben's avatar

It's called DARVO = Deny, Attack, and Reverse Victim and Offender. Coined by a psychologist in the 90's. Once you know what it is, you'll hear it everywhere, particularly in the defense of Zionism and Israel.

X K's avatar

"... you'll hear it everywhere..."

Oh, for certain, as M F has said, "an established playbook." I think it's taught in hasbara class starting in Israeli elementary schools, straight through to college and beyond.

M F's avatar

There does seem to be an established playbook.

M F's avatar

There’s clearly no connection between artistic integrity and the political.

Rod Dawson's avatar

No need. Kowtowing to a billionaire censor has done it for him. The money was more important than the genocide.

Michael Gormly's avatar

Makes me a bit happier to be a penniless musician posting my songs to YouTube and Bandcamp where hardly anyone hears them. At least I can say WTF I like! Never heard of Macklemore but I’ll look him up on iTunes and buy a track.

When a net worth of 350 million dollars 💵 doesn't feel like you have earnt enough of a cushion to stand up to the zio bullies funding genocide and apartheid, it reveals you are never going to stand for anything of merit. Ed Sheeran, how disappointing, you are on my BDS list now... Well done Macklemore for confirming humanity is still alive and well.

Deenzy's avatar

Sheeran is clearly in the club, he has been photographed on way too many occasions for it to be a coincidence, flashing their various symbols of allegiance. You can’t get to his level of fame & fortune unless you are under their control

Caitlin, I blame the PUBLIC here (more so than the celebrities/athletes/etc.).

Why, you may ask?

Because if the 'public' still supports these celebrities/athletes/artists (that support Israel/Zionism) during an ACTIVE Genocide perpetrated by the U.S. and Israel, then I call the MORALITY of the 'public' into question (IMHO).

Boycott ALL artists that support Israel. Boycott ALL sports teams that support Israel. Boycott ALL stadiums and venues that support Israel. Boycott ALL merchandise and consumerables from such sports teams and corporations.

When the 'general public' refuses to Boycott Israel/Zionism (for whatever reasons - selfish or otherwise), then what does that say about the 'morality and state of decay' of our socities and culture?

CUT OFF the money supply - put a wrench in the profit making machinery of all these corporations - THAT WILL IMPACT the decisions these corporations/people make!

Like Francesca Albanese has suggested - "Follow the money" - target the corporations and people that PROFIT from this Genocide (and support of Israel and Zionism) !!!

Most Western "culture" appears to have become something like brain candy laced with fentanyl.

"Sheeran is essentially just a rich, soft-handed thug responsible for keeping any dissident ideas from reaching the ears of his audience, which is why he’s been allowed to become as famous as he has. If it were Sheeran saying “Free Palestine”, he’d be the one getting banned from stadiums."

Absolutely correct. I've always disliked his whinny pseudo sensitive music, now I despise him. Just think about the nice guy public image he cultivates and then the fact that he essentially supports covering up genocide. What a sleeze!

And Robert Kraft is an irredeemable zionist pig! He should be on trial for aiding and abetting genocide and sentenced to death.

But I do enjoy all these genocide supporters outing themselves. Millions will remember forever. Keep talking like it's all going to blow over soon, Zios...

Thanks for this article, C.

Sheeran has shown his true colours… that means all those that buy his stuff are completely complicit of the sickness of so called Israel.

Davina's avatar

They couldn't get people to like them for being kind, gentle, helpful, NO. They had to prove over and over again, that they are without any humanity whatsoever. They think they can but everyone, but that only works with the greedy. There are a lot more people with principles and scruples than they are greedy bastards.

The Boston Globe thus far has one 919-word article on Macklemore by Globe reporters, the Boston Herald has a shorter piece from the Seattle Times. Thus far (since 3:56 pm Sept. 14) the Globe article has 338 reader comments. I'd say in general those from sane, knowledgeable people with a moral compass outnumber the moronic, conscienceless ones by nearly 2:1, so there's some reassurance to be found, but as with Trump's base, you have to catch your breath at the degree of irreducible stupidity, ignorance, and bigotry there is out there.

Never forget, Drumpf is of German descent and the only book he has actually read? Mein Kampf. His idol killed himself, keep that in mind.

X K's avatar

It also needs to be kept in mind that his mentor was Roy Cohn. Well schooled was he, huh?

How many other NFL team owners and professional sports in general are zio-nazis? Boycott.

Very good analysis that draws out the underlying cause of why Western so-called ‘culture’ is a vacuous, shallow fraud: the societal level full spectrum dominance of heavily concentrated private capital. The US-Israeli genocide of the Palestinians puts it in such stark relief. Media, ‘culture’, sport, education and just about every other aspect of our society falls into line with the overbearing interests of corporate capital. Morally sickening but entirely predictable.

No excuse. Genocide is indefensible.
