I think we see enough that not being radicalised is our fault at this point. We have been watching three years of a live-streamed genocide and been made aware that every one of these oligarchs is a pedophile, and yet, people in the imperial core are still complacent and apathetic.
Imo, many (most?) USians don't feel responsible for what their government does in their name. This is why they don't hold their government accountable for all the empiring.
It's easier to stick your head in the sand than admit that mostly everything you were told from birth about your country ("the US is the good guy", "bringer of freedom and democracy", "shining city on the hill", etc.) is a lie.
For hundreds of thousands of years, humans evolved in small hunter-gatherer communities. We were highly aware of our natural environment, and had a varied diet. We cooperated to survive. There was no such thing as “work” or “school” or “religion”, and hierarchies were very flat. Communities only had from a few dozen to 150 members. We moved seasonally. For the last 10,000 years a large chunk of humanity has become sedentary. Living in close quarters with domesticated animals on a very unbalanced diet gave us disease and short life spans. The “nasty, brutish and short” thing. Slavery. Drudgery in the fields. And here we are now, completely un-evolved to cope with what the psychopaths who control resources and information throw at us. As hunter-gatherers we could perceive almost everything within our known universe. As smartphone addled wage slaves we can barely perceive that we’re locked up in giant hierarchical death camp, let alone that we’re brainwashed to the nth degree. End of rant. We need to re-learn to truly cooperate again to throw off our sick overlords.
Here in the U.S., the establishment is trying their damndest to whip up a fear of ‘democratic socialists’ going into the midterms. Of course the intent is to eventually criminalize anyone that dares to challenge the status quo in any meaningful way. The fruits of capitalism have lead us to the brink of an apocalyptic hellscape, and punishment awaits those who oppose the project. It’s just jaw dropping.
How do you find meaning in temporal existence? Are you ok on sacrificing yourself for the greater good? The maw of the grinding machine, churning even as your blood dries on the pavement.
Human history! All the human wars, all the wretched slavery - the butchery, torture, poverty - disease - so many deaths by agonizing cancers. A million men dead in Ukraine. 165 Iranian girls burned alive by USA Tomahawk missiles - girls just seven to twelve years old - expelled from life.
If we could see everything, what would it be? Would it be worth seeing?
