Ah no, you can murder as many people as you like, as long as you are white or Jewish. That's 'protecting democracy' or 'promoting freedom'. As soon as you have brown or dark skin and protect your people from genocide by whites or jews, then you are a terrorist.

Anyone in the world with a cel phone can witness the ongoing genocide in Gaza. Women and children, whole families massacred. The IDF, and the fascist cabinet of Netanyahu and the kids in big boy uniforms shooting unarmed women and children. There is no army in Gaza standing up against these fucking monsters. Fighter jets carpet-bombing civilian neighborhoods? But the fact that all sentient humans are witnessing these mass murders in real time; I think makes these times are different. We see the crimes. The death toll. The starving of families. The stupid attempts to drop supplies. When a phone call can end this. The planet is witnessing what Israel has been doing for the last 75 years. We are all Palestine. Every major city in my country has a ghetto.

We should all throw our cell phones away and not only as a token of solidarity for the Lebanese but because it wasn't only pagers and walkie talkies that the Israeli caused to explode - anything with a lithium battery can be remotely detonated.

''One day after thousands of pagers exploded across Lebanon, more explosions of handheld devices, including walkie-talkie radios, mobile phones, laptops and even solar power cells, have killed at least 20 people and injured 450.

Reports on Wednesday of several blasts quickly spread on messaging apps with people sharing images of exploded walkie-talkies and residential buildings on fire.''

I think that those early reports of solar panels etc were debunked and this video seems rambling supposition rather than informative. The components that detonated were not the batteries, though once a fire/explosion starts, lithiums would likely go up.

So no, I won't be expecting that there are detonators or self destruct short circuit capability in all consumer tech.

The pagers were one batch, modified by the NaZionists and sold via a shell company in Hungary.

So the Australian government is concerned about "grief and pain and division" caused by protests where certain "symbols" may or may not be used? Why the hell aren't they more concerned about the "grief and pain and division" that will come about when they've sold their entire country and its natural resources as well as their children as cannon fodder to a US-funded world war under the leadership of Izrealhell? That's going to cause a lot more divisiveness and pain and grief for the parents who will be forced to bury their dead children. Sheesh!! (I guess I'll never be allowed to visit Australia now. They'll object to my "symbols" and my objection to fascism. So sad and too bad on their part. It's time for the guillotines, folks!)

We really do live in a dystopian nightmare.

Our Constitution only makes vague farting noises about an "implied" right of political discourse.

That right of course, is definitely not implied in the case of Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan or any other groups the Zionist fascists intend to exterminate.

Caitlin, Very grateful that you have brought out into the open all the frustrations we feel here in Australia, about the vassal state it has become. We have watched in horror as our political class only had weasel words for a genocide. Went on to give diplomatic support, weapons and their full backing for Israel, thereby justifying the carnage. "Israel has the right to defend itself" was its mantra. We are in for more tougher laws than we have now - for freedom of association. They talk of division and the need for cohesion, while doing their best to marginalise and threaten its citizenry for rallying against the war.

The Labor leadership and the Liberal ( a misnomer if ever there was one ) Party are vying with each other to show their fealty and loyalty to the US empire.

Yes, we resisters are under attack, and what nationality are we resisters? Pretty much every nationality, and we're under attack pretty much everywhere, because it's coming to an endgame, with the psychopaths running the US/NATO empire determined to hang onto hegemony and the "American Way of Life" as we go through the bottleneck caused by environmental breakdown (not only climate change) and resource depletion. Eight billion is an unsustainable number of humans. but we could still get through the bottleneck without premature death if we made drastic changes to everything we do--how we farm, how we lay out cities and run economies, travel--with the elimination of war and militaries, and of wealth. The psychopaths running the US and NATO would rather risk a nuclear war and termination of not only the human race but most advanced life on Earth. What it will take to put a stop to their depraved plans is a global general strike, a global revolution.. The object must not be to "force the government to enact reforms"--they never will as long as the government is composed of corrupt sociopaths desperate to get rich, which our current electoral systems guarantee. We need a completely different system, which likely should toss the current "countries" as an outmoded and destructive construct.

Expand full comment
Mary Wildfire's avatar

And the crackdown of free speech everywhere (the US DOES have a First Amendment but people are being fired and deported for defending Palestine) is likely because the extremity of what Israel is doing--and being supported in doing by the whole Western world is a likely catchpoint for gearing up to that revolution.

I am not a bit surprised that Australia is getting in the que that the U.S. has set up. The Aussie government knows that if they want those fancy, shiny bright new submarines and other western toys to fight off the imaginary Chinese boogie man, they have to toe the American line, just as the British and Canadians also know. It's no longer the British empire that rules the world but the American empire that stretches everywhere the sun shines, or so the yanks would have everyone believe. See Ivy League Presidents (though I don’t like them, they were run out of office for failing to police speech), and Alex Jones (bankrupted in bogus litigation related to his speech), Steve Bannon (prosecuted because he is a powerful voice for refusing the bogus J6 committee subpoena; while Grandma Garland ignores Congressional subpoenas regularly with impunity), Peter Navarro, Giuliani and so many others all prosecuted for their political views and statements, nothing more. Every government, Bill of Rights or not, fails to resist the tyrannical urge to punish speech. This is why we need to limit government, strictly, not expand it to serve our pet projects, be they climate, regime change, wars, petty corruption, or anything else.

Government hypocrisy is alive and well in the state of Victoria , Australia, as police forces and politicians from the two main parties search for the means to turn the exposure of Hezbollah flags at a demonstration into a gross criminal event. Yet in the same city we tolerate the unrestricted array of Israeli flags at other gatherings of people. This is Australia and for the majority of the people an Israeli flag demonstrates support for genocide, murder, rape, children killing Israelis, now regarded as the most evil state since Germany in WWII.

The fact that the USA and its acolytes have labelled Hamas and Hezbollah as terrrorists, to suit their long term objectives of control over the Middle East oil and gas , their combined actions have never even reached a small fraction of the death and destruction caused by the US (and of course, Australia) in supporting the Israeli Defence Forces. Genocide running rampant every day and hardly a whisper from the likes of a Foreign Affairs Minister named Wong and a well controlled (by the USA) Prime Minister called Albanese. Not for long, thankfully. Australia has become a weak, compliant vassal state under the control of such people and the rapidly declining and shamed US Empire as it supports the massacre of Palestinians and Lebanese every day and where, without such weaponry support from the USA, there would be no deaths, none at all, every bomb and bullet 'made in the USA'.

Australia needs to get its priorities in order and see the real enemy for who they really are. They are certainly not Hezbollah and Hamas. Try instead, the USA and Israel

Australia has been a covertly repressive state since at least 1961, when I was fired from my first real job for observing that Tibet had always been a Chinese protectorate and that Beijing always appointed its Dalai Lamas. No historian doubts that.

Our media have always repressed the truth, exaggerated the trivial and promoted wars on behalf of imperialist powers.

And 90% of Australians did not–and do not and never will – notice or care.

We are surrounded by cattle, I'm afraid. We could not be more alone if we were on the dark side of the moon.(Jose Ferrer as the Turkish Bey in 'Lawrence of Arabia')

Now the Internet and social media are making that repression more visible and, therefore, more difficult.
