"On 10 May 1933, at the initiative of the Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels, Remarque's writing was publicly declared as "unpatriotic" and was banned in Germany. Copies were removed from all libraries and restricted from being sold or published anywhere in the country."
"His French background as well as his Catholic faith were also publicly attacked by the Nazis. They continued to decry his writings in his absence, proclaiming that anyone who would change the spelling of his name from the German "Remark" to the French "Remarque" could not be a true German. The Nazis further made the false claim that Remarque had not seen active service during World War I. In 1938, Remarque's German citizenship was revoked. In 1939, he and his ex-wife were remarried to prevent her repatriation to Germany."
Yes of course, cause if I as a Jew loved myself I would be approving of the extermination campaign against the civilian population in Gaza. Perfectly logical. The only reason I might oppose the wholesale massacre of Palestinians is because I hate myself and all my relations as well. Sure am glad that’s settled.
Yes, I completely agree , and I am an also self- hating Jew , because it sickens me when self- loving Jews think it so funny that people , including children get blown up by pagers! There was even a long post about how very funny that is !..with lots of people chiming in about the entertainment value of pavers blowing off various parts of humans!
I just got the “ treatment” , because , as a survivor of Nazi persecution, I dared to criticize Israel’s atrocities in Gaza and Lebanon. I was told “ You’re not a Jew”! Because Jews don’t hate what Israel is doing? The vituperations were nasty!
I was nauseated as well by a long post that thought it was hilarious that people were blown up by pagers! And then another post saying that all of them were Hezbollah!Right! All the children arose faces were blown up, who, lost eyes…really funny ! Oh, but they’re all terrorists! I am ashamed and nauseated by what some Jews are saying about Israel’s genocidal actions!
Have they forgotten what Hitler did to them? So they approve the same thing as long as Israel does it? It’s disgusting, sickening , revolting and completely lacking in humanity!
Jewish behaviour (or rather misbehaviour) is the root cause of antisemitism. 99% of antisemites are not antisemitic because Jews are Jews or because they celebrate the sabbath. They are antisemitic because of Jewish behaviour - in this case because the Jewish state is committing genocide with 85% of Jews support this state and the other 15% do nothing to stop the “bad Jews”: and thus their internal solidarity remains firm.
Many look back at history to show the disproportionate role played by Jews in slavery, pushing wars, and so on - this behaviour is what drives antisemitism. Antisemitism has nothing to do with bigotry, but rather stems from pattern recognition
Zionism. It’s an ideology. Judiasm is a religion, with many different sects and denominations. It’s important to keep clear on the distinctions, otherwise it leads to a faulty analysis, which, in turn, will not lead to a correct solution.
well, i don't know of any religion where they elect their god on the principle of 1 believer, one vote. or where they discuss democratically which commandments should be agreed upon. most religions are the basis of hierarchical power structures in which a minority (for monotheists: one - monarchs were supposedly appointed by god) rules over the majority. once people accept this principle, minority rule is possible.
The supremacist narrative of the Jews and the sense of holiness surrounding them is the main reason why Israel has been killing and ethnically cleansing Palestinians for 76 years, while still maintaining an image as a “cool democratic” ‘country’. This narrative places more value on Jewish lives than on Arab lives. In other words, not all victims are seen as equal, with the victims of the Holocaust being regarded as far more important than others. This sick, psychopathic brainwashing around the Jews needs to stop.
Africans, Indians, and almost every other nation have suffered, and no group of victims is more important than another. The Jewish supremacist narrative of being the only victims and the “chosen people” will only ensure that “never again” happens over and over again.
I’m sick of people who, whenever you write the facts about the Jews, tremble and say, ‘No, it’s Zionism.
How many thousands of Palestinians will the terror supremacist state kill before you realize that this narrative is our main issue?
I am Jewish and a survivor of the Holocaust, and all I see is the Holocaust caused by Israel! I am sure there are many Jews who would agree with me.
Unfortunately, Israel has been taken over by the Ultra Orthodox , who are as extreme as their counterparts among Muslims . When you read what some of the extremists in Netanyahu’s cabinet say about Palestinians, or all Arabs, it is as if you are hearing the tirades of Hitler against the Jews!
The only way to end this horrific tragedy is if the US stops sending Israel military weapons.
No, Jewish misbehavior is NOT the root cause of antisemitism. Antisemitism goes way back to the myths around Jews “killing Christ” and the refusal of Jews to convert to Christianity or Jews continuing to practice Judaism secretly which led to mass expulsions from Spain and the Inquisition. A lot of antisemitism is based on lies, like the blood libel that Jews used children’s blood to bake matzoh. Though some Jews owned slaves it is also s lie that Jews played a disproportionate role in the slave trade.
There is a tendency to scapegoat people who are different, who have different beliefs & cultural practices, look different, and/or whose skin is just a bit darker (Jews were not “white” in Germany), just like the scapegoating of Muslims or immigrants, using the bad actions of a few or some in the group as the argument that the whole group is evil and “animsls”. But we are all human, with the potential for good and evil.
Moreover, it is a lot easier to blame minorities than to go after the class of wealthy rulers responsible for the lion’s share of violence and injustice.
Israel is doing great evil which is armed, supported, encouraged and facilitated by the white Protestant dominated US ruling class and its imperialist war machine. A growing number of Jews in and outside Israel are critical of the Israeli government and many challenge the ideology, Zionism, that pitted a historically persecuted group (Jews) against another people (Palestinians)in the interests of imperialism.
One other point regarding the slander that antiZionists are by definition antisemitic. Jews are still at risk in this world; we remain on the scapegoat list as the “secret evil power” behind every other disparaged group. During times of economic crisis, genuine antisemitism can be expected to grow.
Supporters of Israel labeling critics of the state of Israel & its policies “antisemitic” are doing a great disservice to the Jewish people, akin to the boy who cried wolf. No one will believe us when the wolf is actually at the door.
All those words, and not one word about the roles of usury, Jewish anti-Christianism, and Jewish tribalism. As to that last, read Stephen Bloom's "Postville: A Clash of Cultures in Heartland America."
Jews were prevented from owning land (due to antisemitism) so engaged in trade and early forms of capitalism, including lending money. I’m not fond of capitalism but it was on balance a step forward from feudalism. Many Jews remained poor as in Eastern Europe, and many worked in factories or were artisans or small shopkeepers. No matter how poor, there were still pograms.
And in the 19th century, when Herzl was selling Zionism, the majority of European Jews were against it. Read Ilan Pappe's book about selling Zionism around the world.
Check out the history of usury in England. Jews allowed to live there but only allowed to do certain 'low work' such as unethical money lending (morally unacceptable to do as a Christian).
Yes, they did well and strife emerged, but the causal chain is worth knowing before blaming.
That is a distortion of the history. You are letting the Christians of Europe off the hook for centuries of persecutions against Jews, Muslims (the Crusades), women (the witch burnings), and the colonization of the Americas which included displacement & genocide of native Americans.
Jews persecuted Christians from the beginning of Christianity. The Crusades were defensive wars. Protestants did most of the witch-burning stuff, not traditional Christians. And the "genocide" of the native Americans you speak of was actually a matter of smallpox wiping out peoples with no immunity.
"There is a tendency to scapegoat people who are different"
Especially when said different people are nomads entering places already settled with autochthonic cultures. Whether it's Europeans migrating to areas populated with Native Americans between 1500-1900, migrants from many nations coming into the United States today, or unusually large numbers of Jews into the Levant 1800s-1900s ... there *will* be trouble. Always has been, always will be.
Being in denial about human nature, and stubborn with one's own culture, means always taking umbrage. And thus always justifying war. Best way to remediate it? Stop normalizing migration in sizes and behaviors that disrupt native cultures. *Whoever* those migrants and natives are.
This is an uncomfortable truth. What is antisemitism anyway? Consider the common tropes. “Jews control media and money”. That sounds antisemitic. How about “Zionists control media and money and 85% of Jews identify as Zionists ”.. not antisemitism? Is Zionism = racism? French people want a French state with French language and culture. Germans want a Germany with German culture etc. are they racist for wanting that? Sort of? Would I be racist if I criticized French people for wanting France to remain French? The difference is a Zionism that features modern day ethnic cleansing and genocide are no longer acceptable to modern society. They are trying hard to make it acceptable. If tomorrow, France starts murdering its Muslim immigrants to avoid losing its culture, and I criticize this, I suppose they’ll just say I’m xenophobic. Im against genocide. I guess then I’m antisemitic too.
What’s the only reason that gives you the right to be an Israeli citizen? What’s the religion of all Israelis? Of course, I’m not talking about the indigenous people here. When an American Jew from Brooklyn goes to take a house in Jerusalem, is it because he believes in Zionism, or because he’s a Jew listening to a rabbi who thinks his god is a real estate agent allowing him to steal someone else’s house?
When European Jewish terrorist groups came to my village near Nazareth to ethnically cleanse Palestinians, my grandmother called them Jews, because that’s what they are. I’m not sure how many of them knew a shit about Zionism at that time
They were manipulated by Zionists. Listen to Avi Shalaim who is an Arab Jew who grew up in Iraq. He talks about that manipulation. He is an Arab Jew, but he is not a Zionist. Being Jewish does not automatically mean a person is a Zionist who wants to get Palestinians out of Palestine. (I had mistakenly said Ilan Pape before I edited this)
Could ISIS fighters have been manipulated? So, if there is manipulation, does that make them innocent? How many Jews oppose Israel? What percentage is that? If 85% of Muslims supported ISIS, I would change my religion. I’m tired of people repeating the holy narratives about Jews from CNN and BBC. I don’t need Ilan or anyone else; I know well. My grandmother told me her story about taking in Jews as refugees until the day they killed whoever they could and engaged in ethnic cleansing
who said being manipulated makes people entirely innocent? It is important, I think, to try to understand how people get to where they are. Zionists are brainwashed from a young age. As are ISIS fighters. As are people who grow up thinking Western countries are "democracies". It is evidence that we need to reconsider what people are learning and what they do with that knowledge. If we cannot do that, we are doomed to endless wars.
And here's the difficulty; if 85% of Arabs supported ISIS would you change your ethnicity? Would you let that 85% define Arab identity? Should you be tarred unless you uncoupled yourself from your history and orphaned yourself?
Jewishness is culture and religion and ethnicity. Conflate any two and you reduce the accuracy and validly of your arguments (IMHO).
The vileness of these times does promote and encourage antisemitism though, and it's Zionists that are doing it. Not all are Jews.
that's true but America entailed building a state on other people's land too. Now though, we supposedly have learned that is immoral. Netanyahu must have missed school on that day. And most western leaders too.
I’m super critical of France and Germany and other European countries being xenophobic to immigrants in order to preserve “their culture” when these immigrants come from the countries and regions they colonized or benefited from the colonization of and wouldn’t have their culture if they hadn’t done so. What would French culture be without the Arab world or Africa? Where would all that ornate gold be? What about those French sugary pastries, the chocolates, the “French” vanilla (a flower that only grows in Madagascar), the coffee)? Same goes for practically every European country and they’re all huffing and puffing over immigrants chanting the culture! Smh central Europe is a phony continent built off stolen culture.
what would be interpreted as a sign of antisemitism is when one would tolerate the same behavior (like being rich, owning the media, pushing wars, playing a role in slavery) from people who don't belong to that group, imo. generally, it's not poor jews (unless indoctrinated). People outside this ethnic group who are also 'guilty' of this kind of behavior often encourage this antisemitism because it works like a lightning rod. The system of wealth and power accumulation usually continuous after an outburst of violence against the identified subgroup.
Well said Martin. What you said needs to be said and understood. People need to understand the role and influence of power, money, corruption, social status, control, etc.
People need to understand that these are common human characteristics that are prevalent across all "groupings" of humans - regardless of their religious beliefs or where they reside in the world.
Also, Jewish organisation like Aipac lobbied very hard for the Iraq war, as well as Libya, Syria, support for the Gaza genocide, and opposing Iran. The Jewish lobby (which doesn’t comprise all Jews I should note) pressured the government to push these wars because it was believed it would help Israel’s security - after all, these were/are Israel’s adversaries.
I can’t believe that 85% of Jews approve of Israel’s murderous actions. I personally know a lot of Jews, and am Jewish, but nobody I know of approves of Israel’s conduct!
I believe that it is 85% of Israelis who approve the genocide, not Jews in general. Some of the most outspoken people against the genocide are Jewish; Medea Benjamin, Aaron Mate, Max Blumenthal, Phil Weiss, many others.
It’s not wise to lump everyone into a single group and say “it’s the Jews”. However, pointing out that there is a “Jewish club” or “Jewish lobby” which comprises most Jews doesn’t have to do that.
For instance, When people say “the Russians invaded Ukraine”, that’s not to say that every Russian supports the war, but it’s just more convenient referring to them as a collective in general.
British colonialism doesn’t mean all Brit’s were involved in colonising Africa
Likewise, pointing out that there is a Jewish club that pushes western powers to support Israel, etc doesn’t mean all Jews support Zionism, but it’s a convenient way of pointing out how the Jewish tribe as a whole acts in this way
I will say that Zionist demands for special pleading, insistence on conflating "Jews" with "Israel", with demanding that undoubted historical Jewish victimhood (you never will hear me engage in nonsense such as Holocaust denial) gives Israel the right to commit crimes forever and you're an antisemite of you call Israel out, these things have created more genuine antisemites than all the idiots evert o post drivel on Stormfront.
Yes this is basically what I meant, and you’ve just said it in a much better way. I’m not antisemitic myself - most of my news comes from Haaretz and Jeffery Sacha - however I recognise that antisemitism is fueled by that Jewish (or let’s just say “Zionist”) behaviour that you mention.
When simple people see Jewish soldiers flying the Star of David while recording themselves raping Palestinians, and they see the Jewish state committing atrocities, to the untrained eye this makes people dislike Jews.
In the same way that American imperialism in Vietnam and Iraq made people around the world hate Americans - even though many Americans opposed those wars - the actions of the Jewish state makes people antisemitic, even though many individual Jews are anti Israel
I do see what you mean. I took care of a Palestinian couple’s baby girl back in 1991 and she told me she hated Jews b/c what she had seen or possibly only heard that Israeli soldiers had raped Palestinian women and had even tore babies out of the women’s bodies while they were pregnant. In her mind they were Jews brutally killing/torturing her people. At the time I didn’t understand this hatred. I was very naive about Israel. Having said this, I’m not saying all Jewish people act this way and there are many Jews standing up for Palestine around the world, a lot of them Holocaust survivors. However, most Israeli Jews are for the genocide in Gaza. But what this lady witnessed or was passed down to her were soldiers with the star of David on their uniforms committing atrocities on her people, so naturally she’s going to see these are bad people and they happen to be Jews. I believe all genocides are evil and that one should not take precedence over the other.
Yes, I stand by that. I think the root cause of anti-Jewish sentiment is Jewish behaviour, in the same way that the root cause of Anti-Americanism in the Middle East is American behaviour
Since Israel is now the most hated country in the world, guilty of the mass murder of hundreds of thousands of men, women, and children, its supporters claim anti-semitism is rampant....As usual, they are lying...the world hates the Zionist crazies...But it will spread out to anti-semitism unless Israel is halted in its tracks...
....Zionist demands for special pleading, insistence on conflating "Jews" with "Israel", with demanding that undoubted historical Jewish victimhood gives Israel the right to commit crimes forever and you're an antisemite of you call Israel out, these things have created more genuine antisemites than all the idiots evert o post drivel on Stormfront.
If it's intentional, they are making a huge mistake...And I haven't read it, but don't think that Stormfront has slaughtered millions of people, or advocated it, unlike the US, and Israel....
Pyrrhus: I do believe that a huge number of people detest the Zionist state of Israel but I would also say that Biden with his warmongering has equally made many countries dislike the USA. This happened to the UK in the times of their colonial power but of course the internet was not around then.
Yes! I’ve been saying this on every forum!! They rewrote the definition of antisemitism over the last 5 years. Then made universities and state governments and our federal government sign on to it!! As the idiots they are, they signed it!! And now it’s waved in the air as proof of antisemitism! Mixing religion with ethnicity with nationality intertwines it all. But while they want to hold that up and proof of antisemitism, it does also another thing - makes all responsible for the genocide going on. Goes both ways. Can’t have your cake and eat it too.
They are not idiots, they are very cunning. Following their underlying intention is to follow the money and unlimited power. It is the nature of Empire to Divide and Conquer and to completely create and control the narrative. Identity politics serves admirably.
It is one thing when people in power spread manipulative lies but when a friend who is not one of the powerful, who you thought you knew, tells you that you are a "raging antisemite" for not supporting what the Israeli military is doing, you wonder if there is some mind altering drug in the water he is drinking.
You’ve beautifully described the moment of consciousness raising. The hard part is the inescapable confirmation that nearly everyone around is a dysfunctional mix of gullibility, stupidity, conformity and lack of a moral compass, culminating in “don’t wanna know.”
Whenever I sign any and every organisations petition to stop this genocide I actually get the exact same response from my Zionist Nazi representatives as they sent on October 8th! It always states "an act of savagery by Hamas who committed atrocities against Israel on October 7th!" etc. This last time I lost it and layed into him big time so I am now waiting for the knock on the door from the FBI. These people are parasites. This lying piece of shit for a Rep has no honor nor patriotism. Zionist Nazis are a scourge on the planet earth.
Israel is the original "dindu nuthin" entity. Nevermind that they attacked Syria over 20 times in 2023....before Oct 7th. Just citing the amount of things they had been doing shortly before Oct 7th should combat this plea.
Except now the Israelis are slaughtering the Hezbollah as well. Hezbollah are not the Hamas. So when is it going to stop? When Israel has murdered every man, woman and child that surrounds their tiny little psychotic nation of fools?
jamenta, You have summed up how violently ridiculous the situation is. When is the slaughter going to stop.. when they have carved up the whole of Arabia... not even then!
I’m not sure what motivates Bernie, but FWIW, I do recall hearing in a response to a question, just how difficult it was for such an admirable human being as I.F. Stone to denounce Israel’s actions. I decided it was too integral to his personal identity for him to be completely objective on that issue. He may have been able to speak out more strongly later. I didn’t see it, but it was much more difficult back then to follow every utterance.
Bernie is a successful politician. That should cover it, but so many people here just don't get it.
What motivates him is money. He is a psychopath and will do or say anything to please his corporate masters, because he has no moral compass. When his corporate masters say he should believe something he believes it. It isn't just bribery, he doesn't worry about being immoral.
You're throwing around a lot of assertions Lou. Do your accusations stand up to scrutiny - especially in comparison to other Politicians and people in Congress? Or is this just an emotional reaction on your part?
"... especially in comparison to other Politicians and people in Congress?"
First, you are setting an incredibly low bar.
Second, I will call on you to do the work ...
1. Please show me where Bernie has issued a clear statement denouncing the genocide.
2. Show me any statement that Bernie has made condemning Kamala and her campaign of evil.
Emotion? Yes, I really think that Bernie is no less a scumbag than any of the other successful politicians out there. Hate is the emotion, and I embrace it fully.
They say that the French revolutionaries were too heavy handed in their use of the guillotine. In the US I doubt that it could be overused.
Regarding antisemitism, it's important to distinguish between irrational antisemitism, meaning exaggerated or racist anti-Jewish sentiment, and rational analysis of threats posed by the Jewish tribe or nation that has been known as Israel for much of its 2500 year history. See: https://www.amazon.com/Yahweh-Zion-Jealous-Promised-Civilizations/dp/0996143041/ref=sr_1_1
Maybe those adopting these smear tactics are not aware that they have stripped the word of any actual meaning. Or maybe they are. Anyone who is even vaguely observing the evidence in front of them will rapidly see that they are being cynically manipulated and stop taking the accusations and news stories seriously. This is not difficult to predict, so we have to ask ourselves, “What is the real objective?”
You ask, What is the real objective?”I think that is a very important question. Although I tend to both believe religious, and ideological fanatics act irrationally, and are incapable of recalibrating their beliefs to reality, I also want there to be reasons, as in rational, however odious. I seriously am concerned about the backlash when the Zionist project is finally derailed, assuming, with no evidence to support the assumption, they don’t use the Samson Option.
It looks, to me, way too much like an attempt to set up a scapegoat, one easily identifiable, which will allow the warmongering imperialists to slink away unscathed. Could actual, hate-driven Nazis have done a better job?
Diluting meanings has happened to many words and I'm pretty sure some of those were special ops. "Conspiracy" is one such case that intelligence services combined with "theories" to discredit anything related to attempts to find out truth about JFK. And it was a success.
Nazi is another one in combinations like "Soup Nazi" etc. Looks funny and maybe intended that way but the consequences are real - it no longer is being taken seriously on its own.
“Israel is a crazy state. Not a ‘bad actor.’ Not a ‘rogue’ regime. A crazy state. —Norman Finkelstein, commonly labeled "self-hating Jew".
Israel says: No difference between Hezbollah and Lebanon; No difference between Hamas and Palestinians — we are permitted indiscriminate extermination. Ultimately, I see little difference between most Zionist Israelis and maggots feeding on deceased human flesh or fecal matter. I see no connection whatsoever to my esteemed Jewish friends past and present.
It would appear that in the Israeli ethos, rights and responsibilities are essentially equivalent: their right to cleanse their world of untermenschen, the not chosen, thereby ensuring their responsibility to fulfill some delusional biblical destiny only they are criminally insane enough to embrace.
The "Biblical destiny" bit is just a rationalization, sort of like how the Nazis used the parts of science that they liked and ignored or denigrated the ones that they did not.
And the junior partner terrorist state in the world, although many would opine that they're the senior partner terrorist to the US rather than vice-versa. When one considers the relationship of Mossad, MI6, and CIA, that opinion doesn't seem unreasonable.
Israel is not a Democracy when it's for Jews only and a Military Dictatorship with Military Courts for Palestinians in the illegally OCCUPIED West Bank.
My apologies; "if you don't mind!" is a very clear indicator of sarcastic humour in my culture so I didn't mark it with some emoji or other. Isn't transAtlantic communication wonderful? (I presume)
Yes, all those facts about Israel are true enough.
Israel has to say Hamas = Palestinians and Hezbollah = Lebanese because the Zionists want us to believe that Zionism/Israel = Jews. It seems to me that Zionism and Israel are anti-semitic which includes being anti-semitic against all semites, Jew and non-Jew.
Are you sure that's the reason Norman Finkelstein didn't/doesn't support BDS? That's one "piece of reasoning" I couldn't understand about Finkelstein. BDS is crucial and extremely important and urgent. Has his opinions on BDS changed? Does he still believe what he used to in 2006 (in reference to his beliefs about BDS)? I would be curious to know - as I can't fathom any reason for Finkelstein to reject BDS.
Yes, I've seen that video before - and I DON'T agree with Finkelstein on his views (re:BDS) in this video.
Thank you for the link (and your summarization)! I appreciate it.
Does Finkelstein (in 2024 after everything that has happened) still hold those same views? Because to me, there seems NO RATIONAL REASON for someone like Finkelstein to reject BDS. Maybe there is some conflict-of-interest? Maybe there is some truth to what you say?
I would still count Norman Finkelstein as one of the good guys and on the side of Palestinians and against Israel and Zionists (inspite of his incorrect views on BDS IMHO).
I don't know. Maybe you're right - maybe I'm biased - maybe it's more complicated - maybe it's not more complicated.
What I do know is that there are VERY FEW "qualified" people in the West that support Palestinians, and if Finkelstein happens to be RIGHT on most things and WRONG on some, then who am I to make a moral judgement on him? He (and probably you) know a lot more about Palestine and the Middle East than I ever will. So, I'd rather he speak in favor and in the interests of Palestine (and especially against Israel) than not. Has he said any anti-BDS stuff (especially since Oct 7th)? (and I don't ask this to justify or excuse his behavior/opinions on the matter) - I'm still just puzzled/curious...
I feared l was a closet anti-semite because l endured some very unpleasant experiences at the hands of a couple of Jewish boyfriends and the wrath of their over-protective, hateful mothers.
I no respect forJews that have no respect for non-Jews. In this last 11 months (and 76+ years) they have shown themselves to be worse than white supremicists, greedy heathens, and genocidal Nazis combined.
Each murderous deed, each new expansive unjustified “war” will raise the criticism of ‘Israel’.
Poor pariah Zionist ‘State of Israel’ is re-creating its own victimhood again and again by continuously and deliberately conflating anti Zionism and Antisemitism.
My God yes ! I hope you &/or others are watching your back ! Speaking truth to power is always dangerous but currently your clarity is good to read - keep it up !
And Jewish people who object to Israel's genocide are called self hating Jews. There is nothing self hating about opposing genocide.
I suppose, by that logic, Wilhelm Fuertwaengler must have been a "self-haiting German".
Indeed thinking Germans were called that and worse during those times. Modern version of that is Putinversteher (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Putinversteher).
Erich Maria Remarque is a good example (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erich_Maria_Remarque).
In 1939, he and his ex-wife were remarried to prevent her repatriation to Germany."

I hope you find others who are just like you, Gerda, who are disgusted by what Israel is doing. So many Jewish people are in the same boat as you.
Sorry to hear about the horrible experience you're having.
That’s kind of you. Thank you.

It is not so that "Jews were prevented from owning land," let alone "due to antisemitism." See https://www.tabletmag.com/podcasts/vox-tablet/why-jews-left-the-fields But even if it were true, it does not negate the fact that the effects of usury, along with Jewish tribalism and anti-Christianism, were the main causes of strife between Jews and Christians. And while "many Jews" may have remained poor, most were not; Jews tended to live in the wealthiest areas (see, for ex., Jewish communities in medieval Spain: https://fascinatingspain.com/place-to-visit/tours-around-spain/jewish-quarters-spain-past/ )
Check out the history of usury in England. Jews allowed to live there but only allowed to do certain 'low work' such as unethical money lending (morally unacceptable to do as a Christian).
Yes, they did well and strife emerged, but the causal chain is worth knowing before blaming.
Editted: 'they did well', not 'died well'
That is a distortion of the history.
A wonderful and informative answer/explanation Ann Menasche! Thank you so much!
Well said!
The difference is that zionism entails building a state on other people's land.
Laith. I am so sorry.
that's true but America entailed building a state on other people's land too. Now though, we supposedly have learned that is immoral. Netanyahu must have missed school on that day. And most western leaders too.
Yes, everytime I watch a western Im reminded of the parallels. The IDF as the US Cavalry riding to the rescue of the settlers
Tony Erizia: Like all colonialist ideas.
Well said, Susan T
Michael. Good point which is why I abhor this 'immigration shit' that has taken over the world.
No country loses it's culture because of immigration in fact the reverse is true.
I am curious about the topic of historical Jewish behaviour. Do you have any sources/articles?
For the record, I do believe bigotry is at the heart of antisemitism.
According to this Article by Haaretz, the Iraq war was conceived and largely pushed by a group of American Jews (25 senior individuals within the government): https://www.haaretz.com/2003-04-03/ty-article/white-mans-burden/0000017f-e398-d804-ad7f-f3fa5d520000
That is pure bullshit. And it is not a war. It is a deliberate genocide.
None of the "wars" cited were actual wars because almost no one was fighting back. What part of their comment do you object to?
It depends on what you mean by "anti semitism".
Read about why there are no Jews left in Algeria after French colonization.
Any links? or summarizations?
...and let's not forget that 87.4% of statistics are made up on the spot.
Stirring up the shit I see ...
Empire Destroyers these people are; as attested by the ruins of Rome, Babylonia, Persia & god knows how many others they have led to ruination!
I can’t believe that 85% of Jews approve of Israel’s murderous actions. I personally know a lot of Jews, and am Jewish, but nobody I know of approves of Israel’s conduct!
Hi Gerda
I believe that it is 85% of Israelis who approve the genocide, not Jews in general. Some of the most outspoken people against the genocide are Jewish; Medea Benjamin, Aaron Mate, Max Blumenthal, Phil Weiss, many others.
Very well said.
Likewise, pointing out that there is a Jewish club that pushes western powers to support Israel, etc doesn’t mean all Jews support Zionism, but it’s a convenient way of pointing out how the Jewish tribe as a whole acts in this way
In the case of the Russian Special Military Operation, Russia is acting in self-defense against the provocations by the United States and NATO.
i think if you look close enough you will find those things are mostly perpetrated by the rich club.
And yes there have been many atrocities/genocides against black and brown people. 😢☮️🇵🇸
This is entirely intentional, BTW.
I think you are an old-fashioned real antisemite. You are hiding behind a pretense that you believe otherwise.
Posted elsewhere, please forgive:
....Zionist demands for special pleading, insistence on conflating "Jews" with "Israel", with demanding that undoubted historical Jewish victimhood gives Israel the right to commit crimes forever and you're an antisemite of you call Israel out, these things have created more genuine antisemites than all the idiots evert o post drivel on Stormfront.
This is entirely intentional, BTW.
If it's intentional, they are making a huge mistake...And I haven't read it, but don't think that Stormfront has slaughtered millions of people, or advocated it, unlike the US, and Israel....
A Scary Enemy is always needed as a justification for special pleading and group solidarity.
Pyrrhus: I do believe that a huge number of people detest the Zionist state of Israel but I would also say that Biden with his warmongering has equally made many countries dislike the USA. This happened to the UK in the times of their colonial power but of course the internet was not around then.
Could be, but Israel is more front and center on this....
Well said!
The sociopaths who rule over us are entirely untroubled by hypocrisy.
They wouldn't recognize themselves in a mirror if they weren't being hypocrites all day everyday.
It's called Kool Aid. The US is drenched in it.
Have you seen the 2009 documentary 'Defamation'? It was up on YTube. Highly recommended look at the indoctrination process.
Didn't they bomb a US ship? Oh well....who cared then or who cares now......
Bernie Sanders : "Sending more weapons to Netanyahu's extremist government is immoral"
He never seems to use the word "Israel" implying all that's needed is a new ruler
A good point, mainly underscoring that Sanders is a glorified eunuch.
Like saying that if Mauthausen had nicer facilities and a Diversity Committee, that would make the Holocaust okay!
Maybe something similar is at work with Bernie.
Lou, I volunteer to hold the basket for their heads.
Bernie's intention is to provide a rational to continue to support Israel once Netanyahu is gone
It's mostly more than just "irrational", but that is just one part of what my new book will be covering.... #antisemitism #antisemitic #antisemites
My upcoming book is, ‘ 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗜-𝗦𝗘𝗠𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗦𝗠 - 𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗢𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗭𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗜𝗦𝗧 𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗔𝗜𝗚𝗡 𝗧𝗢 𝗥𝗘𝗗𝗘𝗙𝗜𝗡𝗘 𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗜-𝗦𝗘𝗠𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗦𝗠 '.
Sounds like an interesting book! When it comes out, send a pdf to truthjihad at gmail dot com if you want to promote it on my radio show.
Cheers! It’s take a huge amount of time and energy to compile!! And just one of two upcoming books too!
You make a very good point there
Maybe those adopting these smear tactics are not aware that they have stripped the word of any actual meaning.
Crazy right?
Diluting meanings has happened to many words and I'm pretty sure some of those were special ops. "Conspiracy" is one such case that intelligence services combined with "theories" to discredit anything related to attempts to find out truth about JFK. And it was a success.
Nazi is another one in combinations like "Soup Nazi" etc. Looks funny and maybe intended that way but the consequences are real - it no longer is being taken seriously on its own.
#antisemitism #antisemitic #antisemites
@Caitlin Johnstone Hence, my upcoming book, ‘ 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗜-𝗦𝗘𝗠𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗦𝗠 - 𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗢𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗭𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗜𝗦𝗧 𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗔𝗜𝗚𝗡 𝗧𝗢 𝗥𝗘𝗗𝗘𝗙𝗜𝗡𝗘 𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗜-𝗦𝗘𝗠𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗦𝗠 '.
Israel is not crazy.
Israel is what you get when any people get unlimited rights, combined with zero responsibilities.
Of course!
who grants those rights and decides on the responsibilities? (empire)
You yourself have said it.
Israel is the Terrorist State in the Middle East!
And the junior partner terrorist state in the world, although many would opine that they're the senior partner terrorist to the US rather than vice-versa. When one considers the relationship of Mossad, MI6, and CIA, that opinion doesn't seem unreasonable.
The Democratic Terrorist State in the Middle East, if you don't mind!
Getting your fingers burnt by Occi for humility and nuance...? It happens, sadly.
point taken Jack Horner (in context to our other conversation).
Confusing the Jewish People with the The State of Israel has been used by Israel for years in its propaganda.
Being Anti-Israel is NOT being anti-semitic
Pretty sure 90% of Jews would disagree.
LOL
I do not make my beliefs based u87pon what others claim
I feared l was a closet anti-semite because l endured some very unpleasant experiences at the hands of a couple of Jewish boyfriends and the wrath of their over-protective, hateful mothers.
I no respect forJews that have no respect for non-Jews. In this last 11 months (and 76+ years) they have shown themselves to be worse than white supremicists, greedy heathens, and genocidal Nazis combined.
Sadly.....yes.
Exactly - Caitlin, you always hit the nail.
Each murderous deed, each new expansive unjustified “war” will raise the criticism of ‘Israel’.
Poor pariah Zionist ‘State of Israel’ is re-creating its own victimhood again and again by continuously and deliberately conflating anti Zionism and Antisemitism.
Keep going down this rabbit hole. It's even worse than you think.
My God yes ! I hope you &/or others are watching your back ! Speaking truth to power is always dangerous but currently your clarity is good to read - keep it up !
