So what what Zuckerberg says? He proves that what he says should be ignored or held in contempt. When is he ever challenged? It's only their voices we hear from, the billionaires and their perspectives we hear about. What has Zuckerberg done or is doing to show he cares for humanity? The fact that he censors tells us he is to be held in contempt of breaking the most paramount principle of sovereignty. Anything other than sovereignty is enslavement. Just like you can't be half pregnant, also you can't be half-sovereign. How can anything help humanity that takes away our freedom of voice, hmm?

Ai would be wonderful if it were owned by every human in equal stakeholdings. From the time of birth right on through, every human has one share in the "ownership". It would then probably really be a huge help in solving problems. But the main problem humans have is lack of collaboration, separation. That keeps us helpless. Working together we can move mountains.
Caitlin, you (and by you I mean people in general) need to understand that MOST of these "Tech-Bros" and "over-the-top Pro-AI people" seem to live in their OWN world and NOT the REAL WORLD where 99.99% of humanity live. To me, THAT seems to be the causal problem for most of what comes out of Tech (not just AI) - these people are SO DISCONNECTED from the real world that what they say and believe just does not compute for me.
AI was never meant to solve the world's problems - that is just the narrative used to sell the technology (and industry). AI (and all such technologies) will simply accumulate and concentrate more POWER and WEALTH and CONTROL in the hands of fewer-and-fewer people (and to the detriment of everyone else, including other species and Planet Earth).

Sadly, the AIs were trained on the entire internet/human literature. So while basic human kindness, justice, and ethics are certainly present in the training data, they by no means constitute the majority. I think AI is just going to reflect back to us the portrait of humanity captured in the data set, and it ain't pretty (but maybe pretty accurate?).
I have a different perspective, as I see intelligence as the ability to adapt successfully to our environment ( I do NOT mean adapt to a sick, mad world) successfully. This concept allows us to see not only humans but animals as possessing intelligence, differing as conditions of survival differ.
From this perspective, I do not see technical intelligence, exemplified by math or engineering, but creative and emotional intelligence as most essential. Creative intelligence allows us to find new new perspectives and new solutions, vital to surviving in a changing world. Einstein often said he was not that good at math but he had a curiosity, the driving force of creativiy, and sense of wonder at the mystery of the univerise, that enable his imagination to create revolutionary ideas and viewpoints.
I find compassion to be the most essential form of intelligence for survival., for we can build weapons of exquisite engineering but it is compassion that will save us, as it connects us to all living beings and thus forms the foundation of the empathy and altruism which guide us through life an without which, all the technical intelligence is not only useless but dangerous.
So I give 3 cheers for intelligence, not that kind that builds prisons and system of control but the kind that tears them down, for in in the end, compassion will lead us to join with others to work to end the suffering, and creativity will give us the ideas an inspiration to find new solutions
As for AI, it is not all technical, for it is a compendium of not only science and math but of poetry of art, of medicine and the world's history of healing. It's all there, good, bad, and ugly, and what gets used depends not on what's there but who controls it and what their motives are. If we make it a giant public library, a global encyclopedia, if we take it from the billionaries, we can use it to free humanith from drudgery, cure our diseases, find ways to resolve conflict an empower our creative impulses in way unimaginable in the past. If we do not make it a public asset, we will see it as the most powerful tool of those who seek to dominate us and bend us to their will.
Whether it enslaves us or liberates us is up to us....for now, we can use it to help our revolution, as youth have done in Asia and Africa, find new ways as early adapters do to mold the value of this transformative too into a blessing for humanity and not a curse.
