Using AI increases the costs of fixed capital (AI tokens for example). Hence, any company that uses AI will have an increase in capital expenditures. If they want to maintain their profit levels/rates, they either have to 'lay off workers' (or reduce pay) or else be unable to compete and survive in a capitalist economy. There is no luxury of "reducing the work week with the same pay" scenario here. I think Marx was describing what might be considered a free society, where workers were able to make their own choices about what to do with their time. Possibility is very different from 'probability calculations'. Anything might be possible however low the probabilities of that 'something' actually happening.
Just because something is 'possible' doesn't translate directly into anything meaningful - probabilities need to be considered in the environment and contexts involved.

Here's the problem with your 'worker coops' logic (and this comes from Marxian analysis) -
Using AI increases the costs of fixed capital (AI tokens for example). Hence, any company that uses AI will have an increase in capital expenditures. If they want to maintain their profit levels/rates, they either have to 'lay off workers' (or reduce pay) or else be unable to compete and survive in a capitalist economy. There is no luxury of "reducing the work week with the same pay" scenario here. (This applies to all forms of companies and corporations - worker coops, LLCs, partnerships, S/C corporations, whathaveyou).
Why would companies be compelled to use AI whether they want to or not? Because all their competitors are using AI to increase productivity and profits. Hence - to 'survive' - companies might not have a 'choice' in whether to use AI or not.
So, no - in a capitalist economy with AI there is only one direction for employment to move - downwards.
So you see this as a positive? Just trying to understand
