Never seen it myself and I know a quite a few; but they were born and bred in NL and Belgium and are just "working types" ... they never bring their religion up and you would not even think of them "as Jews" unless they told you with a flippant comment - same as me and you.
Not sure what I would have done in your situation as I do not hit women... but maybe would have made an exception in that instance ... " a gentle slap" OR THROW HER IN THE LOCAL RIVER !>
