Depends on what you value. I'm sure others will have a different opinion -- I emphasize opinion.
In a nuclear war, I expect to be dead. To misuse an old saying, "better dead than red", which one can interpret anyway they like -- including changing it to "better red than dead". Just opinions in this case.
I don't see all of humanity being wiped out by anything other than another asteroid. I might even survive nuclear war if I happen to be in the right place at the right time.
But a nation that is totally controlled, with no thoughts other than the approved thoughts, yep, that's scarier to me.
As I said, an opinion. So of course it is "all about me" that's what an opinion is.
"I might even survive nuclear war if I happen to be in the right place at the right time." Knowing that so many share that opinion to me makes it scarier than a West Point for bureaucrats.
As far as living in a country with no thoughts but approved thoughts, looks like we're heading there regardless. Pretty bleak options, right?
Scarier than nuclear war?
IMHO yes.

This isn't all about you, John. Lol In a nuclear war we're likely all dead, including my cat. Please think of Squitters if not the rest of us.
Let me delete and re-write:
