Myself and the person I was travelling with in the late 1980s which included a visit to "Israel" (primarily only in order to get to Egypt more cheaply) don't remember particularly liking any "Israelis", and NOT liking a large number of them. We also were told horror stories from other backpackers, like a Dutch girl being beaten up by her "Israeli" boyfriend, and another pair who had to steal their passport back and escape from a Kibbutz after being threatened by the "Israeli" running the place. A country of racist murderous nut jobs. And we both thought the entire "country" was a big sh1thole populated by psychos.
