People who head states have no right to be gullible. They must be cynical in their role and work for the interests of their country and not their own values, whatever they are.
One can and should be a good person in their personal life, but when one is responsible for lots of other people - better work for the interests of those people or get the hell out if you can't handle schizo mode required for the role.
