Agreed. What I find even more interesting, it took until 2022 for Putin to state I was fooled by the u.s./NATO into believing you can enter into agreement with them. He said that out loud.

That same thought should be entering every country in the Middle East minus israel. How is it possible they haven't realized they are ended standing alone.

For someone who is depicted as some kind of evil genius puppetmaster, Putin's naivete astounds me.

Naivete or whatever else - he'll definitely have to provide answers for the history books.

I also suspect vanity. They pumped him up and he indeed thought that if he was promised something - he, as in "I am mighty PUTIN as they keep saying" - then those promises will be kept. Whereas behind the scenes they were laughing at the way they fooled him, like a conman would a simpleton.

So, unless something comes up that exonerates him in that regard - like, say, Russia was really unprepared in some ways to take on the West earlier - then he's fully responsible for letting things slide to such an extent that the war was necessary.

My SWAG has nothing to do with flattery or ego and everything to do with wanting to believe.

Yes, I was shocked and I know it was genuine expression. Obviously he believes in government in the u.s. that works and works for it's people. That is why Ukraine will no longer exist East of the Dinpro or Odessa. Russia can not trust any us./nato agreement that would allow a rebuild of Ukrainian military. Ukraine will be a neutered state without power, a farm field and not owned by Blackrock or Bill Gates. I know when I read his speech I was stunned. I actually think that means he is a person of intelligence and trust. Intelligent people are easily fooled. I am not easily fooled ha.

People who head states have no right to be gullible. They must be cynical in their role and work for the interests of their country and not their own values, whatever they are.

One can and should be a good person in their personal life, but when one is responsible for lots of other people - better work for the interests of those people or get the hell out if you can't handle schizo mode required for the role.

I agree, and he thought the u.s. was doing the same which would be peace not spending 22TRILLION on offense. I believe he thought we in the u.s. were working for the people of the u.s. not the Billionaire few. Agreed shockingly ignorant of the depth of greed in the u.s. considering what we know of Russian oligarchs of which he is one. Shocking, maybe he believed the campaign speeches ha.
