I read it decades ago while listening to the hearings during the Nixon administration. As well as the writings of Lenin. I wrote for a Socialist publication in college, a was friends with a female professor who had been to Chile during the Allende coup who wrote a book about it, after being detained and her first manuscript was confiscated. I read books on the Chinese revolution as well as several about the Russian revolution. Also books about Che Guevara and Castro and the Chili revolution. I dated a program director for a university free radio station and went with him on several interviews including one with Hall who was running for President on the Communist ticket. I would say I have quite a breadth of inside knowledge into the workings and methods of Communist revolutionary thought.
I might add that it wasn’t till I forced myself to read books and articles from the pro Capitalist “camp” that I began a journey of true learning and understanding eventually realizing that as I was transitioning from youth to adulthood I probably could identify with oppressed peoples because I had felt that oppression as a child growing up. When I became a more balanced adult in the area of political thought, I put away my childish emotions as well as my fear of taking responsibility for my own life.
I share the same sentiment. Participating only legitimizes an obviously corrupted process.
