As Peter van Buren put it, "It all makes sense if you don't change the channel." So many people I know (if they pay any attention to world events, which many don't) tune in to the news, pundit, or politician who consistently tells them what they want to hear. They have no interest in the notion that such sources are propagandizing them. As one friend said to me many years ago, "Don't confuse me with the facts." A relative who was visiting us and went off to listen to Rush Limbaugh was back about five minutes later. When I inquired why he was back so soon he responded, "I know what I'm supposed to think."
