Read "Overthrow" by Stephen Kinzer. Many overthrows indeed took place because the new governments wanted to be on their own and improve their countries independently of the USA. Many adopted the principle of "All men are created equal" etc. They found out soon that the principle applied only to the USA.
The principle has never applied to the USA except as an ideal. Inequality is rife in the USA and has been since the earliest British, Dutch, French and Spanish colonialists landed in the so-called "New World".
